Hi! I'm alive

but i'm also still pretty sick, and i have a day job now, so running 2-3 comics in parallel isn't gonna be possible for a while. to be honest, i'm not sure i can handle a regular update schedule for one of them, but if i can i do want to start drawing again. so i'm curious:

KFC or robotchara would likely still be in colored-sketch form, and i might have to ignore asks for a couple updates while i remember what i was doing

CoL would probably have to move to a digital format - still black & white with hatching, but done fully digitally instead of scanning my sketchbook like i had been. (i don't have a good place for working on traditional art right now, and i gave my good scanner to a friend a while ago)

which one i prioritize is likely to change at some point, as i have plans i want to get to for all three (but especially CoL, since i actually have an ending planned for it), but it might be a while before that would happen

@quantumfeat72 I made you a gift, I used my sprite bases and made sprites of… a bunch of your Undertale characters. There may or may not be Mage and Spiderfrisk sprites in progress. I hope you like it and I can fix it if the colours are wrong

Everything going Ok? been a while since you posted

By most definitions of “ok,” yeah, but I don’t know how long it’ll be before I can start posting here again.  I wrote up some stuff over on col a couple months ago and my situation hasn’t changed much since then, but the tl;dr version is that it’s harder to take care of my wrist than it had been, and I don’t trust myself to attempt lineart again until I can update kfc without any pain, which... hasn’t happened in a few months.

So yeah.  I’ll be okay, and things are starting to settle down a bit with school so hopefully I can start doing art consistently soon, but this blog sort of accidentally ended up at the bottom of my priority list because I care about it too much to make sketch updates but not as much as col.  so.  i’ll start updating again when i can but i honestly have no idea what sort of timeframe i’m talking about there

((In the KFC blog rules you said no nsfw innuendo jokes whatsoever, reasoning the ages of the main cast, but here we have a decent amount of "of-age" characters. Would it breaking the rules if we asked mildly nsfw questions here? I'm sure I could think of a few HUMERUS ones when/if this starts up again. Thanks for reading!))

the rules here are slightly different actually! i’ve responded to a few vaguely sexual asks here in the past (usually directed at sans). i might change that later on, but yeah - the biggest issue with kfc is that the youngest character is eight and i Do Not want to write them getting the Talk.  chara and frisk in this comic are 14, they know the basics by now.  explicitly sexual asks are still definitely against the rules though, for reasons i hope are obvious

(though for the record, i hc sans as like, super ace, and while he is aware by now of the baffling number of askers who are horny for him, his response to it has always just been an awkward beat of discomfort before moving on)

(For the mun: I do hope you're feeling better! In the meantime, here's a question I didn't see answered in your About: Do you accept asks from other IC Undertale characters? For example, would another Chara be able to send in questions like any regular asker? And if you do, would there be any characters you wouldn't take asks from?)

((to your question- um, kind of?  the way i think of it is, you can send asks as another character, but they’d be restricted to the same rules as normal askers - the characters won’t have any way of knowing it was from that character unless they actively introduce themself, and even then may not believe they are who they claim to be.  from their perspective the character is just another asker, and there isn’t much they could do to prove otherwise.  especially considering the kids in this world aren’t really aware of the multiverse yet, so “i’m an alternate timeline version of you/your friend/your family” is gonna sound as far-fetched as it would if someone walked up to you on the street and said that irl))

((so like, the short answer is yes?  but they can’t actually enter the world, they can’t prove they are who they claim to be, and they can’t be someone from this world, so that may invalidate a lot of the reason you’d want to do it in the first place, haha...))

ok, quick wrist update - 

so i have thumb tendonitis, and i finally had my first physical therapy appointment a couple days ago!  i’m not sure it’s ever gonna be 100% better, but i’ve got some KT tape on it rn and i’ve learned some stretches that i think are helping (which imo is really good for a first appointment).  i’m not gonna try to put a timeframe on recovery, since my health is so unpredictable in general (and last time i tried to put a timeframe on this injury i was quite wrong) but i’m hopeful!

so- i’m probably gonna be focusing on kfc for a little while longer.  once i’m a little more confident in Drawing Techniques That Don’t Kill My Wrist, i’ll go back to the one page updates over on col and start doing shortish updates on robotchara (hopefully) a little after that.  things are… still gonna be spotty until further notice, but yeah.  just a ping to let y’all know i’m alive and haven’t given up :’)

my annual redraw for 2020!

the second half of last year was really touch-and-go with my wrist crapping out, and it’s probably still gonna be like that for a while, but this has become a serious new years tradition for me - a chance to experiment and show off the progress i’ve made throughout the year

when i drew the first iteration of this image in 2016, it was the first time i’d ever drawn something i didn’t hate.  that was my senior year of high school, possibly the worst year of my entire life, and it gave me hope of something i thought i’d given up on: drawing my own webcomics

i still have a lot to learn, but i’m finally at a place where i’m consistently, genuinely proud of a lot of my art, and idk… that represents something to me.  hope is a major theme of undertale, especially relating to chara, and it’s also the main thing i’ve gotten out of this fandom.  i’m making comics, for real, right now, and i can do that because of this game, and because of this community

and because, in my high school art class sketchbook, i drew a picture of two video game characters and decided my art was good enough

i redraw it every year, because i know it can be better, but i’m still proud of that first drawing
