@darkflyers sent: ❛ Sometimes human places create inhuman monsters. ❜
Somehow, whether intentional or not, it seems they've perfectly described Nohr as a whole. As the lesser of two princes, Leo is still expected to love his country, but it's impossible to ignore the filth that likes to walk around and call itself human. Iago and Hans are perfect examples, though he'd never say that out loud. Such a festering pool of instability and questionable morals has no right to thrive as a country much less be referred to as a place for humans to live, yet there he is among its royal family as if such things don't bother him. Rather hypocritical, isn’t he?
" Indeed they do. Such deceitful ' human places ' might as well be another breed of monster entirely, wouldn't you agree? "

what is your soulmate like?
a stolen chance, a missed opportunity
sad, isn’t it? i heard ( mind you, this was at a very shady tarot card reading place i went to for fun ) that there’s a good chance that most people have met their soulmate, but they missed them. maybe they loved someone else. maybe they left your life. i hope that even though you’ve missed them, you find closure, and you find someone else who loves as hard as you do.
#( dash games. )#oh....oh this is depressing#accurate but depressing#i dare say this hurts my feelings op!!!!

spiteful lyrics from various songs
note: there's a lot of swearing in here, i'm so sorry
"you've been running from yourself for way too long."
"give me any reason not to cut you out."
"how do you even sleep at night?"
"i don't need your god damn money, i don't need jack shit from you."
"we're as fucked as any church."
"if you could only be what you pretend you are."
"stop, what the hell are you talking about?"
"i'm not your friend or anything, damn."
"you made me hate the things i love."
"i'm reminded every day that i will never be happy."
"please, won't you push me for the last time?"
"the thought of you is no fucking fun."
"so go ahead, just drop dead."
"you can't cheat death when you're digging your own grave."
"you are a walking, talking, corpse at best."
"look at this godforsaken mess that you made me."
"you showed me colors you know i can't see with anyone else."
"you know damn well that for you, i would ruin myself a million little times."
"watch me take a good thing and fuck it all up in one night."
"i think something's fucking wrong with me."
"i'm up all week wasting time with people i don't like."
"what do you wanna receive for fucking it up all the time? a fucking statue?"
"listen carefully, i know it's hard for you."
"first off, fuck you and what you represent."
"you say you're doing fine, but no one asked and nobody cares."
"you oughta just stay quiet, but you can't do that, can you?"
"give it time we'll all forget your face."

@youngmenace sent: “Am I not what you expected?” this is funny because navi is like 4'11"
“ Obviously not. I was hoping for someone taller. ” And no, he doesn’t particularly care that his apparent bride-to-be may take offense to that. Or, who knows, maybe she won’t be offended in the slightest, because if there’s one constant about this, it’s the uncertainty of a marriage in the first place. Luckily, most of his displeasure in this situation is hidden, though that doesn’t mean crueler words aren’t waiting just beneath his calm exterior. If she has any sense at all, she’ll be just as unhappy about this as he is, and that alone should be enough of a reason for him to control himself. Hopefully, neither of them are getting any joy out of this.
Aside from his personal feelings, there is a reason this is happening. No matter how much he may protest, his position as prince has always demanded that he be wed to one of the most eligible women. His duty comes before his own feelings, and since he has always shoved his feelings down in favor of literally anything else, why is it now that he wants to change that? Why only now does he believe things should be different?
“ Unfortunately, I doubt there is any way to fix your height problem, so if that is something I must deal with, then so be it. ...I can’t imagine you are any fonder of your vertical challenges, anyway. ”

