The soldiers of Shinra in New Midgar are hired for a strange mission. A monster described as half-man, half-wolf has been seen outside the remote village of Niebelheim. The description matches that of an omega. But what would an omega be doing so far away from New Midgar?

Shinra sends its elite soldiers Sephiroth, Angeal and Genesis, along with Angeal's mentee Zack, to investigate. They find a scared and almost feral omega namned Cloud, who has escaped from "the Bad Place".

They soon realize there's something sinister going on involving abducted omegas...

Meanwhile, Cloud needs to learn to live in the city, and Zack grows more and more attached to him.

Cloud Strife lost it all. Which is a lot to say, considering he never had much to begin with. Living as an outcast in the small town of Nibelheim was already bad enough. How did this happen? How could this have happened? No matter. His only option was to join SOLDIER. It was all he had left to look forward to in life. He didn't know that joining SOLDIER would be the final nail in the coffin, the thing that'd set everything into it's horrific place.
