re: the patrochilles parallels.... hao feels achilles coded to me solely bc the "name on hero who was happy. you can't." and "i'm going to be the first." line makes me think of how they both have this clear-eyed awareness of their position in the narrative but an unshakable belief in their ability to defy the odds/change fate/make history and rise to the top with the person they love right by their side regardless (the difference ofc being that zhang hao really does break the narrative and win it all in the end)
