Hey friends!!

Sorry for the radio silence, but I have a little update on “A Matter of Life and Death” for those who are interested!

I have a week off at the end of August that I want to dedicate to the story, so I’m aiming to have two or three chapters posted around that time to kinda make up for the impromptu hiatus I ended up going on!

I can’t promise any art, but for the next update (I’m trying to get back on track) I might have a comic or something ready to share!

Ohhhh Interesting i wondering why do you choose the name lilith for your oc?

Without spoiling too much—

Lilith has a lot of repressed anger, fear and guilt that lead her to make some pretty grievous mistakes in her past. Most of them were made out of desperation and immaturity, but, because she felt a deep responsibility for the hurt that she caused, she decided she wasn’t “worthy” of the title of the Goddess of Love. So, instead, she figured if she appeared like a devil and she was going to act like a devil, that naturally, she should be named after a devil.

The twist is that the modern interpretation of the demon “Lilith” is based on my Lilith/Inanna in the story canon — both look-wise and historically speaking. So she didn’t become the demon, the demon became her, and the world sort of adopted this warped version her as true — a version that never really existed. Basically she thought, if the world only sees me as a monster, then that must be what I am.

In mythology, there are a lot of threads of commonality that connect ancient, extinct religions to modern folklore — some people would even suggest the Biblical Lilith is just a bastardization of Ishtar/Inanna (or is possibly derived from the ancient Mesopotamian, Lilitu, which also has it’s connections to Inanna/Ishtar). I kinda ran with that idea! Because I thought, hey, you know what would be interesting? If the Oldest Goddess On Earth ran around inventing new identities for herself in order to fit into new pantheons after hers ends up defunct.

But anyway, long story short — Lilith is called Lilith as a self-imposed punishment for her “crimes”! Lots of miscommunication and self-esteem issues floating around here!

Yes! She is! But she doesn’t really want to be 😂

She’s the ancient Sumerian goddess, Inanna, using Lilith as her modern day persona. She gave up her original name a long, long time ago and wears this new title like a kind of horse-hairshirt.
