My ship name is Bagatelle! From bagatelle no. 25 in A minor, aka Für Elise by Ludwig van Beethoven! Why is that? Well, my s/i is named after this piece, and f/o is literally named Ludwig von Koopa. As cheesy as it is I don't think I'll beat my 13 yo self.

Another reason is that bagatelle means something small, unimportant, and both of them kept dismissing their feelings so it won't distract them from their missions. However, denying their feelings actually made everything much harder (like in the song, it's painfully easy at first but then gets a difficulty spike over Beethoven's feelings, just like here)

Headcanon Dump - bagatelle (Ludwig+Elise)

I already did it once back at my ask-kooparadio account, but! Whatever! These are selfshippy!

Ludwig has reading glasses, they're similar to his mentor's (Kammy) in style. Relies more on sounds and vibrations in combat!

Outside of serious settings, he hums a lot

He looks after his claws, being one of few koopa males who has them neat. He even wears jewelry sometimes!

He's fixated on calling the relationship between him and Elizabeth a strategy. Even if married.

He discovered Elise is an age regressor during one of the airship trips, and caught her hiding in the closet with a plushie after a highly dangerous mission.

Their favorite agere activity is literally sleeping. He likes to cradle her in his arms , or snuggle her on his lap (and falling asleep too)

He really likes reading to her, and she enjoys clinging to him when he literally does anything

He calls Elise, well, Elise, but also liebe, liebchen, muse, birdie, songbird, prinzessin, love, darling (outside of formal settings he practically stopped calling her normally - which is something foreign to Ludwig) . He had a german phase as a tween and stuck his habit of using german words, even if he isn't german himself.

Elise in turn calls him Lud (if she wants to annoy him), Luddy (if she REALLY wants annoy him), vati (when age regressed). Surprisingly she's the more hesitant one

Roses are very symbolic to them. Beautiful yet thorny, resembling their relationship that is very dangerous but very dear to them. Color wise it's white (Elizabeth) or dark blue (Ludwig) ones. When they can't be near each other safely, they often have them in some sort of way, referencing them in art, wearing them during political outings or grand balls as jewelry or a literal rose, drawing them in penpal letters, code naming some missions after roses, etc.

They have tons of secretive stuff from each other. Heart lockets, acrostic jewelry, hidden letters in every single thing, you name it.

Ludwig helps Elise with preening her wings, and she helps him with shedding

Ludwig is surprisingly insecure about his birth defect (middle fang), however Elise loves how grounding it feels when he kisses her

Ludwig has a corner in his bedroom dedicated to Elizabeth's visits and the unavoidable jet lag. (Darklands is low , Skyland is very high. The difference gets exhausting when they visit at least once per week).

the canopy dedicated to Elizabeth is slowly piling up with her stuffies. Ludwig sometimes hides in them whenever Iggy has a "great idea" or goes through a migraine..

Why doesn't Ludwig sneak into her castle instead? simple. His adult size is taller than a human, not quite Bowser but still in the seven feet range. Getting all the way from the darklands to skyland is practically impossible without getting noticed by some guards, or even worse, his siblings. It's much easier to sneak a small princess in the koopa kingdom than a koopa to the little sky kingdom

he does show up at her doorstep sometimes, though. Usually pretending it's a "strategy" again while barely hiding a flower bouquet

Both tend to get lonely when they're apart , but thankfully most people assume they're just angsty scholars

They often reference literature and paintings when referring to each other as a safety measure

They both love caffeine, but Ludwig prefers heavy espressos that could ko some humans, and Elizabeth prefers fancy lattes with more foam than coffee

The news

There lived a young princess amongst the vast, azure skies. She loved to play in the clouds, hopping through them, or nestling in them for naps. Her ginger locks would get tangled by the wind, and her tiny white wings would flap aimlessly behind her, as she ran around in the safety of Skylandian castle's gardens.

But there was something off.

You see, princesses her age would play with friends, already make connections that could transcend into adulthood, naturally creating safety nets with age.

But Elizabeth? She was perfectly content with solitude.

Moreover, she despised any social outing. All eyes being on her, the pressure of everyone being hyperfocused on the future empress of Skyland, all of it felt like a chore.

