when people like your OCs it is truly one of the best feelings ever. but when they also UNDERSTAND your OCs??? When they say or do something that just makes you go "oh they get it." UNBEATABLE.

not cluttering up the reblogs on that one post but people on tumblr/twitter are so fucking weird about post covid syndrome.

namely there seems to be an assumption that if you get long covid, it's because you are an able bodied person who just "wasn't careful enough" and "went back to normal" and "hates disabled people." lots of posts celebrating that the assumed able bodied long covid patient "knows what it's. like now" and "woman who voted for the leopards eating people's faces party now has the leopards eating her face"

i shouldn't have to tell people that i was already immunocompromised or that i caught covid from a family member who went to a party. i shouldn't have to have my own behavior interrogated for like. times i took off my mask to take a sip of water, or times i hugged a friend. for people to determine whether i deserved multisystem inflammatory syndrome, to suffer lifelong multisystem organ and nerve damage, to lose the ability to walk unaided, to lose the career i'd spent years training for, to be 27 and have no idea what my future is going to look like or even how long of a future i have given everything. and you know what? even if a person who believed the CDC when they said that covid was over experienced this? they'd still deserve access to medical care and disability supports.

Dlicti!!! This is the one I misread as Declan the first time around. I've been struggling with this one I am not going to lie. It's mmmmostly because Dlicti has always been my least developed of the two time crew, just behind Ferics. I feel like most of her fears, the fears of being considered a descriptor, are kind of moot..? She doesn't feel like she would have many Fear responses to being described any certain way. She's remarkably sure in herself, the kind of DID where the identities are so fully isolated from eachother that he doesnt know she even has it. Memory barriers and all. The trauma holder of Dlicti's system hasn't surfaced in forever, and they probably won't any time soon. That kind of DID.

This could in part be because her story is heavily frontloaded with suffering. All things considered she doesn't have a particularly stressful worldquest— for her it may be more therepeutic really. In the Cherub arc she sides with Calfuray, but more in a... Calixtus kind of way? A Calfuray is in the right but you guys shouldnt kill eachother about it kind of way. Mmmmm... I dont think the Main Dlicti, or rather just the one we see the most, host i guess, would have any sore spots... not like Declan or Dethy do, anyway. He's not really... insecure. Not like that. Not in a fear way.

I think all of her intense reactions to negative things are disgust/anger or freeze/fawn responses... the most intense of which would probably being sexualized. Catcall style.. maybe that could even be a lingering form of their pre-freedom terror, being percieved as attractive physically... Mm... He would scoff at someone for implying shes not capable, Nnanntis made sure she was. Anyone who tried to take her independence would get a swift and lasting introduction to the broad side of her favorite beating stick (horn) with many free passes to more intimate arrangements with it should they desire to repeat their attempts. I think they would kind of... mildly tune out when people reminisce about normal teen things around her. Hee spent her teenage years in slavery. She cant relate. ...

She's like Perpep in that most of her life was effectively totally lost for her, but she, aided by having way more time to develope in several ways and also actually having positive connections like the safety and comfort of Nnanntis and to a more trauma-processing and social extent Dethy. — sidebar, what if Dlicti and Stryss knew eachother, i wonder... It would have this strange little loop of familiarity that orbits around the Seer, the Ur-Crane knowing the Carillion and sharing a quadmate with her, the Carillion being Doomed Yuri (I think Carillion and Botanist is more yuri than yaoi despite being straight due to the cannibalism, the cannibalism makes it yuri just like how Oftcas and Halfiron are yaoi despite neitgher of them being men (though Resprite could retroactively make it even More yuri [man Respit is literally the only cis, peri, het in twotime. not even his alt-self is free from the queerification beam (is intersex queer? i mean i absolutely embrace intersex folks into the queer community (As Should You) and they are part of the acronym, yeah id say theyre queer. i wonder why it feels odd to say that. hm)])) with the Botanist, the Botanist being the ghost dad of Stryss, Stryss knowing Dlicti, Dlicti knowing Ur-C. — Because of all of the positive influence just those two people add he has a much more healthy way of thinking about it, a more painless way of thinking about it anyway.

