Again. My hero... in this particular version i love the shaking rhythm which makes you wanna swing like Eddie does in the video...

Maybe this ain’t one of the most “Van Halenish” songs they recorded but that staccato rhythm... god, i wish i was there.

And of course lets talk about the lyrics:

my hero. the one. Eddie MOTHERFUCKING Van Halen. i wish i could explain to you how much i admire Eddie. His expressions when playing THAT intro... maan i always wanted to be an “Eddie Van Halen on bass guitar”

those were the golden years, the years of David Lee Roth with his charisma on stage, he and Eddie OWNED that stage.  It was theirs, they went out every night and wowed the world. i confess that i bought a 7 string bass just to emulate his parts note by note...

i wish i could have written this episode of #60songs waaaaaay better but i seriously can’t find the words tho explain how much i love Eddie...

Sex and Death - Motorhead

Here it is. another Motorhead song. yeah.

but you actually can’t imagine how big is their influence on me... Sex n Death (i know “n”... just lemme be a cool kid, c’mon) is a kinda “ordinary” Motorhead song but it has this super cool stop when the lyrics go:

Be damned, if you can't handle it, (We) hope you break your neck- Sex and Death!

that hits you in the guts like a motherfuckin cannon ball, this is for sure a party tune for its velocity and raw energy typical of most of Motorhead’s songs plus its canon-like intro is something totally unexpected that contributes to make this an asskicking song.

Tip: Put on yer plugs, blast the volume, open a stout beer and enjoy this tune.

anyway… here it is: i first heard this song about 3 years ago (i know it’s kinda late for A SONG LIKE THIS, but hey i got my times) and maaan, i was totally hooked. THAT GUITAR TONE, THAT RHYTHm SECTION. woah. this is for sure a blow-that-shit-up song, in fact when i hear it i immediately feel the need of blast the volume… YOU CAN’T JUST PLAY IT LOW…

Stay Clean - Motorhead

Woah, so... let’s begin this... i gotta admit i was kinda young when i first met Lemmy & Co. but the one thing immediately hooked me was his goddamn bass tone... it’s the fartest thing from THE traditional concept of “Bass Tone” (if you accept there’s a “traditional bass tone”, which i don’t) but it pops out so greatly between the guitars n drums that it’s totally impossible not to recognise it out of thousands bass tones... Lem was an incredible rhytmicist and his attitude, playing n singing style will always be with me no matter whether i’m playing jazz or black metal.

About this particular live version i love the bass solo n Lemmy’s stage presence which is outstanding as always.

sum new shit

so, it's been a hell of a long time since my last post but whatever. i just wanted to tell ya few things: - we finally found a gooddamn singer - the new goddamn singer is awesome i mean... you can't even imagine how fucking great is not to have to care about the vocals... it's like an awesome new found freedom that allows me to play on my bloody bass what i REALLY want (and feel) to play, you know not all of us are Geddy Lee and when i HAD to sing i felt like something was missing from my basslines, like i couldn't focus entirely on the groove and on the harmony of the whole song. But now... Oh man. I fucking love my instrument more every day. So thank YOU Beatrice for having set free my creativity and for being such an awesome human being n singer.

Dear Little Lzzy

Dear Little LZZY, I know it sounds crazy, but this little hair-brained plan to start a rock band is Actually gonna work. It’s going to be your greatest risk and greatest adventure. You will wonder at times if you’re crazy for always moving forward, don’t. It’s that forward movement that will save you. You also will question whether or not you are “cool” enough to be a rockstar…your not…but neither were any of your idols so it’ll be ok. You are Tough, remember that no matter what this life throws at you… you can pull through. Your fervor and drive for the band are what keeps you sane, so use that, but don’t forget that you are human too, and to give that “smushy center Lzzy”, some love once and a while. If you are worried about finding Love, don’t. It will happen when you aren’t looking, you will even deny it for a while… but this love will end up being the most amazing love you’ve ever known. It will make you feel sorry for everyone who doesn’t have a love like yours. Ha! You will be astonished at all you will accomplish, and humbled by the pure chaos of it. You will make history, and reserve a seat a this generations round table of woman rockers. You will even win a Grammy! I know right? Who knew? People will pay attention to what you say and do. But take pride in being honest and being yourself. Embrace the freedom of it. Not everyone is going to agree with your words or actions, or the music you create. But remember that your life is yours alone. So do whatever the fuck you want. Amidst all the chaos, pressure and amazing moments this rock&roll life throws at you Don’t forget… Your success is not measured by the way you carry yourself down a red carpet laid in front of you…your success is measured by how you carry yourself knowingly through a path of land mines.
