Here's the more silly side of things. XD Just in case it's not obvious, these silly premature ending screens should not be taken seriously and are meant more as easter eggs. The text for the end of Day 1 is just a placeholder for now and will likely change.
SkekSo here is wearing an altered version of his clothes from the Legends manga. We also kept skekLach and skekVar's appearances and personalities from the manga, but all have had some edits done, mainly in regard to the size of their carapaces.

It's the 42nd anniversary of TDC today! Thought I would celebrate by sharing a bit more of preview of the game. I keep flip-flopping between a serious tone and a silly one XD Can it be both???
This post was meant to be two videos and a few images, but tumblr only allows me to upload 1 video at a time. I'll upload the rest as a separate post.
Oh yeah, and this game is based more in the og continuity (80s lore + Legends; although technically this story is set BEFORE Legends), so some lore things are not going to line up with AoR, just a heads up.
(that white menu at the bottom of the screen will be absent for the final version of the game, it's just there now to make things easier for me while I work on the game)

Some screenshots of the game at last, and progress is progressing! The preview for chapter 1 still isn't ready though <_< We need to go through the dialogue again since a lot of it was written very hastily when we first started working on the game. Additionally, background music is still in the process of being added.
I would like to point out now that, while not all darkness will be absent, this will be a fairly light hearted game (despite the focus being on Skeksis), and will have its fair share of silly moments. We're still establishing the tone, but that's the aim for now. :)
Disclaimer: Do some parts of the backgrounds look vaguely familiar? Marion Poinsot (creator of the TDC fangame "Before the Dark Crystal") has kindly provided access to her assets to all fans who wish to create their own fangames. While mostly not direct copies, I have referenced parts of her backgrounds and assets (items like pillars, containers) for this game.

Some more previews of the Skeksis in the game (top left is an interpretation of skekSa based on how she was described in the book rather than the more well known coverart + some inspiration from skekCru, the Mariner design from TDC manga Legends). Ignore the weird pastel coloured backgrounds, I chose them at random while inking thes birbs so as not to get eyestrain from a white screen. Progress is slow but going well, only three Skeksis remain to be coloured in now. Feeling a bit conflicted about whether I can use official soundtrack music or not (there is another older TDC fangame (maybe two) that did and didn't have a copyright problem). I will probably need to start seeking out copyright free music just to be on the safe side <_<u

SkekNa's sprites are now complete, here's a few of them. Out of all the Skeksis to appear in the game, he is the charactest you LEAST want to see smiling; it probably means an game over state is near.
Small thing I want to mention now: not all of the Skeksis will be major characters. We will be including 12-14 of them, all of which you will be able to interact with, but only 5 will have game routes. SkekNa is not a major Skeksis, but his opinion of you will influence the others, and vice versa.
Also, we're probably not going to manage the original plan to release the preview for the first part of the game this month. I am going to tentatively suggest it will be late October now.

SkekOk's avatars for the game are now complete (here are a few of his expressions, there are ten in total). All the other Skeksis have now been inked too, so its just a matter of colouring them in now.

SkekZok the Ritual Master, some previews for the character art for a skeksis-centric fangame I am working on with friends. A preview demo of which should hopefully be available sometime in September.
