Well hey there.

Hello, Tumblr.

To be honest I'm not sure what to put here yet, but I'll think of something so long as I keep my fingers moving. I'm a natural windbag after all.

After about six years, I finally found my writing mojo again. I actually discovered I can still write, after those six years of feeling like I couldn't. I even finished and posted a new story! And then I remembered I had a tumblr I could post it to.

But then I started looking around all the places I'd known over the years, all the tumblrpones, and yes, it's true, most of them are closing or closed.

I wonder if this is what it feels like to be late to your own funeral, in a way?

I'm not sure where the cool new place is to be. I'm not big on Facebook, I almost never use Twitter, and while I have a Discord, it's not exactly "my speed" (it moves a bit fast for me). So I find myself here.

Well, I'm not dead yet. Nor is this blog. And my writing is something I intend to cling to. I am a 'slow burn fan.' Basically, my enjoyment of pony and mlp has stuck with me even through my dry spell. I'm certainly not the loudest, most uber-charged fan out there, but I'm pretty sure pone is basically part of my identity now. It just keeps on chugging.

Some might say I'm clinging to the past I suppose? Nobody's said it to me yet, at least. But to me it's the present, even if it's a bit lonely right now.

I figure someone out there is probably lonely too. So if I keep the light on, perhaps we'll be a little less lonely.

There's still a pone out there; he's here. And he's writing pone. To my mind, there's still a lot of 'world' to explore in it. Some people are into Star Trek, some Star Wars, some DnD, some Pathfinder, some puzzles, some... you get the idea.

This is cloud 99. I'll keep the light on for you.

Spewing out congestion's issues, While we double over in its throes.

A People

There once was a fuzzy black spider Who wanted a "people" to be. And so did the fuzzy black spider, Seek to mimic the people he'd see.

He fashioned a web in a corner, A nook in a house he called home. He gathered his meals from the larder, And down in the hallways he'd roam.

But one day he was caught by a people, Who swiftly came back with a broom. They swatted and slammed with the weapon, Chasing him over the room.

"No wait! No wait! I'm a people!" Fright fixed in his permanent stare. "Don't hurt! Don't hurt! I'm a people!" He cried with his legs in the air.

But the people didn't hear, didn't listen. They just smashed and they yelled as he ran. His home and his web lay in tatters, The shreds of his dreams and his plan.

Now in a wall hid in darkness, He sobs in his eight-legged way. No more does the fuzzy black spider, Dream a "people" he'll be one day.

Thank you so much Billy for the ask! I’m still bad at hair. I stopped caring that I was bad at hair about 2 hours in. Also, props! Originally I was going to add in more of the bakery background, but my fingers were hurting after the questionably-misshapen items on the table. Still, it’s practice!

Tumblr Overhaul

So... I got tired of the kind of tacky blog I had set up before, and I’ve redone it. Hopefully this theme is a lot easier on the eyes and easier to read.

Also, I went through all 212 of my posts and made sure they had the tags necessary to be sorted by the tag option, so... yeah. that was an interesting hike through history. I need to decide how I’m going to deal with all the posts I want to move, but don’t want to delete.

Don’t Worry, Be Batty

The ferocious beach bat is a creature to be feared, a powerful yet subtle beast known to hold its captives hostage for hours. Silently he stalks his prey, creeping sof-

“Noc, are you really narrating yourself?”

“What!? You’re spoiling the mood!”

“’Creature to be feared’ my hoo-OOOPGHMGn- Hey! Gedoff!”

“Gonna make me?”

“You’re big, and hot, and fluffy. You are not sweltering-beach attire.”

“What the salt does to your mane is hilarious.”

“You’re a jerk.”

“You’re smiling.”

So, yeah. Have two snoozing (or mostly snoozing) ponies. I tried to go “all out” on this one, and I really, really tried hard for character consistency. This is the same duo as the Drunk Duet - Nocturne Serenade and Tin Bucket.

Hair is hard. Wings with good posture are too. I think I’m figuring out legs a bit more. Umbrellas are amazingly difficult. But overall, while I know this picture isn’t perfect, I’m happy with it.

And “Try Everything” is like magic. When I started this picture, I honestly was in one of those shlumps where I felt like all artistic ability I had magically vanished and that I couldn’t draw anything. It’s still important to keep trying, even when you feel like you’re just floundering.

No, this is not tonight’s update that I spent 2 days on.

I just had to prove to myself I was still capable of drawing something vaguely resembling hair.

I call him Pineapple. May he never escape the place that he lives.

Drawing body contact between characters without having separate layers to work with on the characters is... quite laborious. I have great respect for those who can do so with ease.

However, hopefully tomorrow Tin Bucket and Nocturne Serenade will be making another appearance. With... body contact. Yes. I need beach music.
