What I like about him: God, tbh he reminds me of myself. Hot headed, challenging, stubborn, slightly sadistic.

He’s like me if I actually acted out in my thoughts (this is not a joke—)

When he’s apologizing to Ryouga (WDC) it sounds like he’s really trying to feel sorry but at the same time it’s hard to feel empathy after being manipulated by Tron for quite awhile (maybe like… 5 years?)

Whenever he gets emotional it makes me want to cry. Especially that scene when he was standing up for Trey after Trey fell into a coma.

Oh also when he was begging Tron to have a second chance during the WDC duel with Ryouga, god he sounded so betrayed and broken T^T

He’s also such an idiot, I find it hilarious how in the dub he sounds like a 14 year old boy when he’s like 17 >D< Not to mention the fish puns and his immaturity (I’m talking about the duel against Chironex/Kurage)

Zexal Month Week 2: Our Favorite Moments

August 4th: Arbutus - You are the only one I love

My favorite character of Zexal. It’s a basic answer but I love Yuma! He's my fave Yu-Gi-Oh protag and a big ball of sunshine that makes you either grin, smile, or laugh. He's so gosh darn bright and energetic that it’s hard not to be just as energetic, his energy is that infectious! He's also too kind and loyal. This is the kid who'd make friends with even old bullies to enemies even helping guys that nearly killed him! More than once might I add! (looking at you Vector) He just doesn’t abandon anyone in need whether they be friend or foe. And his will in never giving up is so darn admirable, no matter the odds stacked against him or the mental anguish he suffers through (which is a lot!) he doesn’t quit! He lets his Kattobingu spirit shine bright and stares at any adversary straight in the eye. Eyes that show no hesitation, straight forward, while believing in others. He will make you feel whether you like it or not! (Yeah looking at you Shark, Eliphas) And he just loves his friends so much, he cares about their well-being so much (for good reason) and we sometimes forget that Yuma is still a kid, he's 13! Yet has the kindness and openness of a flipping saint! Yuma is too good to the World, we don’t deserve him but we got him anyway!

Look at him! He is in fact the sun! (Wait does that make Astral the moon or the star? Hmm.. Let me know you guys' opinion now I got myself thinking.)

@zexalmonth day 4: Arbutus! My favourite character is Astral! Crazy, right? Me a neurodiverse enby with Astral, the very neurodiverse-coded non-human (therefore technically genderless) entity, as their favourite character? Who'd've guessed?

I've never made an edit before so let's see how this turns out

Unironically, I think Astral is a well written character with a great arc (and Marc Thompson is an icon). His role in the series and his character only made me love Zexal more on my rewatches. We need to appreciate him more, he spends most of the show invisible ffs

I love Astral sm (and yet Christopher Arclight also exists oh me oh my...) (like excuse me he's so fine?) (Yuka x Quinton when?) (but let's save that for day 13 lol)

*Edit: I love how many people are saying Astral is their favourite character for Zexal Month, I'm glad he's getting the appreciation he deserves in the big year 2025

My favourite character is obviously Astral. He has been my comfort character for almost 8 years now. He means so much to me, honestly I don't know where to start. I love absolutely everything about him, his appearance, voice, personality, everything. It's silly but he really changed my life, he has been there through my hard times, he has brought me great happiness for so many years. He's that refound joy in my life, just thinking about him makes me smile. He got me into many things that I thought I'd never touch, such as art, reality shifting. It's surprising how much a fictional character can change your life, it sounds stupid but I am so thankful to Kazuki for creating him. He holds a dear place in my heart, I genuinely love him so much ♡

My favorite character is probably Astral. But I like No: 96 and Yuma a whole lot too, ngl.

I think my favorite thing about him is is personality. The way he carefully calculates his moves and tries to find a logical reason to everything is cool.

On a side note though, I love it when people draw Astral with messed up hair. Idk why I felt like I should mention that.

Finally another Zexal Month I can participate in. I actually managed to do a few of the prompts. Didn't have time for a more detailed one for today, but anyway... Ever since I watched Zexal in 2018, Astral has been my all time favorite character of everything ever. He's my ultimate comfort character and has helped me through difficult times more than once. I ship him with Yuma. What I like about him: Everything!

Ever since I began watching yugioh zexel, Shark/Ryoga Kamishiro/Reginald Kastle has been my favorite character!! I understood him so much and to this day I adore his character and lore ♡

Girl what? I found out about @zexalmonth yesterday and what?? How did I not know of this? Lesgooooo!

