Is Summer Over Yet?
Call me crazy, because I probably am, but I want summer to be over! It’s hotter than the pits of hell in my house and no amount of cross breeze or weird cultish circle of fans in helping. I sit around trying to find jobs near where I live while watching Bones and prepping for the upcoming term. I want to be able to go to class and distract myself for a bit. I am excited because I am taking a studio art course and a history of tattoos and body art course. I need to be distracted from how boring my town is and the fact that there are no jobs within decent driving distance of my place. The perks of living in a small mountain town. I have already ordered some of my textbooks for the semester and I am hoping to get them read at least once before the term starts so I will have basic knowledge of some of my more difficult courses. But really I just want fall to be here so I can stop sweating my existence away while laying on the cool tile floor in my kitchen while my dogs cuddles around me making it even hotter. I have attached an actual gif of me leaving my house. So toasty.

Bookish Podcasts up on my new blog!
Book Podcasts I Love
Below is a list of bookish podcasts that I enjoy listening to every day of my book addicted life.
1. All the Books! - A weekly podcast that covers the new releases in the book world for the week. The wonderful hosts cover many different genres of books and talk about how the literary world desperately needs more cats!
2. Bibliophile - A podcast created by my favourite indie bookstore in Edinburgh, Scotland, Golden Hare Books. They cover books that are not as mainstream as most of the other podcasts I listen to. They also cover their book club meetups in the podcast. This is a monthly podcast, well worth a listen.
3. Get Booked - A host and a guest from the literary world answer book recommendations from people’s questions and inquiries that they send into the show. From non-fiction to graphic novels, they cover everything!
4. The Brit Lit Podcast - This podcast covers the releases in the British literary scene, which for an anglophile is something that I enjoy greatly. You will discover books that are only published in the UK or ones that will take a while to come to a bookshop near you.  At the end of most of the episodes, the host gives people book recommendations for the various occasions and people in their lives.
5. Black Chick Lit - A bi-monthly podcast that covers books by and about black women. This is a perfect podcast for people who want to expand their reading list with more people of colour and get extraordinary insight into the books!
6. Books and Boba - Another podcast that will expand your list with more people of colour, this one talks about books written by authors of Asian and pacific islander descent. They cover a huge range of genres and talk about many wonderful books. It is a book club podcast, which makes it amazing to read the book before the episode and listen along as if you were in the book club yourself.
7. What Should I Read Next? - Each week the host, Anne Bogel, talks with her guests about 3 books they love, 1 book they hate, and the books they are reading at the moment, to give them a personalised book recommendation list. It is always wonderful when you hear a guest talk about books you love that they also love and you end up getting a book recommendation as well!
These are only a few of the podcasts that I listen to, but that I highly recommend to everyone who has a few spare moments each day. Great for listening to while commuting to school or work or wherever you seem to be going. You may even find your next favourite book while listening to one! If you have any bookish podcasts that you recommend, leave a comment below with the name of the podcast and the host(s).
Happy reading!

My first review is up on my bookish blog! Head over to A Scandal in Bookhemia for more bookish delights coming soon!
I <3 Darcy.
As an avid lover of all things Austen, I fell in love with the film Austenland when it first came out. To my surprise and delight, I discovered that it was based on a book of the same name. I had read a few reviews stating that the movie was better than the book and I have to disagree. I found the movie hilarious and I watch it quite regularly, the book is filled with so much more than we can see in the film. We cannot see how Jane grapples with her addiction to Austen’s novels and how she struggles with love. We don’t get to hear the stories of her past relationships that ultimately failed one reason or another. Her Austen addiction in the movie is plain for anyone to see when they walk into her apartment, yet in the book, she hides it as if she were ashamed of it, which I think she may be. I find myself watching the movie and thinking to myself “In the book, this would have happened.” Where is the potted plant where she stashes her copy of BBC’s Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth? Where is the portrait gallery in which she finds herself drawn to their gleaming eyes? Where is the airport assistant to blissfully watch on as two men duke it out in the middle of an airport over her?
Austenland by Shannon Hale is a splendidly modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice, with a sprinkle of other Austen novels here and there. Follow along as Jane Hayes works through her Austen addiction using exposure therapy of the worst sort, Regency Era Immersion (A simple Austen Addiction Anonymous group would have done the girl wonders!). Will she finally overcome her addiction? Will she find lasting love with someone who isn’t an actor paid to seduce her? Will her houseplant still be alive when she gets back from her trip? So many pressing questions, all of which can be answered just by picking up a copy of the book! Go little ones! Be free! Read and become addicted to an Austen themed novel and end up in your own Pembrook Park courting as many fine people as you can! (Or save your money and spend it on more books… because that seems like a better idea. Sorry Jane.)
Click Here to get a copy of Austenland.