✧・゚: *✧・゚* ARRANGED MARRIAGE SENTENCE STARTERS
A small collection of starters connected to arranged marriages. Feel free to adapt them as needed!
“You are… very different of what I had expected.”
“I will run away before I ever marry the likes of you.”
“I know you hold no love for me, that we don’t even know each other in truth, and perhaps we will never come to love each other, but we can at least be friends.”
“Love can be built, too. And if you’re willing, I would like to try and learn to love you.”
“You are lovely. Even more beautiful than I was told.”
“What I heard of you before makes you no justice.”
“I must say I never expected to be wed to someone as stunning as you.”
“It is an odd thing, to be wed to someone you never met, to have a complete stranger suddenly become such a great part of your life.”
“I can’t marry him/her/them. I’m in love with another.”
“Please do not make me wed him/her/them!”
“Do not touch me.”
“I do not care what you want, we did not marry for love.”
“You’re mine now, and you will act suitably.”
“Who you loved before does not matter any longer. You are mine now, only mine.”
“Perhaps we should try to know each other better? We can start simple… do you like music?”
“We are only marrying because I need an heir.”
“You love someone else, so do I. Why don’t we make an agreement?”
“I will never love you.”
“Am I not what you expected?”
“I may not be as good looking as you hoped, but I shall never treat you unkindly.”
“You are to be my wife/husband, I want to help you feel more at home here. It shall be your home soon, after all.”
“There are talks of betrothal, even if they haven’t yet told me. I know they plan to wed me off to someone soon.”
“They want to marry me to him/her/them, but I don’t want that. I want you.”
“No need for this pretense. I know all your interest is my claim, not I.”
“I am to leave home and everything I have ever known to wed someone I have never met. It isn’t fair.”
“I marry you because I must. It is my duty to seal this alliance.”
“I will fulfill my duty, but I hold no love for you or your family.”
“We were wed as strangers, it’s true, but we needn’t continue being so.”
“Our marriage doesn’t have to be loveless just because it began as duty.”
“Do you believe in love at first sight? I feel like I have known and loved you for thousands of lives, even if we only met.”
“You will do as you are told and marry who we have picked for you.”
“You’ve been raised your entire life knowing this day would come. Do not begin to entertain illusions of marrying for love now.”
“I will never let them ship you off to a stranger as I was.”
“You are my child, and you will not be sold off to anyone like that. I won’t let them trade you for their alliance.”
“I wish I could undo it, child, but I cannot. This arrangement was made years ago.”
“We have been promised to each other for years, yet I could never meet him/her/them.”
“How odd that we were promised to each other for so long and only met on our wedding day.”
“What of it? It isn’t like I haven’t known for years that my fate would be to wed some stranger my family deemed suitable.”
“How can you be so calm about this? They are deciding who you spend your life with, and you won’t have any say on it!”
“Through them, we will finally join our bloodlines.”
“He/She is marrying my claim, not me.”
“Only princes/princesses and kings/queens are worthy of you. You will not be wed to someone lesser.”

AND ANOTHER THING, that part in his roster? The thing where he is "said to like tomatoes the most out of everyone in the army"? That's very true, but not in a meme way. He just has iron deficiency, and his body decided that tomatoes helped curb the worst of that just enough while also being a taste he can tolerate. It's less about him liking to eat them the most and more about him eating a lot of them purely because his other options for fixing iron deficiency just taste worse. Tomatoes actually have fairly low levels of iron anyway, but it's basically his only option and he'll take what he can get. 🤷♂️

And for another smaller headcanon: I personally like to think Leo's apparent inability to dress himself is just the result of very noticeable sleep inertia. As he transfers from often restless sleep to being awake, he has temporarily impaired cognition and hindered sensory-motor performance which ends in him getting his collar turned inside out or, in extreme and equally hilarious situations, carrying around random objects instead of things he actually needs, like his spellbook. During this period of confusion, his reaction time is slowed and his knowledge of pathways he has memorized becomes jumbled or blurry. Luckily, this tends to pass after about 20 to 30 minutes, though things he can't see, aka his reversed collar, tend to go unnoticed since it's "out of sight, out of mind" at that point.

lol remember when i said i'd go in depth on his skills, guess who did that <3
Before canon events, Leo comes equipped with several skills from the moment he appears, but because of my personal headcanons, I'm gonna add onto that! The list of classes Leo's gone through, from first to last, are as follows: Cavalier / Paladin, Dark Mage, Troubadour / Strategist, and finally Dark Knight. The skills he picked up from those classes are then Defender, Heartseeker, Malefic Aura, his personal skill, Pragmatic, then Resistance +2, and finally Lifetaker. While some skills are less noticable than others, all of them played a huge part in giving him the necessary skills to be an excellent Dark Knight, because I know there is absolutely no way ANYONE is going straight from being an infantry magic user to a mounted one without proper training on horseback no matter what this series tries to say, so!! An in depth explanation is under the cut because I didn’t realize how long it got, whoops-
He started off on the Cavalier / Paladin path simply so he could learn how to navigate and fight on horseback to begin with. This also eventually gave him access to Defender, which is less of a skill, and more of his personal mindset of "I now have a person to protect, I need to be better so I can keep them safe", which gives off the impression of boosting all his stats by one. This is also where he first learned to use the sword and where he realized he'd never compare to Xander, so he switched his focus pretty quickly.
From there, he picked up both the skills a Dark Mage can learn, Heartseeker and Malefic Aura. However, they work a little bit differently for him than other mages. For him, Heartseeker's effect of lowering the enemy's Avoid by 20 and Malefic Aura's effect of enemies taking more damage from magical based attacks are both directly influenced by Brynhildr and what it can do. The tome can manipulate gravity, so he can easily minimize an enemy's movement with that alone. Malefic Aura also uses the tome's effects, but instead of being affected by gravity, foes are affected by the tome's ability to manipulate life itself. This applies to ALL enemies within a short range, so whiles Brynhildr hurts to get hit by, not only will the initial impact hurt, but touching it will give a kind of "splash" effect, hence the extra damage dealt.
His personal skill, Pragmatic, is also less of a skill and more based on his tendency to strike without hesitation. When he sees an opportunity to defeat an enemy, he will strike as hard as he can, all while powering through whatever damage he's dealt with pure adrenaline, hence the whole "+3 damage dealt, -1 damage received". It's not that he's actually taking any less damage, the full effect of his injuries just doesn't kick in until later.
After that excelling as a mage, he then became a Troubadour and then a Strategist. Aside from learning enough about staves to push him along, he didn't pick up any particularly interesting skills aside from Resistance +2, which is just...a better tolerance to magic attacks, really. However, as a Strategist, he further honed his ability to fight on horseback thanks to his earlier time as a mounted fighter.
Finally, once he mastered magic and how to use it on horseback, he finally went down the path of a Dark Knight and learned Lifetaker which, as explained here, helped to combat the effects of Brynhildr and give him the boosts he needs to get through battle.
BONUS: It's also important to note that, in gameplay, Lifetaker only works during the player phase, implying that draining an enemy's energy simply won't happen if the attack is unintentional in some way. For him to drain anything, it has to be completely on purpose, and honestly? That eventually takes a serious mental toll on him, because it isn't easy to deliberately drain another person's life for his own gain nor is it something he's proud of.
#( headcanons. )#the way this literally took me like an hour and a half to write bye#my fingers are killing me h

