For Mina, the hunt was the thrill for her. The research, the puzzle-solving, combining new information with what she already knew to solve the puzzle and defeat the monster. She was not so keen on the kill, but she was very much prepared to do so, should the need arise. She was also prepared to die, rather than become a monster, herself.

The woods were thin and relatively new. Plenty of sky could be seen between the canopies, and the trunks of the trees did not completely envelop the sound of the city, though it seemed distant enough that Mina would call herself alone here.

Or, not alone, because there was a creature, once frozen entirely, wandering around out here with her. The very thought made her rest her hand on the pistol in her pocket, the one her husband requested she keep with her whenever she was alone. For a moment, she nearly called out, then stopped herself. But why?

She wished she had seen the being trapped in the ice. Perhaps she would have garnered some sense of whether it truly was a monster, or mere a misunderstood man.

A shuffling of leaves caught her attention, and she paused, looking in the direction from which it came. It could merely be an animal, or it could be that which she was tracking.

Carefully, she honed her senses, allowing that sixth sense which helped her detect those with evil intent to listen far more keenly than her own ears could.

Finally, she broke the silence.

"Hello?" she called out carefully. "Is someone there? My name is Mina Harker, and I will not harm you if you do not mean to harm me."

The Creature sat for some time, leaning heavily against the thick truck of a tree, breathing deep of the night air and willing rumbling thunder of his heartbeat to calm. No small feat, given it had spent a century now without so much as a murmur.

The tranquility of the woods helped to ease his whirling mind. Soon, he began to regain some understanding of the senses so abruptly restored to him. He recognized colors, shadows, he recalled the song of birds and the feeling of grass and soil beneath his hands. He took in the scent of wild flowers, and the smell helped to soothe him.

At last, the Creature was completely calm and aware, in control of himself. At last, he began to remember. A chase across the frozen sea... A ship. His creator was now dead... And yet he was not. He recalled the bitter cold, the blackness overtaking his vision, and then a blissfully dreamless sleep. And then...

Screaming. Shouts, words like 'monster' and 'demon,' words all too familiar to him. Why did he live? Why had he been returned to the world of men?

In time, he heard the crunch of leaves beneath feet, the sound approaching his direction. Holding his breath, the creature hid himself fully behind the tree.

Jonathan Harker needed to travel to France for business, but ever since their mutual ordeal, Mina found herself loathe to let him leave England's borders without her. Fortunately, her dear husband was of equal mind, and was more than glad to bring his wife with him on his business trips.

Besides, it was Paris! How lavish and romantic!

Still while Jonathan was busy with his business during the day, Mina was left to her own devices. She went to museums, studied the art being painted along the riverbanks, went to the shops, and even took in the smaller sights. There was a freak show advertising some kind of monstrous man frozen in ice, and Mina could not help her morbid curiosity. Ever since the events with Dracula and her brush with becoming a monster, herself, something had changed within her. It never seemed to be a problem, but her heart was now steeled against the supernatural menaces she knew for a fact were real, and that lead her to be drawn almost unnervingly to seek them out. Any who chose to pray upon the innocent needed to be stopped.

When she arrived at the tent, the area was shockingly empty, but held the tension that it had been utterly full not long ago. That was one of the things that had changed. She was able to sense things she had not before; charged emotions, malicious intent, dare she even say evil itself.

As she approached the tent, some burly men stopped her and directed her away. The show was cancelled, there were no patrons here, leave now. Frowning, Mina walked away, but not far, and though careful concealment and eavesdropping, she learned that the frozen creature had come to life and escaped.

A monster on the loose!

Immediately, her heart began to pound, not with fear, but with determination. She would not let this creature escape without repercussion. Leaving her hiding place, she circled around the tent until she found footprints far larger than a normal man's, and followed those away from the clearing where the tent was pitched and into the nearby woods.

"It's alive!"

None had expected, when they entered the sideshow tent, to actually come face to face with a monster. Even those who had willingly paid for admission didn't really believe what the barker had announced about the attraction within. The 'frozen giant.' The 'golem of the frozen north.' Supposedly found in the arctic sea, frozen solid and carried away back to England. At best, most had expected the thing to be a wax statue, though they enjoyed the harmless thrill of pretending they were about to see a true monster.

