Well, you tried to re-engage your rational brain, but sadly, you didn't quite make it. Too scared to look for real world evidence because it might show you that you're wrong and then you'd have to face up to the realization that you've been lied to all your life and we don't have to just stand by while others suffer?
It's hard, I know, I've been there. But the world is so much more pleasant to live in when you realize we can actually do something, instead of standing by and watching the suffering.
In the age of automation and artificial intelligences, I suspect people would rather change 1 & 2 to a universal basic income and a 20 hour work week, but it certainly is a start.

Aww, @mtnman451 did someone challenge your world view, and present an idea that would lead to less human suffering in the world, and it's so scary that your flight or fight response kicked on shutting off your ability to think rationally, leaving you only with petty insults and baseless accusations?
Oh, am I wrong? Do you have some good, sound studies to disprove the idea? Or are you just repeating what the media has told you?
A real mountain man would have brave enough to reblog, instead of replying in the comments where way fewer people will see this "argument". But then again, he would be happy enough with his life that he didn't need to go around trying to make others feel small.
In the age of automation and artificial intelligences, I suspect people would rather change 1 & 2 to a universal basic income and a 20 hour work week, but it certainly is a start.

I want there to be fewer MRAs. Do you want that too? Do you want to know what helps us get there, from a feminist perspective?
You may not like my answer: acknowledge that sexism can affect men. Recognize that, although the patriarchy generally privileges men, they are also subject to restrictive gender roles that are harmful to them (shunning all things “feminine,” not showing emotions, being protectors/strong, never admitting being victims of SA/IPV, having to “earn” their manhood, etc.).
Give young men a place other than the right-wing manosphere to be heard about the issues they experience. If these grifters are telling them “only we understand how hard it is to be a man, the left hates you for your gender” and they look to the left and see “men claiming they have ‘problems’ are losers who just hate women, all men are trash,” do you think they’re going to be drawn towards or away from feminism?
Before you leave an angry response: no, this does not mean to center men instead of women in feminism, it just means including them at all. No, it is not “coddling” men to treat them with human dignity, you can and should continue to hold them (and every other gender) responsible for unpacking sexist beliefs. No, this does not mean it is every individual woman’s and feminist’s responsibility to prioritize men’s issues, it just means at the least not shutting them down when they do speak up about sexism. No, it is not “not all men-ing” to point out that “men are trash” sentiments hurt the feminist movement rather than helping it. Ask questions before you make accusations on this post, please. I have been abused by men too, I get it, this isn’t easy to hear.

"It is worth trying to dissect how certain root causes and social dynamics lead some groups of people to become radicalised" and "We are not obligated to centre or coddle the feelings of extremists" are two statements that can and should co-exist, actually.

And yeah, in addition to analyzing why we lost, we also need to be planning on actions that we can take in the next four years both to resist the damage that they will try to cause and work to make sure public opinion is strong enough to prevent another republican win. I haven't sat down and read it yet (it is over 900 pages), but I do plan on reading project 2025 and understanding it, and figuring out how to counter it. I think everyone should. I should have before the election was decided, but I was in denial and I admit that.
We have got to be strategic. We cannot use up a lot of energy and public will in effectual actions. We have to get the public, the average person on our side, rooting for us, believing in us, having hope for the future we want to create. And we must have endurance, which means that we have to take care of ourselves, take breaks, help each other, and do those kinda feel-good activisms that people denigrate because they help the activist's mental health. Yeah, maybe it's a bandaid, but sometimes you need a bandaid. There is a long, long road ahead.

This is what I've been think about a lot, and I should have been louder sooner.
The same patriarchal, anti-feminist system that harms women also harms men. The same gender roles that pigeon hole the vastness of human variability and potential into a tiny, ill fitting allotment of space for women, does the same thing to men. It is the same coin, just different sides.
Male children are raised to cut off their emotions, to cut off their vulnerability, to cut off their needs- and by doing that, our culture has also cut off their ability to be fully human and to fully connect to others as human. This is a thing done to them, and yes, women have a hand in it.
Women are not better than men. Hurting men does not help women. We are all humans. Scoffing at and dismissing the ways the men and boys are hurting does not help anything. It is not a neutral act. It is directly harmful to everyone.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

There are plenty of good men out there. I know them. There are plenty of men who were raised by good people, there are men who looked around and put in the effort to learn and build the skills they were denied, and there are men who simply have been alive long enough that they've been able to leave the box they were put in.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

