Yewon for Neolucky, featuring also Yarrow! Not to be super cheesy but I stumbled across Yewon and Yarrow on DeviantArt circa 2009 and they actually imprinted on me, being a major initial inspiration for Igore. I still know so little about these two and yet I get giddy everything I see them on any socials.

1000% agreed. Children don’t know the rules and yet they make for the sake of creating it. I think that sort of advice applies well for certain moments in one’s life. If they feel comfortable Not making any rules, then let’s introduce some. If all they want is rules, go ahead and brake the ones you know. Learning is like a seesaw!

Unfortunately I see lots of artists in isolation that don’t receive touchpoints and feedback from peers and instead drill in advice deep in their subconscious and just let it marinate, poisoning their making, Hindering their learning. Expose yourself to things!!! Absorb other work and nature!!

Coming from a place of consistently studying art fundamentals for years, i dont think the "know the rules before u break them" standard is at all necessary for creating art. Yes studying fundamentals can improve your technical knowledge base, but the root of what makes art "good" is not a matter of technical prowess. For me, expanding my horizons by observing/listening/reading different media than what was originally within my bubble has benefitted my art in ways more valuable than any how-to ever has

Tw violent instrusive thoughts

A strategy to face intrusive thoughts that I’ve been using for a bit now is so assess *what* is it that a scenario thinks I should be prepared to face. Almost always it’s grief related to people, body ability, access to shelter, etc.

So if I’m driving on the highway and I have a vision of crashing, tolling my car, going to the hospital and losing the ability to hold a pencil, I pull out a mental uno card: “wow! I care about having the ability to go places, and I’m grateful for my body’s current abilities”.

Evolutionarily speaking that anxiety is there to prepare me for a deadly scenario, but in my case it actually stunts me readiness by making me nervous and putting annoying and disturbing ideas in my head!!!

So like a demon on my shoulder I assess what it’s trying to care about and validate the love that it thinks I’ll lose.