Dlicti Missed less of his life, especially proportionally to their average lifespans, even if their time in the carnival was far more Brutal and Stressful... and they had a chance to take back her individuality... Perpep never Developed independence, whereas Dlicti had to relearn it.

Part of Dlicti's chillness may be a low-grade dissociation... but i think its more of a ' not worth the worry ' kind of thing, a brutally efficient cutting of losses. Dlicti doesnt *not* linger on the past, but he doesn't really grieve for it either... she's kind of monkish, really... very sstryssesque i think— maybe he got it from her, is my thinking...— she's a very... Time Adventure (song) thinker. big picture. She would take a bullet and keep going, she wont waste time letting something heal wrong, not when she can act now and start the recovery quicker. The dead are dead, but she can pay remembrance to them. Cruel deeds have happened on this land, but she can make it a garden...

I was talking with a friend and considering troll boobs once more, and I think I found an angle that i just straight up love.

Eusocial insects have second, social stomachs which they use to give excess food to the homies a la kirby and his helpers in Super Star. What if troll breasts served a similar purpose!

Trolls have always had a wierd little thing where we dont know why theyd be dymorphic sense we seem to know that, at least with our established communal canon and all that, theyre all functionally identical on an actual sex level. With humans our modern conception of gender grew out of social norms for our sexes, so what do we even call assigned gender at hatching when it comes to trolls? in humans the gender is assigned based on sex, or just whimsy if the kids intersex because fuck this stupid planet. So whats up with trolls, why do some have boobs. If its just a random difference thing, like how some people have cleft chins, then why would people care so much as to have similar misogynistic tendencies on planets like Beforus as we see with Latula? That seems to suggest its something more influential than just 'some people have bigger noses' style stuff.

From a biologists point of view, using modern albeit flawed terminology, the 'female' (read: bearer, or queen) of the troll species is the mother grub, and the trolls are 'male,' (read: donor, drone) ironically if Drones are part of the troll species which i personally love as part of my canon, they would be workers, using ant and bee (and probably termite) terminology, not drones.

This is interesting because drones(real world term) are typically produced through unfertilized eggs which is DEFINITELY not the case for trolls. Though, considering how rare mothergrub turnover seems to be a Rare emergency event, the Matriorb seems to be an unfertilized egg which produces a new mothergrub, and everything else about trolls themselves, id just chalk that up to them being aliens, nothing on our planet will be a perfect analog to them, its convergent evolution, not relationary evolution.

Trolls seem to have this set up in what the real world terminology would consider castes. the greater troll species would have these castes

Queen Mothergrub (comes to be after virgin mothergrub does... Something???? accepts her first bucket perhaps?)

Virgin Mothergrub (Hatched through Matriorb, unfertilized parthenogenesis)*

Drones (unfertilized, lain by Queen mothergrub)

Trolls (fertilized through pails)

His Tyranny (who fucking knows, royal jelly but for drones???)

Through this model the greater troll species would, genetically, be very stable. each generation of mothergrub allows for the only chance of natural selection and all that shit, but the Troll caste would be able to go through tons of generations per generation, like a second, smaller evolution inside your evolution. The only restraint on troll evolution would be remaining genetically compatable with the mother grub, [ assuming im even correct about that being sex, maybe the mother grub is a host for trolls who are parasites, but thats for a post on Wierder trolls. ]

I propose that troll gender is based off of morphs. adding a caste in there for Trolls (c) and Trolls (b). Like major ants or warrior termites, aproximately half of all trolls, though the ratio is skewed towards B due to some caste shenanigans, are C, and the rest are B. Cs are assigned male at... probably pupation, and Bs female.

