the brother

as a child i would wish to be a monster. wind beneath my wings, claws sharp enough to tear a gash in the fabric of the sky. a monster. something strong, something that would allow me to carry you out of this wretched place; and now i've got that, and it occurs to me that most gifts come with a price.

the sister

i was alone, except with you. to be loved, a thing i'd almost never been: a dream of mine but more than that; lifting the burden of a little bit of the fury in my heart. i wanted to free myself from that heavy blanket called kindness, to finally be the thing they said i was so many years ago. yes. to shed my layers and fly free with the sun glinting off my crimson scales. and now i've got that, and it occurs to me that most gifts come with a price.

i know unicorns are usually silver or lavender with those skinny horse legs built for running but id like to see more unicorns with natural colouration built like tanks like these beasts