But the monster was all too real. And, most shocking of all... it was not dead. The journey to England, the weeks on the road carried about by this traveling show, slowly but surely the enormous body had been thawing out. Until, one night, it opened its eyes.

Crowds poured screaming from the tent as the figure rose to its full, terrifying height, as it lumbered towards them, snarling and growling. None could have noticed, in their terror, that the Creature could not have chased them even if he tried. He stumbled on limbs still stiff and weak, unused to movement after almost a century's sleep. He didn't snarl in anger but in fear and confusion. His brain, long dormant and blessedly at peace, was wakened once more to bright light, to deafening noise and a thousand sensations he could yet barely remember.

As all the carnival hands and patrons scattered away in their own fear, the Creature retreated away from the screaming crowds. Away from the bright light of torches and gas lamps, away into the woods, before finally collapsing to catch his breath for the first time in a century.

"Well, that ain't very neighborly of them," Clay frowned gently, continuing to pet the purring cat. "Ain't nothin' wrong with a disabled critter. Ain't nothin' wrong with a black cat, neither. Do they still have that superstition here? About black cats bein' unlucky?"

If it weren't for that Melvin read frequently, there would've been a look of confusion, instead an amused chuckle leaves him.

The Felis catus in question, immediately closes that one eye, a content purr leaving the creature that doesn't even fight being held. For once. “Yeah, he's a cute thing, rare he comes out like this. I think most are leery of 'im havin' one eye most of the time.”

Ah, yes. That expression. Flynn was all-too familiar with it, because he wore it all the time, and had since he was ten years old. Link couldn't be much older than that. But if he didn't want to share, Flynn wasn't about to pry. That was on him.

"Nice poetry," he responded lightly. Honestly, he didn't care much for it, but he could be extremely poetic when the situation called for it. And really, he was too tired for this. "G'night, kid."

All this over a nifty trinket that he wasn't even being allowed to keep. What was even the point of being here, then? Flynn wanted to go home, or at least back to a world he recognized, since he didn't really have a home, per say.

Settling back down in the hay, he turned his own back to Link's, showing that he was good and ready to end the conversation and let sleep claim him.

There's just a cold, blank stare as Flynn starts trying to comfort. Platitudes of ignorance, and misjudgings because of it. a blink, and then a laugh. a short, hollow laugh. Link is smiling, but the expression is a mask. His eyes just don't match in how weary and old they seem. "You sound so much like her."

He doesn't elaborate on that, instead simply flopping back and rolling over, His back to Flynn now. In a calmer tone, more natural, genuine, some words that are clearly not his own be taken to heart from another are offered as a... sort of agreement to Flynn.

"The flow of time is always cruel. its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it. A thing that does not change with time is a memory of younger days..." Shoulders lift with a silent inhale, and deflate in a soft sigh. "Time passes, people move, like a river's flow, it never ends." Something is pulled out of his pouch out of sight, and being held close to his chest as Link mutters the last line. "It never ends."

Do you think Eugene Is a heavy sleeper or light? Which one you think it is and out of 10 how much would you rate it?

We know he's a decent sleeper.

He can use a rock as a pillow and sleep soundly. But it doesn't take much to wake him. Rapunzel saying his name, a little water dripping on him. He didn't hear Rapunzel or Maximus approach, though.

Honestly, I headcanon that he's a deeper sleeper by the time of the series than he was in the movie. After all, a thief who was always on the run couldn't afford to let his guard down. He can, however, sleep just about anywhere, like a cat. He's probably the king of power naps.

How refreshing, to find someone who understood! "I entirely agree!" she said brightly. "Now, granted, sometimes monsters prove to be just that, and those ones simply must be dealt with, but if there is a shred of humanity in them, a desire to not wreak evil, then they ought to be heard out, don't you think?"

Directly after her ordeal, Mina had briefly seen the world in black and white, in terms of evil and good. But it hadn't taken long for her own humanity to come back in, nor her compassionate nature. Not all monsters were evil, after all. In fact, not all monsters were monsters.