Back and as bad as ever!
I hardly ever post, mostly due to all the things going on in my life, but for some insane reason, I have decided to start a new blog that covers my love of books and writing reviews for them. Not to mention ranting about literature for hours. I have decided to stick with the Sherlock theme and name it A Scandal in Bookhemia. Go ahead and check it out if you want. Hopefully, I will be less shit about posting on that blog... but we all know how bad I am at posting.

Life: an update
I feel like recently I have only been posting weird updates on my life, or nothing at all. I know I have apologised for it in the past but if we are being completely honest I am absolutely horrible at creating content and posting it! I have been busy with school and life, not that it’s an excuse. I have some of the worst professors I have ever had in my life this semester and it’s not even halfway through. From trying to teach myself french from a textbook with limited audio to a teacher telling me I should drop because I missed a few classes (due to sickness and a family emergency) and because my papers are shit. I spend lots of evenings having wonderful mental breakdowns asking myself why I thought going back to school would be a good idea. I am to going to sit here and say life is dandy, it’s not. My mental health is completely and utterly bleh at the moment and no matter how much I try I just can’t seem to get out of this funk. Luckily we have a break coming up next week and I’m going to spend that break relaxing and trying to get my mental health back on track. Being an adult is hard. I’m just hoping that I can get through this semester alive!

Exciting News!
Hey y’all!
Thought I would come on here and tell you all the exciting news! I HAVE A JOB! And not just any job! I work at a bookstore! I am super excited for the opportunity to work at one of my favourite places on earth! I am also excited because they have a program where you can essentially check-out a book for free and then you have a week to read it and bring it back. This is going to be great for getting through my TBR list! I start on Monday and I can’t wait!
I hope everyone else is having a good week and I am sending out a bunch of positive vibes to the universe! Love you all so much! Expect some possible book reviews in the upcoming months. And lots of book hauls because we all know that I am a bibliophile and will most likely spend all of my paychecks on buying books!

Week... ?
Wow... Hi! So I am absolutely horrible at updates! So it is currently week 9 of classes, which means that I have been gone for several weeks without updating you guys on anything. SOOOOOO let's do this!
Over the past couple of weeks, I have been extremely busy reading and analysing various texts and articles, trying to finish my reading challenge on Good Reads, taking my various animals to vet appointments, getting myself through mono, and helping my best friend move apartments! Lots and lots and lots of things! I unfortunately still have mono, so I feel like crap and I take several naps a day (if I can) while also trying to make sure that I understand everything that I am reading for school. I cannot even tell you how many times I have had to read some of these articles because feverish me apparently doesn't understand basic English. As I said, I was trying to finish my reading challenge, which I did, but it has been so hard for me to find time to read books for pleasure recently. I have so many great books on my TBR list that I have been meaning to read but I just don't have the time nor the energy for it. What usually takes me only a couple of hours to read has taken me sometimes as long as a week!!!! It sucks! Other than that I applied for a job at a bookstore, which I will most likely spend all of my paychecks, but its fine!
There is still no news about Kevin, the kid that went missing here in my small town. It is so heartbreaking thinking what his family must be going through. It has been very cold here and has snowed a couple of times and yet I still want to have hope that they will at least find his remains (if he is up there) so that his family will have some sort of closure. Please people, if you are going hiking, tell people where you are going and if possible take someone else with you!
On a side note, there have been several suicides at local high schools near my house and I just wanted to reach out and tell you guys that if you ever need anyone to talk to or vent to or anything, you can message me and we can talk or send memes to each other or whatever you need! I am here for you guys and I just want you to know that I love each and every one of you!
Seriously though IF YOU NEED ME, I GOT YOU FAM!
Hopefully, I can get back to updating you guys on the reg. Or however cool kids say regular basis nowadays, seeing as I am a million years old! Haha. And remember, your life is worth living!