I would really like to see people analyzing what happened and why, instead of arguing about who's fault it is.
Americans have a weird way of thinking that they know the politics and actions of a person, based on their race and gender.
The fact of the matter is a lot of women voted for Trump. A lot of Latinos voted for trump. A lot of millennials and gen z voted for Trump. A lot of college educated folks voted for Trump.
We, as people who are not conservatives, need to ask why. We need to look at the data, we need to look at what voters said, we need to get to the why. And then we need to change things.
Put down the blaming and the shaming, and pick up the analysis and critical thinking skills. Ask why, don't assume you know. Look below the surface of your knee jerk reaction that every voter for Trump is at their heart a racist, uneducated, uncaring person. That's not their reasoning, and you're not going to change their minds by repeating what they think you think about them.

It's OK if you’re not OK right now. I’m certainly not. Mothman isn’t. We’re devastated. There’s a hollow crater in my chest where my heart ought to be. I’m sick with worry. But I can’t let it consume me. So we’re going to allow ourselves to grieve and then find actionable ways to counter what lies ahead.
That will look different for everyone, but one thing that will be universally required in the days and years ahead is compassion and an unshakable commitment to kindness.
We will help each other through this. We will find ways to help other people. We will protect the people we love and even those we don’t to the best of our abilities. Because that’s the only option we have.
We will do it angry, we will do it sad, we will do it terrified. But we will do it.
Please be gentle with yourself. Please don’t do anything to harm yourself. The world needs your light. It needs your anger and your hope. It needs you.

A very gentle reminder that one solution to despair is action; try to you find a way to help.
Look at your state and your community- what has changed? What can you do to support that change (if it's a good one) or mitigate it (if it's a bad one)? What are the on going problems of your community that aren't effected by this election and what can you do? What organizations are already working on them? Can you join them? Or donate? Or do free advertising for them?
Looking nationally, celebrate the wins. There are some.
What can you do to help? What groups are already working that you could join?

Ways in which this ai image is not, in fact, solar punk. Because I'm grumpy and going to indulge myself.
The walls are made of stone, but they are very, very thin. This makes them vulnerable to earth quakes, windstorms, etc. Also, one of the primary benefits of stone walls is their thermal mass. These have so little thickness, they wouldn't have any thermal mass and if it were in a temperate climate, this location would be miserably cold.
Spot lights are high and in recessed locations- they won't help you see to do work, they're useless up there.
No windows and no screens: lots of bugs, including disease carrying mosquitos. Bad idea.
Granite counter tops are expensive, not a diy project, require annual sealing to prevent staining, not easy to repair (but to be fair, not easy to damage), and since they're heavy would use up a lot of energy for transportation.
Lights burning energy just to look cool, as there's plenty of natural light
This is trying to look like it's in the tropics, and a big glass roof over head just makes me feel like the direct sun light would be hot and uncomfortable. But then there's plenty of openings for heat to leave. IDK, looks hot.
Things that could be solar punk, theoretically:
The gas stove could be powered by a biogas digester
The water from the sink could be diverted through a grey water system to water crops
All food waste could be composted to return nutrients to the crops
The lights could be used only when needed an powered by a solar panel
This could be an outdoor kitchen that's undergoing construction and is (remember, this is fiction) just being staged for this photograph and they're going to complete construction later.
The rocks in the walls might not actually be rocks, they could be actually constructed out of some new fangled fungus grown thing, allowing for thin walls grown off of waste product, and as this image is clearly trying to imply the tropics, perhaps the walls don't need to be very insulating
Maybe the windows actually have a super reflective and yet see through coating, so don't get roasted by the leaky greenhouse in equatorial sun

Hey folks, this is a friend of mine IRL, and they are awesome, and their cinnamon rolls are awesome. Seriously the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had. If you want a chance to help a really awesome person support themselves, here's your chance:
Also if you're ever in Olympia, Wa their cinnamon rolls are in both food co-ops and now the Pawsific NorthWest Cat Cafe.

Hi fellow vegans! I need some help. I got an interesting anon a while back about whether vegan communities accept trans people. I know that we don't represent all vegans and this isn't going to be all I use in my answer, but I still wanted to know.
If you're vegan and a trans ally or trans please reblog this to show your support <3
