CAS PROJECT
Our CAS project (Lila, Wiktoria, Emma, and I) aims to raise awareness of first aid and teach people how to respond to basic emergencies. We are now moving from the planning stage to the preparation stage, with action coming soon. During the investigation phase, we discovered a need for improved first aid knowledge, especially among students who may not know how to respond to emergency situations. We interviewed people our age about their current knowledge and found that even basic first aid knowledge was not enough in many cases. This encouraged us to take action. During the planning stage, we spoke about our goals and how we could effectively share first aid information with others. We chose to create a visual, interactive presentation that included important tips and scenarios. We divided jobs among our group and started with gathering reliable data from official first aid resources. This stage helped us with setting up specific responsibilities and realistic goals, as well as taking into account the project's details such as where and how we would present our materials. We started creating graphics and presentations that explain basic first aid procedures such as CPR, how to manage minor injuries, and when to call for help. We are also preparing ourselves by ensuring that we understand the content thoroughly enough to explain it to others. Reflecting on the process we’ve made so far, I think that a good and structured plan and preparation is just as important as other steps of every project. We, as a group, are confident with what we have so far and what we’ve prepared, to continue working on our project.

reflection on progress with each of the Learning Outcomes
1. Identifying My Own Strengths and Areas for Growth
With every cas activity I did, I could easily identify my own strengths and areas for growth, and that’s why I improved. For example, with baking I could notice areas which needed improvement and for the next time I focused on them, ensuring that the outcome was better than before. Similarly with going to the gym and skiing, I identified my weaknesses and worked on improving them.
2. Undertaking New Challenges & Developing Skills
By undertaking new challenges I developed amazing skills, which overtime helped me in making even more progress. For example, I taught myself to make patterns for sewing from scratch, which was me undertaking a challenge. Later on I developed skills of pattern drafting that led to my sewing improvement.
3. Planning and Initiating Activities
I planned and initiated activities like making presentations for RaszTV with my friends, as well as activities I did on my own like going to the gym or sewing. I think at the very start I struggled with great planning, but as the months went on I only got better at it.
4. Working Collaboratively with Others
For each act of service for CAS, I worked collaboratively with others. For example, for RaszTV I collaborated with my friends to make presentations together. For helping in the Daj Herbatę foundation I collaborated with my friends as well. I think that as we worked together, we didn't encounter any issues in communicating and it went really smoothly.
5. Showing Perseverance and Commitment
For showing perseverance and commitment, I regularly either baked or sewed, I regularly went to the gym, to run or on walks. Moreover, each month I either made presentations or helped in school related stuff, as well as helped around in the Daj Herbatę foundation.
6. Engaging with Issues of Global Importance
For engaging with issues of Global Importance, my Cas project that I'm working on with my friends focused on first aid that is connected to a global issue of health awareness during emergencies. My engagement with the issue of global importance was also shown through my work in the Daj Herbatę foundation, in which I helped in preparing food for those in need.
7. Recognizing and Considering the Ethical Implications of My Actions
I considered the ethical implications of my actions mostly when doing CAS service, such as helping out in the Daj Herbate Foundation. I was able to realize how my action of service, which was simply making sandwiches and delivering them to a given spot, helped many people who needed it. It was something that didn’t take up a lot of my time, but it still contributed to helping others.

Cas reflection
Throughout DP1 as I documented my CAS progress every month, I think I enjoyed the creativity part the most. I did many things such as baking or sewing in many different forms, which definitely was both fun and educational for me. I discovered great cooking websites by researching recipes for the things I baked. Moreover, I expanded my skills when it comes to sewing and its process. I learned how to draft patterns all by myself and this skill has improved my sewing projects significantly, as it ensured a really good fit of the clothes and less mistakes along the process of sewing. The greatest challenge during CAS in DP1 was the systematic documentation. At the very beginning I had some problems with being motivated to stay systematic and not put off doing CAS, but overtime I motivated myself to do it all on time, as I noticed that the amount of work can pile up quite quickly. Especially when I need to keep track of everything I’m doing every month and then write about it. That leads to the abilities and skills I developed in CAS, which I’d say are doing my work on time and systematically, as well as sewing and being precise all along the process to avoid small mistakes. Moving on to the IB learners profile attributes I developed through my CAS experience, I think I was a thinker while teaching myself how to sew better and try out new recipes, as well as prepare interesting and educational presentations for the RASZTV. I think I became more knowledgeable by learning new things with each cas activity. I learned new things with every presentation, every creative project and every time I went to the gym by simply trying new things and learning about them.

Creativity: editing photos from my digital camera
During may, I didn't really have time to sew anything due to mocks. That's why I decided to try and edit my summer camera photos in Lightroom and experiment with different colour gradings. I think it was very fun and I will definitely do it again and try to improve.

Action: bike ride in copenhagen
During the Copenhagen trip, me and my mom decided to explore the city by the electric Lime bikes. It was really fun, as they were super quick and it was our first time riding them. The bike ride lasted for about an hour and we saw different parts of the city from a new perspective.

Action: Long walks in copenhagen
During my trip to Copenhagen I mostly walked around the city, which rounded up to around 20k steps every day for a couple of days. I explored the city and visited various places like museums or parks. The weather was really nice, making walking around nice as well.

Service: presentation
For service during May, my friends and I prepared a presentation about the international world environment day that happens on the 5th of June. We displayed the presentation in our school Rasz TV for everyone to see and read. I think this choice of topic was great, as I educated myself on a topic I didn’t really know that much about.

Action - gym
For action in April, I went to the gym a couple of times. I did various workouts each targeting different body parts. However, the most common was running on the treadmill, as that’s something I enjoy doing the most. I would say that I’m satisfied with the progress that I’ve made so far since starting going to the gym.

Action- gym
For action in April, I went to the gym a couple of times. I really enjoy running outside, however for it to be enjoyable, it has to be warmer that it was in April. That’s why I still kept going to the gym to do various workouts, rather than running outside, which I’m going to take up again in May.

Creativity - cooking pasta
For creativity in April, I decided to try a new pasta recipe. I used the ingredients that I had, because I wasn’t at home, and wasn’t surrounded by my usual cooking supplies. I chopped up some onion and garlic and later on added it to the pan with heated olive oil. Then I aded tomato paste and tomato passata. After combining that, I shredded some parmesan and added it along with some whipping cream. Then I added different spices. After the sauce and pasta was done, I combined both. Overall, I think I improved my general cooking skills and I learned how to use a (portable kitchen?). I enjoyed the meal and I think it was very good.

Creativity - baking cookies
For creativity in April, me and my boyfriend wanted to bake cookies for the school bake sale. I found a recipe online from a website specialising in different desserts. We baked chocolate fondant cookies that were made of cookie dough and a dark chocolate, melted mass inside of the cookie. The process of baking went really smoothly and we didn’t encounter any challenges regarding the recipe or the baking part. Overall, I was very satisfied with the results and every person who tried them at the bake sale was as well.

Service - bake sale
For service in April, I helped with the organisation of the school bake sale. I brought cookies that I’ve prepared the day before and helped out during the breaks. I spent 2 long breaks and a couple of the 5 minute ones selling the things that other students brought.

Service - school entrance exams
For service in April, I signed up for help out during the school entrance oral exams. My job was to answer any questions that the potential students and their parents had. I also pointed students to where they should go, when they needed it.
