I had a lot of teens (who are now adults) depend on me as a stable adult figure. All well and good, and I was far from minding it, but it was difficult for me to have them ask me "mind if i vape real quick?"

Because now I have a dilemma. Obviously I don't approve of this behavior, but it's the type of situation where my trust with them could be damaged really badly. Because "I trusted you with this and your opinion hurts me" Is a real threat here.

So I have to tell them "I won't stop your vices, but I will ask that you keep it away from me. I don't like vapes. Make sure you don't depend on these things, ok?"

And PRAY that they get the subtext.

I hate these were invented. Whoever made them had no good intent and I hope the guilt one day hits them like a train

It’s so infuriating that teen smoking rates were at an all time low in the US and we were on track to basically eradicate smoking and nicotine addiction in teens like it was flat out uncool to smoke and then They came out with nicotine injector flash drives that light up and taste like cotton candy. And have lead in them.

Phoenix and Ollie don’t argue very often but i think this could get them going. there is no more bitter disappointment than thinking you’re getting ice cream and being met with uncooked seafood instead

My father shot me with a BB gun with intent to hurt at 13

It was in retaliation to me playing with cap guns- the kind that make a bang and poof smoke, and was pretending to fire at him after coming off the high of a paintball game. He told me to knock it off or he'd get the BB and shoot me. I told him he wouldn't. Next thing I know there's a gun, a pop, a sting, and a welt on my hipbone. He tells me he didn't do anything wrong because otherwise I would've "disrespected" him as a regular thing. This is the man who slapped me twice in my life.