Hi, I'm Hollis. I'm a nerd. I'm an artist, animator, writer, voice actor, and professional ADHD "I've dabbled in everything" person. I'm a ghost living on the moon, and all my time is dedicated to my TikTok, Tumblr blog and Artfight account. Here's my Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal OC, Yuka: (it's old art, I need to make some newer art of her)

Yuka is super blunt, flirty and sarcastic character, and she works at a gyaru cafe in Hartland City. She's known Rio and Shark since childhood, getting her job after Rio's hospitalisation to pay the medical bills. Yuka is a little older than the main cast, and does her best to look after Shark. Yuka also has some crazy reincarnation things going on, so I'll share more about her on a separate post. Obscure info time? Ofc

I first saw Zexal in 2016/17 during its rerun on Pop UK. The first episode I saw was from the Duel Carnival Arc, and Dexra/Droite's character design caught my eye. I had no clue what was going on in the plot but I remember instantly loving the show and rushing to the TV after school (I believe it was on POP+1) for weeks to watch the rest of the episodes. They also never aired season 3?? Excuse me? So here I thought Zexal ended after the Barain Invasion arc haha. THEN, in 2019, I found season 3 on Crunchyroll! And off I was again, my love for Zexal reinvigorated. I've kinda been static since then, Covid and growing up getting in the way of my love for the show. BUT I recently compiled all my OCs into a long ass list and saw this name at the bottom of the list. Cara? Who's that? My old Zexal OC of course! Now in 2025, Zexal is one of my biggest hyperfixations (right next to Miraculous). I rewrote Cara into Yuka and gave her lore, and now I'm slowly working on a Zexal reader insert fanfic on the side. Here's Yuka's old art lol (2019)

She used to be called Cara Kastle (her dub name), and she was the third Kamishiro sibling and a Barain Emperor. I can't take her old design seriously lol

Week 1: Welcome! Hello!

August 1st: Hibiscus

Hello! call me Galax or Avi, either work, and i use he/it pronouns. I've been a fan of Yugioh Zexal since before I was online. I write too much fanfiction for my own good, have a job with Fucked Up Shifts, and i ship myself with kaito tenjo because im an adult now i need to stop worrying about being cringe. (the shipname between him and my oc wynn is wingshipping btw. because wtfn)

Zexal was a big keystone in my journey to realize i was queer and i am not kidding. It not only introduced me to fandom culture as a whole, which in turn led me to realize my Gayness/Transness, but, i kid you not, kaito gave me a sexuality crisis when i thought i was a cis girl. straight up. im not lying.

I'm not much of an artist but i am a good (i think) author so instead of drawings yall will be getting assorted wips, or snippits from my in progress fics, or a oneshot written in between shifts

zexal month day one: hibiscus

Hi. Moonlit Orchid here. Or just Orchid. Above is a silly doodle of myself that I got the idea of from Pinterest.

I've been in this fandom for a few years now, and if you go all the way back to the start of this blog, you'll find that it was the first fandom I ever posted about. I used to watch Zexal as a kid, then a few years ago my sister wanted to rewatch all of a sudden. And so here we are.

I like to read, draw, and sometimes write, and am trying to get myself out of just rotting away on YouTube all day. And I wanna say that Zexal (and Yugioh as a whole) has by far had the most significant effect on my artstyle than any other media. Looking at my older art, it's very clear at what point I was watching Zexal and drawing fanart from it because that was when my artstyle took a very anime turn, and I do think the effects are still in place now (the above art is not in my typical style haha). Zexal was also the first anime I truly watched as anime (or knowing it was anime), and although I probably would have gotten into the anime at some point anyway, it was the one that started it.

Anyway, I'm excited to participate this year, and I hope I'll be able to really be involved!

Hello! To follow the prompt of introductions, I'm @highfivetheskye or Skye for short. She/Her/They/Them. I have been watching Zexal since my childhood and have been continuing since. The main thing I do give out little bits and boops of Yugioh (mainly Zexal) stories to share with the fandom. My posting time and my stories' timeline may be all over the place I put tons of thinking into these tales. Favorite Character? Yuma Tsukumo! And Astral! Both of whom have been my childhood heroes and still are to this day. Favorite Ship? I am a bit of a mutli-shipper but my favorite is Keyshipping! Sorry I am quite new to this, but I hope I can help make this an amazing Zexal Month!
