30 Day Language Challenge (day 1) : Write about your favourite animal

Words that are in blue are words I had to look up.

Mon animal préféré, c'est la guêpe, ou plus spécifiquement, les membres de la famille Polistinae, parce que je suis un peu confus par si «guêpe» peut aussi signifier des certains types des abeilles ou des fourmis (j'aime les abeilles aussi, mais les fourmis non). Les guêpes sont très intelligentes; le type qui est très-commun dans mon état, elles peuvent distinguer des visages des personnes spécifiques et les rappeler, et elles me semblent aussi des animales très-curieuses et très-interactives; il y a quelques études récentes sur si elles peuvent jouer selon les classifications qu'on a développé, et les conclusions ne sont pas certains, mais je pense que oui, ou au moins elles semblent d'avoir une capacité d'aimer explorer des nouvelles choses dans leur environnement pour aucune autre raison que la curiosité.

Les deux photos que j'ai attaché, je les ai pris des guêpes qui vivaient dans mon jardin, et c'est pas la meilleure photo, mais dans la première tu peux voir un peu de ce coloration rouge/marron que quelleques-unes ont et que je trouve très beau.

Langblr Introduction

Hello, bienvenue sur mon blog! I've been seeing bits of the studyblr community for a while and finally decided to join, with the idea that posting here can be some form of accountability. I'd also love to meet more people who are interested in similar subjects^^

Moi c'est Alex (he/him), j'ai 18 ans

I'm a first-year college student, technically a junior, and I'll be graduating spring of '27

Je fais une double-majeure en histoire et gouvernement et politique internationale, avec une mineure en français

I'm from Virginia, currently studying abroad in Spain

Languages:

🇺🇸 anglais (native)

🇫🇷 français (estimating B2– hoping to reach C2 by the end of the next academic year)

🇷🇺 russe (A2)

🇪🇸 espagnol (started learning two weeks ago, I don't have a specific goal except for being more functional in the language while I'm here)

🇻🇦 latin (50/50 whether or not I can read it if I just stare at the page long enough, does that count for something?)

🇩🇪 allemand (haven't started yet, want to reach fluency by when I graduate)

Interests/Talk to me about:

Histoire– bonus points for colonial virginia and new england, early american politics, the reign of Louis XIV, the enlightenment, la révolution français, and the progressive era

Littérature– Voltaire, Camus, Sade, Molière, Cormac McCarthy, Hawthorne, etc. If you recommend me something I'll probably read it.

Linguistique

Musique– MIKA, Queen, The Who, David Bowie, Mozart l'Opéra Rock, Billy Joel, Led Zeppelin; classic rock and rock opera with a little bit of everything on top

What I post:

Not sure yet! I want to start by trying some of the langblr challenges on here, so I'll be posting those. Possibly study tips. Resources that I find. Vague attempts at aesthetic posts.
