I’ve been feeling oddly wistful about the concept of seasons.
Like, we get these variations on daylight and weather all thanks to Earth’s position relative to the sun and so many parts of human culture revolve around it.
We change how we dress at different times of the year! We eat different food, historically out of necessity and availablity but now out of tradition! And the holidays- how so many cultures base have similar festivities int he same seasons (life celebrations in the spring! light and hope based festivities to help us through cold winters!)
Even the differences are interesting, like how the west associate the start of the school year with autumn leaves thanks to the august/september start date but Japan would associate it with cherry blossom petals since they start in April. Or how the Southern Hemisphere celebrates Christmas in their summer
And it’s not exclusive to humans, season impact animals! They hibernate, have their young, migrate, or grow and shed their coats!

Is anyone else finding themselves less enthusiastic about Sonic Racing Crossworlds the more non-Sonic/Sega IPs they announce?
Idk, I feel like I’d be less annoyed if they marketed the game as something more neutral like Crossworlds:Racing, and then the game happened to also have a significant part of the roster be Sonic characters due to being developed/published/whatever by Sega
#the sega characters don’t bother me- i mean miku is practically Sonic’s cousin in peoples minds at this point#and it’s nice for yakuza and persona to get rep when they didn’t in other sega racing games#but idk so many other IPs? they should’ve lead with that i think#zippy speaks#but if you are looking forward to the game and the non-sonic characters all the power to you!

#i do appreciate how what i’ve said is mostly applicable to moderate climates in the northern hemisphere#and also how climate change is blurring the lines in our expected seasonal weather#but that’s why i think we need to appreciate it more!#i think modern society doesn’t appreciate it as much- we can any food at any time of year. big holidays are bleeding into other months#zippy speaks#autumn#winter#spring#summer
