⸻  as  a  rule,  anton  tries  not  to  fraternize  with  vampires.

their  worlds  are  far  apart,  or  so  he  wants  to  think.  the  truth  is  that  both  he  and  star  are  being  controlled  by  their  instincts  right  now.  even  their  appetites  are  starting  to  mirror  each  other,  as  the  moon  threatens  to  reach  fullness  and  the  streets  of  santa  carla  clear  out  more,  and  more.

what  patience  he  has  left  is  faulty,  every  uncharacteristic  flaw  of  his  is  brought  to  light  by  that  damned  celestial  object.  it  drives  him  to  stand  from  his  seat,  waiting  on  one  final  thud  before  he  snatches  the  tennis  ball.

a  step  closer,  free  hand  reaches  out  to  push  the  window  up,  only  for  him  to  unceremoniously  toss  the  ball  out.  it  hits  pavement  somewhere,  with  a  bounce  or  two  to  taunt  him,  and  from  there  it's  out  of  sight.

"that's  what."

then,  he  retreats  back  to  his  chair  with  a  soft  huff.

Star knew she should be more understanding, put the tennis ball she had found on the beach back into her bag, but... She also had been spending the last number of decades with her Boys, and some of their antics had begun to wear off on even her. ⸻ as terribly bleak as this sounds, anton doesn't envision much of a future for himself anymore. if he were human with more time on his hands and could reasonably push his luck regarding longevity, perhaps he might care a bit more about the future. as it stands, he doesn't really think about it, nor does he make plans too far in advance. he supposes, at the end of the day, he simply wishes to continue surrounding himself with family.

⸻ no, and he's very relieved about that. he used to when he was younger, typically the same recurring nightmare regarding recent failures or dreams about fatherhood when it was still a very fresh part of his life for him to navigate. these days, he's rarely so stuck on something and doesn't remember his dreams nor nightmares enough for them to come up later.

⸻ yes. if there's one thing anton can brag about, it's the fact that he doesn't feel out of place and never really has. he's very sure of himself and the company he wishes to keep, and he doesn't stick around for very long if he perceives his presence as being unwanted. maybe it's the innate pack mentality thing but it has given himself a sense of belonging and he doesn't take that for granted when he's seen how many people don't get to experience the same.
