advice for the new year: 1. Talk less. Do more. The fewer people that know your plans, dreams, business, the better. Move silently, and let your actions speak for u 2. Work harder than u ever have before, to get to where you’ve never been. You have to commit and overly dedicate yourself to your goals. 3. Miss out on the random turn ups. Less online “link ups”. Put your phone down & Surround yourself with people who genuinely care for you. 4. Respect yourself. That way people know you don’t tolerate disrespect and no one can come in thinking they can play with you & yours. 5. Eliminate the desire of wanting to rekindle old flames. What’s out, is out. Continue Moving forward. 6. Don’t allow yourself to be a “convenience” to anyone. Let go of anyone who only comes to you, needs you or wants you, on their own time. 7. Protect your dreams goals and desires. Nurture them with positive energy. All things are possible when you truly believe in YOU. 8. Your assignment from God is yours, only. Don’t let anyone question your purpose, persuade you to give up, or make you feel inadequate. 9. Procrastination doesn’t make success. Excuses don’t make success. Ambition does. Hunger does. Commitment does. You want it? Go get it. 10. You matter. Stop doubting that. You’re amazing. Stop questioning that. Stop giving people the power to treat you like you mean nothing.

how to make this year, your year
A list (mainly for me tbh) of things to help make this new year the best it can be :)
Drink water: this is so beneficial and being hydrated can help boost productivity
Set yourself some goals: break them down into smaller tasks & make them attainable. Make sure they’re somewhere they’ll always be insight!
Save: Put something away every week, even if it’s only $2, buy the end of the year you’ll have money you can treat yourself with, buy those plane tickets :D
Work hard: try sit at your desk/ go to the library 5/6 times a week, work on achieving your academic goals; prepare ahead of classes, refresh old materials; study a little every day
Try something new: join a new society, try out new hobbies, fun fun fun
Exercise: ew I know but even a 20 minute walk outside has so many benefits :)
Explore: go to new places! It doesn’t even have to be a new country, often the place you have explored the least is the area around you!
Do something you’ve always wanted to do: get out of your comfort zone and just do it, seriously.
Plan: start a bullet journal, write down what you need to do & when it needs to be done, it will help you be more productive & you’ll feel super organised
Eat well: eat fruit and veggies, try new foods & new combinations!
Organise your money: try out an app like Mint or Wally! It’ll surprise you how much you spend on some things and how much you can possibly save!
Read: educate yourself or transport yourself to different lives, just by opening a book! Download goodreads and set yourself a reading goal!
Take photos: it’s so nice to look back on! At the end of the year print them out and stick them in a lil’ notebook :)
Treat yourself: once a week/month or whenever, do something nice; go out for food, go to the movies, have fun
Make time for friends: friends are fun, chill & talk, watch movies whatever floats your boat
Have a sleep schedule: & stick to it, sleep cycle is v v helpfult for this
Do something for the greater good: volunteer/help out your local animal shelter/donate stuffs to charit, everything counts
Do things alone: ex. have a meal alone; it’s really refreshing every now and then just to chill & be in your own head & no one will judge you for it, promise.
I hope you all have the best 2017!

i wish to be skinny and a 4.0 gpa this semester!!! <3
reblog and make a wish! this was removed from tumbrl due to “violating one or more of Tumblr’s Community Guidelines”, but since my wish came true the first time, I’m putting it back. :)

Conversation
Actual Ravenclaw™: Barely passes any classes because they never study, constantly procrastinating, forgot the word for "nightstand" and spent ten minutes at 12am trying to Google it, has a folder on their phone just for memes, alternates between weeks without reading at all to devouring three books in six days or less, they have no idea what's actually happening in their lives, Fake It Till You Make It

1st of January, 2017 hey’ it’s 2017. As I look back at what i’ve done this 2016, I’ve realized that i haven’t done anything special; my study habits were non-existent, I had shit grades + shittier life in all honesty. I was stressed out, grumpy and just not content with my life because of school. But now, i’m changing for the better this 2017 by changing how I study. ps,this post will be text heavy.
like/reblog if you found it helpful, + i’ve worked so hard for this post :)
TIPS
e i n s : use an effective note-taking system like the ‘Cornell notes’.
The Cornell notes is just one example of a note-taking system and a lot of you probably knows about this already. The Cornell notes was created in the 1950s by Walter Pauk, a professor from Cornell University.
The Cornell notes is ideal for concept-driven or memory-dependent subjects (such as science, history and etc.)

The effectiveness of Cornell Notes actually comes from the “cue” column, where you make questions in response to the information written in the “notes” column.
z w e i : find a study group or a network
A network is a great way to meet new people with similar interest, find study buddies, or just a place to chill and talk to when you’re stressed out. Finding a studyblr network is fairly easy, just search studyblr network on tumblr and you’ll see tons of them. A couple of networks that I joined in are:
@teamstdy‘s small studyblr network |
@studyblr‘s 2017 study network |
@silverystudies‘ New studyblr net |
I assume they aren’t taking applications now because they have announced the member results. But there are more study networks that I’ve found which I’ve reblogged, but not joined: (I don’t know if they’re taking-in new members, but it’s worth a shot)
@studyquill‘s The study cult | @thestudycult
@empathias‘ Astronomy and Sci-fi study group | @astronomystudies
@fluentnet‘s Get fluent network |
@intellectus‘ study and chill |
@senstudies‘ Bangtan study net | @btstudynet
@sundayscholar, @etudiance, and @studyingbrains‘ Studyblrs of color | @studyblrsofcolor
And that’s some networks that I’ve found! Message me if there are more!
d r e i : use the SQ5R reading strategy
The SQ5R is an improved version of the SQ3R reading strategy (survey > question > read > recite > review), which is used for studying non-fiction reading materials. For more information, I’ll be providing you links I’ve found which is really helpful in understanding how to do this.
[ unang link, pangalawang link]
v i e r : study less, study smart
Studying less and studying smart can help you stay focused and take-in more information because of the shorter study sessions.
Study in chunked sessions, most likely 45 minutes. it’s because people tend to remember things better when they learn related ideas in small chunks, rather than trying to cram all the details of a topic into their heads at once. Which is by the way, our favorite thing to do, cramming lol. during your break, you could stretch your muscles by walking around and rest your eyes and mind.
Designate an area wherein you only use it to study. Don’t study in your bed because it usually just makes you feel sleepy + it’s a place to sleep, not study. Here’s a post I found that would be useful [ mindful study space | @succulentstudy ]
Feed your brain. What we eat and drink affects our concentration and memory. Caffeine and alcohol are mind altering drugs which have long lasting effects on your brain chemistry. That means that many hours after you ingest these, your concentration and memory, as well as mood, will be affected. So I suggest you to lower your intake on this beverages and eat some oily fish, eggs, fruits and vegetables instead.
f u n f : use the Pomodoro method
The Pomodoro method/technique is a useful way to study in chunks, just follow this steps.

+ To know more about it, check this link out:

And yeah, that’s it! Goodness, i’ve worked hard for this, especially in the making of the graphics so i would appreciate it if you guys would like and reblog it for others to use or see. also, happy new year guys! (Sumakit ulo ko kakagawa neto a, hahaha, lalo na dahil ang bagal ng internet)
