the purple stripe represents the violet flower. the green strips represent the stem and leaves. the white stripe, as it usually does in my flags, represents the transgender community. altogether i just wanted to make a nice looking flag for dykes like me, so the symbolism in this flag is very minimal

VHS box for "Linda/Les and Annie: The First Female-to-Male Transsexual Love Story" a (1989) docu-porn about Annie Sprinkle’s relationship with transsexual Les Nichols as he transitions from female to male. We follow Les through hormone treatments and surgery. The ending has Annie and Les having sex after Les has gender affirming surgery (a vaginal preserving phalloplasty.) This was the first FTM pornographic film and it screened at over 100 film festivals. It was very controversial receiving backlash from within the transmasc community at the time. Respectability to cis people and therefore adhering to a uniform & cisnormative as possible trans experience was encouraged, discourse that was heightened by such little representation being available. Despite some dated discussions/ language around transness (for which the director now says she would do differently) it remains an interesting insight into a trans man's life in this time period and his more unique medical transition, which was part of the backlash he received.
