Week5 Storyboard
After making the grass model, I began to observe the various angles of the solid model, plan the animation sequence of the final model to be shown, and record it in the form of storyboards.

Week 5 Massing model making
Tumblr media
Based on the preliminary sketch, I decided on the architectural model I wanted to make with MAYA, and I started to make the sketch model with cardboard. I chose to draw the floor plan after unwrapping the solid model on flat cardboard to try to help me better understand the concept of "organic UV unwrapping" and mapping in MAYA.

Week4 Deepen the conceptual scheme
1.  Based on the theory of "high-tech architecture" as the core, to create a futuristic and industrial sense of the shape of the building.
2.The unique way the building is supported is rooted in Mars by giant earth drills.
3. The design idea of "building skeleton skin" instead of the traditional cement wrapped steel construction style, directly use low temperature resistant metal material as the building coat.
4. Emphasizes the spatial form of settlement, based on a single building, and gradually forms the community architecture through clever connection.
5. The one-piece design, attempts to centralize different functions within the same building, such as the giant energy collecting plate installed in the center of the building.

Week 4 Supplementary research
High-Tech Architecture
Prior to this week's concept sketch, I reviewed previous research on Mars settlement architecture and Mars environment. I hope the final architectural plan to be futuristic and technological, so I did some additional research on high-tech architecture.

These high-tech buildings have a mechanical rational and reasonable appearance, full of science and technology. I hope to apply this metal texture and technology to my design.

SDES9320 3D Visualisation
Week3 Some sketching schemes
I've got some ideas that I think are going to be interesting, and the idea in my head right now is a modular house, Since the resource base of outer space may not be able to build tall buildings, attempts were made to start with small buildings in the form of individual units, and gradually combine to form mega-buildings and communities.

Week2-3. Architectural research
This week I did some research on the future architecture based on last week's Mars material research. During the research, I noticed that there were many famous architectural design teams participating in the competition for Mars architecture held by NASA. Due to the particularity of the Mars issue, we not only consider the appearance of the works, but also think about the transportability and functionality of the building materials and even consider the possibility of directly using Mars local materials as building materials.
MARS COLONIZATION ( ZA Architects )
The project is a proposal from ZA Architects of Germany to build in the form of a large network of caves in the Martian underground, where the basalt tends to carve hexagonal columns, thus forming a stable spatial structure.

ICE HOUSE ( Clouds AO + SEArch )
The project uses the reflective and filtering capabilities of ice to filter the excessive radiation on Mars. The overall appearance of the building is made of ice material to make it appear translucent.

INFLATABLE MODULAR HABITAT ( Team GAMMA )
The project is to use the surface of the Martian soil to create a protective cover, reinforced in the aerated outer ring, in order to form a free space can be placed at will.

MARS UTOPÍA (  IDEA Architecture Office )
Spanish architect Alberto Villanueva of the IDEA Architecture Office has a special idea. Given the Martian cold climate, he chose biological materials, mycelia and fungi that can withstand the cold climate of Mars, and use them to build something like a protective shield, and thus provide space for humans.

ZOPHERUS HABITAT  ( Lane, Guidry, McKee, Hendel & Williams )
The beauty of this project is that all the construction of the building relies on robots with 3D printing technology, and the whole project does not need any human.

MARSHA ( AI Space Factory )
The key production technology of the project also relied on 3D printing. The choice of building materials was made from Martian basalt and mixed with special plant materials, which made the building more durable.

Reflection
These architectural projects have inspired me a lot, not only about the shape of the structure, but also about the material considerations. Buildings on Mars, limited by the current technology and transport capacity, for the grasp of materials may need to adapt to local conditions. In addition, I need to do more data research on Mars for the shape of the Mars building that I am going to model later. For example, Mars is in a cold environment all the year round, perhaps the thickness of the building needs to be adjusted, or the underground environment of Mars may be more suitable for living than the surface, then the building space needs to make some structural adjustments.

2. Week 2 Exercise Cup
Today, we practiced the modeling of the cup with Maya. Based on the cup we took in class, I first decomposed the geometry of the shape through the sketch, and then began modeling.

Adjust model details by control points,At the same time, I added some insert edge loop to the model, so that the model after the smooth will not be too smooth, keep some edges and corners.

week1-2. Architecture
In two topics, I choose to explore impossible architecture. I tried to find some aesthetic textures on the Internet to get some inspiration. I saw some pictures of the surface of Mars from the Mars rover in a NASA report. They are beautiful, the unique landscape of the formation of the gully undulations show different textures and textures.
Tumblr media
The bright, slightly curved terrain on Mars is created by sand grains shaking in the wind.
Tumblr media
The gullies on Mars form in winter, fluidizing due to frosting of carbon dioxide.
Tumblr media
Typical topography of the middle latitudes of Mars is shown here, with sediment formation in blue.
Tumblr media
Rock samples from Mars collected by NASA's Mars rover are rich in carbon 12.
These pictures made me very interested in the Mars space, Mars immigration seems to have been a very exciting and difficult to imagine the topic, The space environment on Mars is quite different from that on Earth. The lack of water, the high intensity of ultraviolet light and the thin oxygen seems to make it difficult. But I still wanted to try to explore what the architecture would look like in such an environment, what materials and shapes it might use.

This 360-degree partial panoramic view of Mars was obtained by the Mastcam on NASA's Curiosity rover.
