Marrakech this week

Marrakech has a lot to offer to its visitors at the moment..and apart from environmental awareness (COP22)..there are some pretty amazing works of art being displayed all around the city..

I was very lucky to catch the work of the legendary Mederic Turay (Ivory Coast) at BCK Art Gallery this week & stroll around his coffee based paintings (http://www.afrizap.com/en/mederic-turay)

While tonight I’m looking forward to the opening of Vince Low's show at BCK (http://bck.ma)

Now two months ago in between totally falling in love with Lisbon..I visited LAC (Laboratorio de Actividades Criativas) in Lagos, Portugal, a space for street artists from all over the world to collaborate & exchange ideas. Marrakech's equivalent is Jardin Rouge (http://montresso.com/en) a private property where renowned street artists can live, work, collaborate & exhibit.

What I'm most excited about at the moment while in Marrakech is the current exhibition at Jardin Rouge: 'Dos au mur' by KOUKA: (http://www.kouka.me/news/Kouka_Jardin-rouge_montresso_2016)

And now that I'm gradually managing to find my way around the Medina's maze my priority this weekend is to see the work of a street artist whose grandfather founded the...Nouveau Réalisme school (Francis Gruber) and whose work constantly reminds us that...'the public space, like the world, belongs to no-one and while it may be possible to seize territory, you cannot appropriate a culture.'