And as much as he loved her, her father, Emperor Edward, couldn't stand it. She's nine, for crying out loud! What if this remained in her teenagehood, adulthood, or even when she takes over the throne?!

He wasn't mad at her, to make things clear. He knows she's a smart, kind child, chattering with maids and guards in the safety of her castle whenever she was away from prying eyes. The emperor just knew how harsh the politics in the Mushroom World are, unforgiving to the subtlest of the oddities. And the princess' silence had been anything but.

He wasn't completely hopeless, however. After much debating with the six kings about their children's future, and even getting the Mushroom Kingdom itself involved, they had made decision that could change everything.

Princess Elizabeth perched on her favorite window sill and kicking her feet, as she always did when it was too late to play outside but still clear enough to watch through the window. She observed the sunset with her favorite plush toy and teacups in both of their hands, as the clouds swirled in pinks and purples, the sun rays sparkling sun kissed face, and the little rabbit's white fur. She clearly had a lot of fun today from the way her dress is dirty, and her hair is completely disheveled.

Emperor Ed had observed her from a distance, struggling to tear his gaze away. It's probably one of, if not the last day he will get to see his daughter so young, so unfiltered, without a care about politics or anything else really. He knew that this conversation would mean everything. Although normally he would've snapped at her lack of manners, for some reason he's silent.

After what felt like hours, he clears his throat, startling the young princess and making her wings jolt up.

“Eliza, please don't keep teacups on the window sill..How many times do I have to..”

Ed sighs internally, his voice being less biting than usual. She lowers her head as if she's apologizing, carefully picking up the tray on the table, careful not to spill or break the porcelain. Her hands are shaking, as if she knew something was wrong, and Emperor Ed hated that she was correct.

“Thank you, little cloud. There's something important that I would like to talk with you about.”

“Yes, father?”

“I've had a talk with the six kings, and somebody special. Do you know who Princess Peach is?”

Elizabeth almost chokes on her tea, like he had just admitted to have a meeting with a deity. Of course she knows who Princess Peach is, everyone in the whole Mushroom Region know her, even beyond! She's the prettiest, the smartest, and has the biggest castle.. She nods her head violently, almost like he's stupid for even implying she doesn't know.

"

“Well, since you and other nobles in the Mushroom Region are growing up, you need to get some guidance..” Emperor starts, almost hesitating.

“..and Princess Peach is willing to take you and some other princesses under her wing.” he watches her blank expression, unsure how to proceed.

But then-

Elizabeth starts giggling, so much so that her wings flap along with an intensity Ed hadn't seen in a long while.

“Really?? The Princess is interested in me?” she chirps, her tiny feet kicking faster.

“Especially you, sweetheart. She”

“Did Princess Penelope also got in? Will I be able to access the library? Oh, how about the gardens-” “Ellie-” “-Do you know if her flowers are just pink, or does she have a whole rainbow of colors?-” “Lizzie-” “Do you think the strategists will let me eavesdrop? Could we get all the snacks I've heard about-” “Elizabeth!” he snaps, gently putting one of his wings over her mouth, before she gets to drown him in questions.

“Yes, our neighbor from Pipeland got in, and I don't know much else to be frank with you. You'll figure it out once you've moved in.”

Her face drops instantly.

“I..move...in...?”

“Yes, you heard me correctly. If you want to get mentored by Princess Peach, you will have to live in a dorm in the Mushroom Kingdom. She said that she would want to teach you as a group, to learn how to work together, and Mushroom Kingdom is the safest place there is.”

Elizabeth visibly droops, staring at the floor. She will have to handle new people, in a new place, away from her dad and her beloved clouds.. But at the same time.. She will get to meet someone she looks up to, not just that, she will get mentored! Maybe they'll even become friends! But still..

“Elizabeth.”

Her head turns vaguely in his direction, still avoiding eye contact.

“I know this is a change to you, and a big one at that. Peach had asked me to just decide this for you, but you're far too smart for such nonsense.” He pets he attempts to comfort her, petting her head. “You're 9 years and two months old, it would be unfair of me to just send you out tomorrow as an order.”

“It's..it's tomorrow..?”

“Yes. We've been discussing about this since june. Most kids would just beam at the mere mention of Peach but you..you're different. I didn't want to throw you in there without a warning”

“I know I'm different..”

