What Happens When A Seizure Occurs
What Happens When A Seizure Occurs
Tumblr media
Today’s post will be one that is very informative and some may even want to know about…what happens when a seizure occurs.
The brain is the important organ in the body. It controls everything that you do such as touching, walking, tasting, chewing, talking, and the list goes on.
A seizure happens when a sudden surge of electrical discharge happens in the brain that affects the way a person…

The Seizure Diary
Tumblr media
Photo by: Me From: Angels Of Epilepsy
Since I needed a new seizure diary, I decided to buy one from the Angels of Epilepsy Foundation in Georgia. They are a nonprofit organization dedicated to spreading awareness about epilepsy and helping those who live with it.
The Seizure Diary came in the mail a few days ago. I immediately opened it up and looked at what is inside. It’s very useful might I…

Never Joke About Epilepsy
Never Joke About Epilepsy
Tumblr media
I was just thinking about this particular topic. I was just approached by a friend that someone that they know said he/she had a seizure and was admitted into the hospital. My friend asked him/her many questions about the symptoms (basically, symptoms I told them when I have complex partial seizures). They couldn’t even respond to it. I want to talk to the person and ask them more questions about…

Information On Onfi
Tumblr media
After talking to my doctor and nurse about the seizure that I had, they decided to put me on onfi and take me off that lamotrigine 100 mg tablets. Thank God! I just got the medication today and started taking it tonight. I have the 10 mg pill but they starting me at 5 mg thus I have to cut them in half. I had to call the pharmacist and get a clarification on why I had the 10 mg tablets. They said…

Seizure Response Plan
Since I’ve been in school, the likelihood of me having seizures have went up due to stress and/or sleep deprivation. I had my follow-up appointment with my neurologist and had a discussion with him about me having a few auras lately. He placed me on a lower dose of the same medication I’m already taking, lamotrigine. These pills are at 100 mg. Ever since then, I had been experiencing intense side…

Status Epilepticus
Status epilepticus is a state in epilepsy in which a seizure last longer than five minutes without recovery in between each seizure. It is a very serious condition that can potentially be fatal.

Crystiana’s Accomplishments
I promised everyone that I would do an updated post about my baby girl. Just in a month of me writing on here, she has done so much. A few days ago, she just started walking. Before then, she was crawling while at the same time standing. It was an unusual first step of walking but it was cute. It was almost like the way a gorilla walks. I can’t help but laugh at her adorable self.  She is…

Results From Video EEG #4
Results From Video EEG #4
Tumblr media
I went to my neurologist to discuss my EEG results on October 10th. She told me exactly what happened–I had about four to six small seizures in my sleep. She let me know that the seizure focus moved back to my temporal lobe. The results from the EEG two years ago found it was in the frontal lobe. She informed me to start taking vitamin D supplements to prevent osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a…

Getting Things Settled
For the most part, the transition in changing my name on my accounts and important documents have been easy. I didn’t have any problems with that. After I received the court papers for the Change of Name of Adult, I immediately went to my health insurance caseworker and submitted my court order to her to change it on my Medicaid account. I did this on August 7th. Within that time, I never saw the…
