So... I'm considering moving blogs. I don't want to delete the rest of what's on this one but I think I need a refresh.

When writing x readers and oneshots instead of longer stories or oc-based work, I have a problem of characterising characters very differently. Did this on my obey me blog too. Idk,, it's like, I feel like people expect certain things (Watch Over Me was good writing but bad character and very misinterpreted as well but I kind of expected it to be, so what does that say, you know), and also if I ever want to experiment I feel like I have to do it with the given ccs of my fandom.... (Married, for instance. There are a couple of aspects in it that are L-ish to me, but most are just for the sake of the plot, which was a plot that I wanted to write, and L just happened to be the character I put in the story.)

Ehhhh idk if anyone else gets this. But hopefully it'll be clear once I write more of Rehn's story, L in particular, even at the time of writing most fic requests it wasn't really what I thought of him. Pandering to the audience, sort of? (Detective SO, To Hold Your Hand, any of the more specific requests) And it's fine that people enjoyed them but I just. That's not who the characters are to me and having all these different versions of them on here makes me all muddled.

And besides, (kind of more importantly) since I'm no longer writing x readers at all, I think my audience should know what to expect. And then I don't have the pressure of those unanswered asks in my inbox. Sorry if yours is one of them.

So yeah. I'll probably change this url to caramelarchive2 or something and make a new lawlietscaramels. With a new email this time too FBDBBF

All About Shadowban

Tumblr ‘How To’s

I had no idea about Tumblr’s shadowban until it happened to me. Since then, surprisingly quite a few number of people have texted me about them getting shadowbanned as well. Now that I’m aware of it, I realize it’s becoming increasingly common for legit blogs like mine to get shadowbanned for no reason at all. So hope this helps everyone who has to unnecessarily go through this.

What does shadowban exactly mean?

Basically, your blog exists and mostly functions as it normally would, but Tumblr has made it invisible to everyone else. Tumblr lets you believe that everything is fine and that you can interact with others, but actually you can’t. (Look at the wikipedia definition here.)

Why does this happen?

From what I understand, blogs get shadowbanned since they are suspected of being bots, or just sketchy, or they might be going against Tumblr’s guidelines. I’m not sure, but it might also happen if someone has reported your blog. 

But more often than not, it’s just a tumblr glitch. 

How to tell if your blog has been shadowbanned? And most of the things that happen during this state.

(These are the things that I personally went through. It might not be the same for everyone. Also, my main blog (@that-damn-girl) was shadowbanned. My side-blogs were fine. So in case your main blog is fine but your side blog is shadowbanned, you might have a different experience.)

19. How do you get over writer's block?

Er.... when I get writer's block it's usually because I don't know where the story goes because I haven't plotted, or because I am plotting and get bored...

So sometimes I move onto a different story and the same thing happens again,, but from now on I'm going to try to focus on why I'm doing it!! For Rehn!!

26. Do you ever "prep" your fics with outlines or warmups before you start writing, or do you just dive right in?

See above 😔 usually I don't plot, and then I get stuck for lack of plot, and then I try to plot, and then I move to another story. BUT I've started plotting a bit more consistently for 1429 which is good! And I hope to do more of that in future!!

15. Does anyone you know in real life know you write fanfiction?

My parents, little brother and nonna all read the original draft of 1429, and one of my friends knows about it too,, so yeah 😔 I need people to listen to me yap about my ideas so I can figure out the gaps in my plots and writing it out online just doesn't work as well as speaking

17. What is something you recently felt proud of in your writing?

Apart from the fact that I've managed to plot? actually plot!!

I've also managed to master the "say that they said things without saying what they said" dialogue trick and write actual things happening instead of just filler! Also I really like writing Rehn.

18. How many WIPs do you have and how many do you expect to finish?

I have... let's see!

1. multibook multichapter from my previous fandom — will finish at least the current book but not really sure if I'll keep going to the end since I left before the anime concluded. very little motivation as well but I feel a sense of duty to the story

2. week, a college au where some of the cast are teachers and they're trying to get their class to be the best, based on a "reverse prompt" — probably not I don't have much care for this one and there's a LOT of poetry. I prefer purple prose. (sadly not sarcastic)

3. fish and seagulls and chips and murder, a little story in between 1429 and DN canon, mostly to help the transition of L and Rehn's relationship to L and Rie — yeah I think so! it's not my priority right now but the point of it is also to be an easier, shorter story. and also it's important to The Plot

4. 1429, Rehn's story — if I don't finish this it's because I am dead. I'm not sure how long it will take me (ahem. PLOTTING) but I am Going to finish this story

5. DN canon because technically I started writing a few scenes — tbh kind of less invested in this than 1429 but it's also very important to me. less invested because canon is very restrictive. it does mean I don't have to plot as much though...

6. of a and b, full version — haha. proooobably not going to finish this. not enough ideas, little motivation.

7 (honourable mention) untitled work about pop star Hideki Ryuga leading a double life as a detective — okay technically I haven't started this and it would be a decent size project,,, but COME OONNN the premise is way too good to abandon
