luke skywalker in the context of andor is sooooo. smiley insane overpowered teenager from the middle of fucking nowhere shows up at the eleventh hour No credentials No connections No resumƩ just happened to somehow rescue alderaanian senator leia organa from the death star with an absolutely braindead gambit in which he just. pretended to be a stormtrooper, with a wookiee in tow. then he gets in an X-wing for the first time ever, turns off the targeting computer, and blows up the greatest weapon the empire has ever created with one fuckoff impossible shot. meanwhile all these rebels who have spent years, their entire lives, existing in fear and deprivation and exile, painstakingly building this movement with their bare hands, paying in blood and sweat and tears, so far removed from the world of the jedi that the knights and the force are just stories now, to most of them -- these brave exhausted souls who know that no one person can stand against the empire, that it takes community, it takes trust, it takes you and the guy standing next to you -- find themselves watching essentially the rebirth of a mythological protector, in the form of a guy who's probably not legally old enough to drink, who sulks like a teenager whenever notorious smuggler han solo doesn't pay attention to him, who follows biggs around like a puppy, who falls for literally every prank anyone ever plays on him. and this idiot kid is the first person in a generation who can stand up to the empire, all alone, and make a difference. how much must they hate him and how much must they love him and how much must they fear losing him.

The worst thing you can do, as someone who has recently realised they are transfem, is to let terves and transphobes convince you cis women will never accept you.
I was told that when I came out everyone would reject me. That I would find myself isolated from the world, and from other women especially, who would react to me with horror and revulsion.
In reality, within the first months of coming out, in no particular order:
My sister's reaction on my coming out was, "Right, so I have a sister instead of a brother. Cool. I'm taking you clothes shopping tomorrow."
A friend, when she learned I am a woman, immediately invited me to her women-only, girls-night-out birthday party the following week.
Another friend, when a friend of hers expressed doubts about my gender, immediately shut them down and reaffirmed I am a woman.
I went camping with a group of friends, and we had two tents, one for the boys and one for the girls; I was unsure as to which I should enter, to which a girl friend responded by grabbing me and physically dragging me inside the women's tent.
In the women's bathroom at a movie theatre a random woman, whom I'd never seen before and haven't seen since, stopped me as I was going into a stall, to warn me there was no toilet paper in there, because she'd just used the last of it.
All of these, and more, some from friends, some from complete strangers. All within a few months, as a trans woman who hadn't started medical transition yet, and was very visible as being a trans woman.
I've had some people reject me, true, but the vast majority, including almost all cis women, accepted me as a sister with open arms.
Cis women are cool. It's terves who are bigots.

The statements "burying your gays is defined as when a gay character is specifically killed off for the sake of being killed off and given much less prominence than any cishet character deaths, Cintaās death was afforded just as much weight as Brassoās (and we know that the point is most of the main cast arenāt going to survive)ā and "it was still really fuckin upsetting as an audience to watch Cinta just die after finally getting an onscreen kiss" can and should coexist

not to sound like a weak, morally impure centrist over here, but i think online leftist communities need to be a little more accepting of the concept that most people are just. not that well informed. we live in a society that provides access to an overwhelming amount of information and yet which discourages actually diving into much beyond the surface level. Most of the people you meet out in the world are just not gonna know much about a lot of what you care about, but that's not the same as being against those things, or being unwilling to learn, or being unnamenable to those ideas. Our modern society is an unending cascade of information and misinformation and disinformation and filtering through that shit enough to actually have a solid grasp of a subject, let alone a nuanced antiestablishment political take, is a skill that takes time and effort to develop, time and effort that is in very short supply. It really bothers me when I see leftists talk about how capitalism keeps us down by taking up all our time and energy and making recovery, both physical and emotional, cost what little we can afford, and then turn around and get upset that people are politically uninformed. On some level, you gotta meet some people where they are, and have a little faith in them to be open to new ideas and information. Ignorance is not inherently intentional, and it's not the same as antipathy.

honestly my favorite thing about andor was how important the women were to the rebellion. you donāt have luthen without kleya. their main agents are vel and cinta. you donāt have aldhani without them. you donāt have cassian without bix and maarva. you donāt even have the alliance without mon. none of this exists without the women and thatās so so important.

Wow, now there's a bot going around on Ao3 telling people that the "moderators" will delete works from "deprecated" fandoms and impose bans.
Fearmongering bullshit, but it's fearmongering bullshit that seems to be taking advantage of the recent spotlight series in order to trick authors into deleting their fics.
Just. Why.
What the hell does anyone get out of making these bots.