20/20 Ask Game
I would like to say a huge thank you to Eden aka @imsmartiswear for tagging me in this! Love you fam!
The Rules: Answer 20 Questions then tag 20 people you would like to get to know better.
Name: Hanah (though I sometimes switch up the spelling to Hanna)
Nickname: Hanah Banana has been my nickname since the day I was born. And coincidentally, I love bananas.
Zodiac Sign: Scorpio, which pretty much means I’m insane and bitchy... which is very accurate.....
Height: 5′8″ just tall enough to make people uncomfortable with my height and also to make it impossible to wear pants unless they are longer in size because otherwise, I look like I am always wearing above ankle pants! And don’t even get me started on dresses! Everything looks like a longish shirt!
Languages Spoken: English. Though I occasionally sing along to songs in Spanish, Korean, Italian, French, and Romanian. My knowledge of those languages is limited to the songs that I know. I am also fluent in a language I like to call messed up English, in which my brain works to quickly for my mouth and I end up creating new words by mashing a bunch together and then staring into the distance with a quizzical look on my face. Very difficult language to understand, even for the speaker.
Nationality: American.....
Favorite Fruit: Kiwi. A million percent kiwi!
Favorite Season: Fall, though not a huge fan of the pumpkin spice craze. We get it! You can make anything pumpkin spice! But please, for the sake of humanity, stop turning cleaning products into scented pumpkin spice chasers for the kids doing the tide pod challenge still. There is enough damage already.
Favorite Scent: Lavender, but not fake chemically lavender. I am talking real lavender! Or rosemary.... so pretty much herbs.
Favorite Color: Blue, the color of the ocean, my eyes, and my Hogwarts house!
Favorite Animal: Narwhals! They are majestic and wonderful and so pretty and I just want to save all the narwhals in the world from people taking their horns! SAVE THE NARWHALS!!!!!!!
Coffee, Tea or Hot Chocolate: Tea. Always tea. It doesn’t matter what kind of tea, I will most likely drink it. Though I have found that I am more of a fan of herbal blends than fruity ones.
Average Hours of Sleep: Hahahaha! What is sleep? No seriously... what is it? My body doesn’t seem to understand this concept. (As you can tell, I don’t get a lot of sleep. Thanks brain!)
Favorite Fictional Character: NO! Don’t make me choose!!!!!! There are so many wonderful characters out there! I cannot physically pick one and if I tried listing all my favs then it would be a post so long we would all wither away into nothingness before we were anywhere close to finishing it!
Dream Trip: I want to go back to Scotland, this time to see Orkney and maybe visit Iona and some islands in the Outer Hebrides. I have been to Scotland twice and I love it so much there that I hope to one day live in Scotland. Also there are so many cute little bookshops and trinket shops over there! Not to mention the Red Door Gallery in Edinburgh that has some of the most wonderful art for sale! I won’t even tell you how much money I spent buying art in that shop, though I do have enough art to cover every wall in my house!
Blog Created: Way back when dinosaurs roamed the earth!
Favorite Subject: At the moment I am taking only a few courses, though I loving my ethnic studies and anthropology courses! Math, not so much.
Hogwarts House: R-A-V-E-N-C-L-A-W! Ravenclaw, witches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (See what I did there? Do ya? *insert really weird hehe sort of giggle*)
Favorite Artists: Music wise: Frightened Rabbit, Sir Sly, Billie Eilish, Alt-J, AURORA, and the Marias to name a few. Art wise: van Gogh, Monet, Heikala, David Fleck, Keely Elle, Mab Graves, Lana Jay, and literally everyone that makes art because you are all so talented and I love you and keep making stuff you beautiful art babies!
I would like to tag these wonderful people:
@study-at-the-disco @obsidianstudy @usuallysaltypeach @castillos-co @karlee-fay-my-wayward-son @acadehmic @bookmrk @celines-studyblr @elainestudy @foldedpaperback @georgestudies @gottasleepgottastudy @katsdesk @kaffee-und-weltschmerz @triestobeorganized @hufflepuffwannabe @rhubarbstudies @merakinotes @lycheestudy @warrioreads
P.S. I would like to state for the record that while I was typing this I accidentally spilt my mandarin oranges all over my pillow and now it smells really good but its also very wet and its my only pillow so I am kind of sad and now I am ranting in the postscript about me being an idiot!

