innocent is written about someone who did something really horrible to taylor and she tried really hard to take the high road and show him grace and that’s why at the end of the song she says “lost your balance on a tightrope, it’s never too late to get it back”, telling him he can still become a better person. that matches up with her actions in real life when she chose to forgive him and try to be his friend but we found out years later that he continued to stab her in the back and she tried so hard to mend that relationship because she really wanted to be nice and cool about it. all of that to say: a decade later, she mentioned a tightrope again, saying “i’m still on that tightrope” and “still trying everything to keep you looking at me”. this mirrors what she talked about in miss americana perfectly: she tried so hard to be a nice good girl to the detriment of her own self. her own personal tightrope is needing other people’s validation, and one of the biggest examples of that in her own career is trying to help someone else get his balance again when he really didn’t deserve it.

Because what you are is not ugly, it's insecure. And I truly get that. I was like that too, but please hear me out.

You are not "ugly" you are just not your own version of attractive.

Imma take Austin Swift as an example. For me, I don't find Austin attractive AT ALL. Does that mean he is ugly? ABSOLUTELY NOT. he's just not my version of attractive.

But my ibf Zoë on the other hand, finds Austin super attractive. That just means me and Zoë have different opinions.

My point is that I know I can't really change how you feel about yourself, because I've been there, and I know that is a long and hard process.

But, if you next time you call yourself ugly correct yourself and say that you are not your own version of attractive, that is a small step the right way.

for lockdown i decided to start a little project: i decided to make a scrapbook for the whole Lover era chronologically, i haven't got very far but i have worked so hard on it so far! the front cover has a Lover sticker on the front, and the inside cover says "i'm even more excited for the next chapter" and then everything that happened in the Lover era will eventually be in the scrapbook. it will probably take years but i'm happy to do it!

here is the result for the finished project 💌💗 i made this project as a big thank you to all of my followers and friends, whether you are in this project or not i am so grateful. i posted the project today because i made my instagram account two years ago and that's just unbelievable. i'm so grateful to taylor for being the reason i made this account in the first place, and for helping me to make so many friends and memories. i made the account shortly after seeing taylor on the rep tour, which seemed to really make me realise how much she meant to me. i was going through a point of my life where i was losing many of my friends, and day by day i was becoming more and more in love with taylor and wanted to join the fandom more and more. thank you to everyone who has supported my page on instagram, and how on tumblr!

people always say this lyric is really confusing and makes no sense. this is what the lyric means to me, a cruel summer stan who will defend this song with her life:

it's just one of those simple things. the person she is writing about who, in my opinion, is joe, is just doing a normal thing, using a vending machine. and she is kind of just watching him and having a moment where she realises what's going on. like the moment she realises she is falling in love.

if anyone wants to ask me my opinion and interpretation of any of the cruel summer lyrics then feel free to ask because i have loads of ideas that i am prepared to spill