Anyway while I’m on a Brynhildr kick: it’s described as “ a tome that can manipulate earth, gravity, and life ”, and while that’s an incredible kind of magic, there are also several side effects. Brynhildr requires energy from something, and that “something” happens to be the one who wields it. Which means, after extensive use, Brynhildr can leave Leo feeling light-headed / “floaty”, nauseous, or fatigued. Over the years, he’s built up a pretty good tolerance to the effects, but he also never used it quite as much as he does during canon events, especially in Conquest or Revelations. The only reason he’s able to manipulate his surroundings to such an extent in his Birthright cutscene is because he just hasn’t been using it as often as he would in Corrin’s ranks.
In the first two routes, though, he may appear dazed or slightly off-balance due to frequent use, which...is kind of a bad thing considering he still has a horse to ride and navigate. It isn’t impossible to do so, but he does have to take extra care in moving her around and knows to take things a little slower than he normally would ( which is also the explanation I like to give for his godawful speed stat lol ). Because of the side effects listed, in an absolute worst case scenario, extreme overuse could render him immobile for days until his energy fully returns.
To add onto this, in a very literal sense, the skill Lifetaker is incredibly useful not only from a gameplay perspective, but also a story one since it takes energy from those he has to kill and restores his energy, which obviously keeps him going. However, this is also not without flaw as using it too much can give him the equivalent of a sugar high, which means once that excess wears off, he will crash. Both Brynhildr and Lifetaker work well when used together in moderation, but too much of either can seriously hurt both his performance and his body.
#( headcanons. )#i also wanna talk about the other skills he can learn bc im sure i could find a way to have them make sense from a story perspective but uh#later perhaps; this was already long enough dKERIJNGF

“ Some people reflect light, some deflect it. You, by some miracle, seem to collect it. ” Even Leo is aware of just how bizarre such a statement may be, but it’s a truth that must be said, if not by him than by someone at some point. It is an irrefutable fact that, Sonia somehow manages to light up even the darkest of rooms. It’s unlike him to be fascinated by something so pure, yet the fact that someone like her exists is bewildering in every form of the word. Like all things unfamiliar, his instinct is to learn about her.
“ Just how do you manage to be so overwhelmingly radiant? It... It’s unnatural. Almost disturbing, but in a positive way. ”

" And just how do you expect to grow into your new role if you expect everything to be handed to you? " A rather harsh take, maybe, but surely she has enough sense to know that he's right. He's even more unfit for the leader role than she is, so he'd be just as lost in her shoes ( or rather, her lack thereof ) but his advice is common sense. Sheltered life or not, she would never mature if she needed her hand held for her whole life.
" I'm no better equipped for this situation than you are, but know that with a plethora of possible answers, there are an equal number of backup possibilities as well. At some point, you will likely make a mistake. That's inevitable for all of us. " Hearing himself say so is rather comforting, considering such a comment puts them on an equal playing field, but he doesn’t dare bring that up now. " However, you will have me and the rest of our siblings to put you back on your feet should you stumble later on. ”
“ Now, tell me again why you’re letting the fear of failure break you down when the endless solutions and support should be building you up? "