Week Three Update
As I am sitting here in my living room, waiting for my course articles and completed assignments to print I think about all that has gone on in the last week Schoolwork has gone great, I still have all A’s (which is surprising and amazing), my best friend got a new kitten and I got to help name her (Wednesday, after Wednesday Addams). But there has been something pretty terrible that happened this week. So for those of you who don’t know this, I live in a ridiculously small town right on the base of the mountains in Colorado. Last weekend, Kevin Rudnicki, a college kid who lives in my town, went out for a hike and never returned home. It will be a week on Sunday that he has been missing and there is no trace of him anywhere on the mountain. Search and Rescue has been out there with helicopters, drones and nearly a hundred volunteers. This comes just a year after a mountain biker named Tim Watkins went missing and was found days later buried in a shallow grave with signs of being shot. Kevin has been hiking those trails since he was little so it is unlikely that he got lost. It is heartbreaking that such a young kid, with an amazing future in the Forest Service, has disappeared almost without a trace. I hope that they find Kevin soon and that he is okay. If you live near the Palmer Lake/Monument area and you see anything suspicious or you have seen Kevin (last seen wearing a green shirt, khaki cargo shorts, a Wyoming baseball cap, tan military boots, and a backpack. He has red curly hair, stands 5′ 9″)  please call the Sheriff’s Office at 719-390-5555.
Help bring Kevin home!

Second Week Update!
Week three is officially starting tomorrow (since today was technically a holiday) and I am both excited and slightly nervous. This upcoming week is going to be pretty busy but I also have an exam in math, which I am struggling with a bit, and I am sort of freaking out about it. But we came to talk about my second week, not dread the future (which will probably turn out just fine).
So week two is officially over and I am loving my classes. All of my professors are really nice and they are super supportive of all of us, which is amazing since at my last university it wasn’t always that way. I am taking three classes this semester: Math for Liberal Arts, Introduction to Ethnic Studies, and Cultural Diversity in the Modern World. My professors for Ethnic Studies and Cultural Diversity are probably my favourites so far, not saying my math professor isn’t great but we have been doing lots of weird “get to know you” exercises and it’s starting to get a little weird. In week three we are supposed to write a poem using math terms, but it can’t be about math. Let’s just say that mine is very dark... and will probably scare a couple of my classmates away from befriending me.
We do a lot of discussions about different topics in both Ethnic Studies and Cultural Diversity, which usually calls for a couple of sentences on the topic of the week and blah blah blah... but me being me, I usually type out a whole Encyclopedia Britania length response and then comment on everyone’s posts. I just have a lot of passion and ideas and sometimes that leads to me ranting about something for a couple of hours (this weeks topic was food and I had a lot to say about it, cause I love me some food!). My professors seem to really enjoy reading my responses to the discussion questions and to articles we read for class. It’s nice when your professor actually takes time out to say, “Hey. This was great. I loved the part when...,” instead of just giving you a star or a smiley face or just not writing anything at all and only putting a grade!
Speaking of grades, the first week's grades went up at the beginning of this week and I was “shooketh”, as they would say. I don’t actually know anyone else that says that... so it's just me. BUT... grades went up and I have, drumroll please... 100% in all of my classes! A couple of grades from this week have also been entered but I am so excited that I have such good grades in my classes. To be completely honest, I would be happy with anything really, but to be doing so well right off the bat is amazing. I am hoping to keep up with doing well in my classes, even if that means getting a couple of lower grades here and there. But I want to make sure that I don’t fall into the pit of depression again. My mental health is more important than getting all A’s.
Also this week, Barnes and Noble had its first ever Book Haul Blowout Sale, and you know I couldn’t help myself! I ended up buying ten books there and two more at Target. I hope to get in a little bit of personal reading this week since I have been focusing heavily on reading for my classes. Remember to take some time for yourself every now and then otherwise your mental and physical health can get worse!
How is everyone else's week going so far? Has anyone else started school? What classes are you taking? Who are your favourite teachers/professors?
Sending lots of good study vibes out to my fellow studyblrs and anyone else who is in school right now! Hope to hear from you guys in the comments!
