Thinking about plaid in stranger things being related to innocence which Will wears a lot of especially in season 5.

Will wears it underneath his jumper and is a protective layer underneath which I believe essentially is keeping him warm but also sheltered in his innocence.

I’m thinking of a hypothetical lovers lake scene where he sheds that layer last before he decides to jump into the boat beside the lake.

Mike is there to confront him where he just looks at him and says.

“I’m done Mike, done being a scared little boy confined to being only known as Zombie boy, I’m done running away from everything from my dad, from the bullies at school, from vecna and… you. I’m gonna protect you Mike I swear it”.

Will jumps into the boat but Mike pulls on his left hand.

Mike - “I’m coming with, if you’re protecting me than I’ll protect you, remember we’re a team, friends”.

Will - “best friends”

Mike- “lov…”

Mike cuts himself off but

Will- “ers”

Will finishes that sentence

Tender emotional music is playing.

Edit - I think the reason Will is going to the lake specifically because it has some ties relevant to getting into Vecna’s head.

Water - vulnerability, not just for Byler but also finding out Vecna’s - it could be why he’s closing his eyes in that one shot. He’s trying to be the spy - spying on the shadow monster.

Thinking about the miwi flashback and Mike being so excited to show Will his favourite dinosaur Rory and Will is too because he’s showing him his one and only tonka truck and they’re all adorable and they go and play at the playground with Jonathan

Something something Will Byers sees two versions of Hawkins in his mind. The safe version - conformity and the scary version -openness and truth. Hawkins and the Upside down

In the newest comic which focuses on Mr. Clarke we have these panels which showcase a pair of 3d glasses.

Two lenses, both are different and both have a purpose when put together.

Essentially this can be viewed as an allegory for Will’s arc and sense on self, something which will be explored in s5 with his trauma, sexuality and his growth into becoming the man he’s meant to see himself as and to be. To be comfortable with all of him and to shine.

With this the blue would obviously be Hawkins and the red the upside down

I tried looking into any relative interpretations or descriptions on the way these glasses work and

Now I don’t know what this means yet but I’m gonna look into it but it makes me think of byler

I will also discuss this panel which definitely adds substance to this with the depiction of mind and imagination and how they work together.

Think of Will - he has been bullied and ridiculed by Lonnie, kids at school and who knows who else. He’s a young boy with a vivid imagination who draws rainbow ships and is charismatic and sensitive. He’s not a stereotypical boy, he’s growing up in the 80’s in the small town of Hawkins. He’s scared but he has his friends, his mum and Jonathan everything is fine….

Until it isn’t

When he realises subtly that he is different

Subconsciously perhaps, under the surface

That Life isn’t a game of DnD where he can spend forever in Mike Wheeler’s basement playing a 14 hour plus campaign where it’s acceptable to authentically be themselves without societal repercussions or consequence.

When he’s been conditioned into believing that he isn’t allowed to love like other boys. He can’t sneak glances at his best friend like the ones that have crushes on girls like Jennifer Hayes or Max Mayfield.

I have two cameos from Joe crest who plays Ted idk if you guys would be interested but I thought they were pretty cool.

I asked him what he thinks Ted would think of Mike’s friends and if he’d have a favourite.

My friend also wanted to know what Ted and the wheeler family would get up to on a family holiday and how he would attempt to bond with his kids

Thinking about Holly, Will and Mike playing dnd together.

Mike - introduces her to the world building and helps with her class and her characters backstory and specifics.

Will - draws up and designs her character implementing Holly’s likeness and personality in the designs.

He draws up a design of the necklace she will wear with the little dnd figure on it with her collaboration.

Holly and Will make the necklace together while Mike looks tenderly at the both of them bonding.

Later Holly requests Will to wear the Will the wise costume but it doesn’t fit him so she asks him if she can wear it.

Mike is hesitant because it’s such a significant thing to the development of their relationship. Also not relevant - but he thinks Will looks cute in it. He lets her though.

Holly wears the Will the Wise cloak and hat. She then places the hat on Will’s head and Mike gets all theatrical as he often does and formally presents Holly into their party

Making a very special memory for the trio.
