my oc: selma

backstory:

- born and raised in zaun

- she has very few memories of her parents, since they

- was taken care of by her sibling (older sister) until the age of 9 until her older sister left for an opportunity in piltover.

- to fend for herself she began stealing, bargaining, and getting into the wrong crowds.

- she gets involved in a gang. said gang gets caught stealing money throws her under the bus (because she’s the youngest and most naïve). she gets tossed in jail. (around the same time vi goes to jail).

note: she’s only twelve at the time!!

- after four years in jail, she’s finally released. (due to a ).

- she gets involved in a shimmer business (packing shipments of shimmer). through this business she secretly starts to take some of the shimmer, which over time takes a toll on her body. specifically her leg where she violently injects it when she needs a dose (i headcanon shimmer turning your lips purple when you drink it, so she doesn’t ingest it that way for fear of being caught).

- what she uses to inject it is a homemade needle (if you can call it that). it’s really big so you can take more shimmer in one dose.

- she injects it on her right leg, all over. (thigh, calf, etc).

- by the age of twenty her leg is practically unusable, so she finds a doctor and chops it off. which leaves a small part of her thigh left. (it definitely gets infected and she almost dies LOL). she creates her own prosthetic.

- this prosthetic is different, due to it being able to hold shimmer and slowly deliver doses into her body.

- due to her being on shimmer so heavily for so long, she needs at least some in her system to function (cause she’s an addict duh).

- it slides onto her thigh, and down the leg (past the knee) there’s a tube inside the prosthetic that’s full of shimmer. it goes throughout the leg so it can reach her thigh to deliver the dosage. (if this doesn’t make sense i’ll rework it).

note: the dosage isn’t as much as it used to be, because she’s trying to wane herself off of it for her own health. though, it will probably never happen because of how much she’s consumed. one day, shimmer may completely take her. who knows!

- she ends up being fired from her job due to being caught stealing shimmer, but she still gets it from other sources. (she knows lots of people).

personality:

‘please don’t try to figure out who i am, i don’t want you to do that.’ - a quote that reminded me of her.

ever since her sister left and she was betrayed by people she believed she could trust (when she was thrown under the bus), she’s locked everyone out. hence why no one really knows her. she’s a social person, yes. but not in the sense she loves to talk, in the sense people just know her and ask for her help in return for favors from time to time. ever since she was young she’s enjoyed building. weather that be blocks, or weapons. whilst she was in jail, she had all the time in the world to study and think about the possibilities that lie in her own hands. hence how she was able to make her own prosthetic. she’s usually quite calm but on occasion she can lose her temper. when she still had her leg it was much easier to participate in hand-to-hand combat, but now that she doesn’t she tries to stay away from conflict and keep herself in check. (also makes her own weapons). she’s quite awkward, but she’s observant and really moody.

- afraid of jinx (or any heavy shimmer users) but agrees with the jinxers

looks:

- imagine the eyes of a lemur. that’s what selma’s look like, but her eyes naturally vibrate (the pupils + an affect of the shimmer). her eyes are also a very florescent pink.

- wears pair of boots with mismatched laces.

- almost always in a pair of baggy pants, weather it be jeans or a more parachute pant like. (usually the second option).

- on a hot day though, you’ll find her in a pair of black shorts with many pockets.

- always wearing a belt around her waist, with some tools and small weapons on there.

- her top is a dark, halter neck top with two large buttons near the neck. on the other side (horizontally) resides two straps that the buttons can slide into.

- when needed, she has a sweater that you wear just like a poncho. it’s black with a black button to keep it wrapped around herself.

- her hair is dark and usually up. her sideburns are long and tied into braids, while the rest of her hair is up into two buns atop her head. due to her cutting her own hair, she has a lot of misplaced/very short pieces that stick out. it gives her hair a messier look.