I propose that troll breasts are a form of social nutrient sharing glands, somewhere between the milk crop of a pigeon, the mammaries of a mammal, and of course, the social stomachs of ants and bees (and maybe termites). I propose that they evolved as a way to share nutrients, and evolved out in Troll(C)s perhaps as a form of evolutionary specialization, think honey pot ants.

This would give a reason for why trolls have gender rolls corresponding with having breasts, it explains why they have misogyny— It Allows For Hormonal Transgender (Transmorph?) Therapies, it explains WHY THEY HAVE BOOBS AT ALL. ALL WHILE FITTING THE THEME.

Misogyny in trolls having the same theming as in humans make sense too, because concepts of nurturing coresponding with having a built in mechanism for nutrient sharing is. just what we have!!! It would give an evolutionary reason for why jades are seemingly either all type B, or just MOSTLY. And that part specifically, Jades being primarily type B trolls, would allow for the all the childhood related idiosyncrasies we humans have around breasts to translate to trolls too! It would explain what exactly the fuck trans trolls are doing, and it would give greater understanding to intersex (intermorph??) trolls!!!!!!

This raises a lot of interesting questions about the notions of... well breastfeeding in troll society. I imagine it would be something mildly taboo, as most of alternian and beforan culture is heavily western and we fuckers are so fucking wierd about peoples bodily autonomy. But it could also be like a Homies thing. I imagine it would be kind of viewed as mildly animalistic or base, probably never said like that, but thats the quiet part im saying out loud.

If you guys have thoughts on eusocial troll breasts and their agabs (agaps?) being based on morphs let me know, i think this is my new canon for all my trolls.

Y’know what? Trench said this and it’s been pinging in my mind for a hot minute or so, so I wanna get into it.

To start off: Resprite, once fused with Stryss’ Sheepmom, is very wooly! Guy with natural curls + huge fluffy sheep makes a really fluffy Momdad!

On that note, I feel that Resprite is probably a bit conflicted on her wool. The Sheepmom aspect of him is quite fond of it, likes being wooly and being able to use it to give comfort, respite. The Botanist portion of her is a bit more partial to being cut down. As a burgundyblood on Alternia, and in a…likely not well respected profession, he tried to keep himself very well put together in order to get what little respect he could. So it makes for a bit of an interesting time when getting shorn.

I do think he really does like the social aspect of shearing though. It’s something she only really shares with people he’s especially close with, so likely only really Perpep, Stryss, and *maybe* Lykoii. It shows an extreme sense of safety and trust, especially to allow something as sharp as a blade to get that close to him.

With Perpep it’s of course something..for lack of a better term, more intimate. I think he tries to show her that he trusts her a lot, she wants to let her have free agency with it. It’s a bit hard to articulate but, there is an inherent..understanding, solidarity, perhaps, being both parts sprite and lusus. Resprite trusts Perpep a lot more than it may initially seem given his somewhat quiet demeanor, and generally wants her to feel comfortable with that trust. I really like to think that they balance each other out quite well. I’m just a bit rough at articulating it-

With Stryss and Lykoii, that’s his kids, family bonding. Stryss is someone she had taken care of, as a lusus, ghost, and Sprite, that’s his daughter! Stryss already knew how to shear Sheepmom when needed, so not much change with Momdad. I like to think they catch up with one another fairly often, cutting hair and wool while chatting about what’s gone on in their lives. Lykoii is a bit more distant but, that was SheepMom’s first ‘honorary kid’, that’s someone she tried to take care of when she could, and that translates over to Resprite too. The Botanist knew of Lykoii as well, and his thoughts were pretty complicated but, it’s a bittersweet fondness at the end of the day, I think. Although not his kin, Lykoii is someone Resprite generally cares a fair bit about, and someone she would likely trust enough to help, similar to Stryss.

Resprite in general cares a lot about the people around him, just like Respit, and really wants to take the opportunity to show them that.
