I finally completed the Devil card. This bad boy had me stuck-stuck for a LONG time. I have some real interesting stories behind creating it - dreams and all. . . I started this particular card after completing Justice, but got tangled up trying to articulate my idea and decided to work on something else and come back to it. . . Took me a while, but I pushed through and got it done. The plan was to get super raunchy with this one but my hubby talked me down. In this case, it worked out better. Let's all breathe a collective sigh of relief....whew...the Hermit is now complete. . . This one took me a bit longer than I expected but it was SO worth it. My favorite part about making this piece were the flowers. It took me back to a time when finger painting was my medium of choice. This card right here...when the idea popped into my mind - as so many ideas do, I got super excited. Matter of fact, I debated between doing this card 1st or the Fool. Traditionally, The Lovers card expresses the duality of Masculine and Feminine. When we pull it in a reading there's this association with joy - "yes girl, he's the one, go get yo man!" -and similar such reactions. Without spilling too much tea on my thought process - I wanted to explore the duality of the mundane and higher selves with this one. I'll explain in greater detail in the guidebook(s).
