I was raised protestant though I no longer consider myself religious, and can confirm--I don't think there actually *is* a heaven or hell on a rational level, but still approach the world as though it were on an emotional / subconscious level. It's hard to truly comprehend oblivion in anything more than an abstract way.
Me when I think this 'god' thing is all a big lie but I do think those guys are all in heaven. Which exists.
Ask the median American protestant their views on god after two drinks they say shit like this. It rules.
People have always been people. The surface details change, but at our cores we are still the same apes in fancy suits trying to keep up with the world we don't fully understand even though we built it.
Do you think people used to have ADHD Text Reply Anxiety back in the day. Do you think there was some girl in the 1870s going "Oh, a letter from Esther, how delightful! I must make time to write her a reply this evening!" And then later she was like "It has been 5 months since Esther wrote me, and I am yet to reply. I fear I have tarried far too long, and if she receives a letter from me now it will seem terribly rude and she will want nothing to do with me. And yet, it is ruder still to not write her at all! I fear I am the only one to blame for my current predicament, as I am most terribly forgetful. Ah, but what a fool I am! I shall pray this evening for guidance from the Lord"
That's been Konami's business model for like a decade, hasn't it?
Still chewing through Foucalt's Pendulum. The idea of someone publishing an edition of the Liber Al vel legis that takes an "anti Crowley" stance is fucking hilarious.
Thats like saying you're remaking Metal Gear Solid to make it "anti kojima"
I once saw someone describe the 90's anime version of Minako as a "total fruit loop," and in the decades since, I have always thought of how accurate it is the second I see a picture of her.
This might be the most on-brand Minako I've ever drawn... (work in progress)
"Nobody would give a fuck about these Bugs Bunny cartoons if Bugs Bunny weren't in them!"
Frankly I disagree that pomni is the only appeal of the amazing digital circus but I have to say this comment is funny because she's literally the star. Like congrats anon you figured out what main characters were originally supposed to be for.
Wow wtf HIV/AIDS was discovered by Flossie Wong-Staal, an Chinese-American woman, and she’s the reason the HIV test even exists. AND THEN she invented the molecular knife that lead to treatments for HIV/AIDS. And she’s STILL ALIVE. We don’t hear about the contributions of Women of Color enough, my word. Madness.
Episode where they literally jump over a shark right as major changes start happening in the show
episodes that i think every tv show should have:
timeloop
whodunit
musical
beach trip
random genre change (especially if it's to a noir detective thing)
one where they get randomly meta and fourth wall breaky but then never acknowledge it again
one where something happened but we as the audience don't actually get to see how it happened and only see it through the unreliable narrated flashbacks as recollected by the characters
We used to do that with honey, in a little plastic bear. These days there are so many local apiarists and brands of, like, artisinal honey so you don't see the little bear as much anymore, but it used to be everywhere when you needed honey.
So apparently the Americans are unaware that in Australia, all soy sauce is distributed via tiny 1-inch fish bottles
Imagine a whole country never having tasted the nectar of the microplastic marlon, no wonder America is like that