“Oh, don't give me that. Not all 'different' is bad, Eliza.. King Mackerel is still gathering himself after he lost that chess match with you, he even admitted it today”

They both snap out of their somberness, chuckling at the faint memory of King of Waterland's face.

“I'm being serious, Eliza. You can either say no, and I'll back out of the arrangement, giving up a free slot for somebody else. Or you can say yes, and we'll spend tomorrow preparing.”

“Please promise that you will visit..” She looks at him with her sky blue eyes, trying to detect if he's lying.

“I promise, Elizabeth.” he's more stern yet still being softer, carefully grabbing her hand.

“Could I bring Hoshiko to the Mushroom Kingdom?” she glances at her beloved white stuffed rabbit, sitting on the other edge of the window sill.

“Of course.”

Then silence. Emperor Ed doesn't push her, letting her analyze through all the prons and cons.

She looks at the window. Then at Hoshiko. Then at her dad.

“I..I will be going. Hoshiko will keep me company, and I think Peach is the best teacher around..”

after that, Emperor wraps his arms and wings around her. She's stiff, but that doesn't bother him in the slightest.

Her small smile is all the reciprocation he will ever need from his daughter.

“It is decided, then.” He says, almost to himself.

It surely is.

Selfshippers that have bad aches and cramps, whether for period, chronic pain, or any other reasons: Your f/o would love to coddle you until they go away or you feel better! They'd draw you a warm bath with epson salt and kneel next to the tub, massaging your back to get all the tension out while you sat in the warm water. Shout out to selfshippers who don't get much attention in the community. It's perfectly ok to feel hurt when other people get asks and art. It's ok to feel sad that other people get their ships called canon and their art reblogged and you don't.

A lot of people say that you shouldn't care about that cause interaction doesn't define your relationship. It doesnt, but being upset about being ignored/less liked doesn't mean you value your relationship any less. You're allowed to want the kind of interaction others get!! You're allowed to want friends and a place in the community!!

Cats. Seemingly aggresive but misunderstood, hiding, but when you actually respect them they'll be all over you. Also he likes anchoovies (istg i saw this on some comic book stripe and not pulling info out of my a-)

Good quills (he tends to break then when he's angry), something handmade, maybe some fancy coffee. He doesn't strike me as a gift receiving type because both s/i and f/o are royalty. He'd be happier with experiences than stuff he can just buy.

Stargazing. Nestling into his chest and listening to his heartbeat as the Skyland's stars surround us both.

He'd never complain, he's a hard worker. But he physically winces each time he turns the vacuum on.

Depends on the amount of sleep and caffeine he had lmao.

No. He is a romantic and stuff but he hates the concept that he never had agency over our relationship. He wants to feel it was our choice, not anybody else's

They'd be scared, for sure. I mean a humanoid meeting with their supposed enemy who is a huge koopa? As for IRL friends, I don't even want to tell them. Both in AU and IRL, I doubt there's many people who would get our bond.

In public he only calls me by my name, but in private he has a whole bunch of pet names. I feel pretty timid about it too.. But trusts me, he always finds a new way to fluster me

Probably working together. He likes seeing me focused, and it makes it easier on both of us. Though we get distracted a lot..

He's persistent. It doesn't fade away after our honeymoon phase, it doesn't waver whenever we argue, When he sees I'm not feeling well and trying to hide away, he doesn't let me. He's attentive, he works on himself, and is the best anchor I couId ever imagine

My eyes. They're piercing and eerie for many, but he loves staring into them, watching the subtle changes even if I struggle with talking. Especially when I struggle with talking.

My kindness. This is something unnatural, especially to the Darklands where everyone is either mean, or pretends to be mean to not get eaten alive. He's often confused how I can be so nice to him even when he messes up, and I hope someday he'll fully be aware that all I need is him, for his personality, and not what he can(not) provide.

He'd draw with ink, and his sketch would be realistic. Probably doing it quickly when I'm not aware

yoohoo! for a while i've wanted to do this silly reblog game, so reblog with one or two f/os of any kind (picture and name) and i will assign them a bath and body works scent! i work there so there's tons of fragrances and aromas i've been able to test myself and i think it would be fun to do just what my job is in a more silly manner!
