I am so sorry I suddenly went M.I.A. I had to ask for a semi hiatus, because my bachelors thesis is due in six days, and my advisor asked me to change pretty much my entire thesis paper, so I’m overwhelmed and working like hell to make the deadline. I miss writing with you guys, and I’ll be back as soon as I hand this thing in!!

Engrossed in a game on her phone, Carolina was gone to the world. It wasn’t often she found herself being caught up in technology which didn’t consist of bragging about fashion or posting selfies, but this game had several levels and somehow she’d got hooked, determined to make her way to the top. When another girl came to sit down next to her, she hardly noticed. Until she was spoken to that was. “Oh you don’t want it?” She asked a bit surprised, eying the others seemingly defeated expression.
Willow was having a hard time dealing with the cravings that came with being a new vampire. So usually she tried to keep active to take her mind off things. But this was a day that was especially bad so she tried an experiment where she went to a local fast food place to order fries and a milkshake, something she always splurged in before she was turned. Sadly with one bite of each she came to the realization that they tasted nothing like what she remembered. She sat down on a sidewalk bench with a heavy sigh without realizing there was someone next to her. “Do you want these? I promise there is nothing wrong with them. Just not what I expected I guess.”

dominicacton:
Dominic certainly wasn’t expecting to arrive in town and know anyone. He was typically the kind of person that went to big cities, but he was getting bored with all the lights and the noise, and sometimes he just wanted a quiet place to rest - nothing was ever quiet in the city. So when he discovered Fallcrest, he was packing and then getting on a train almost immediately. And although he’d already found a roommate, he figured he could joke around with a coworker about finding somewhere to live - up until he felt something on his shoulder. Instantly, a grin broke out across his face, and he spun around to face her, pecking her lips before smiling again. “I actually just found a place to stay - but I don’t mind the idea of staying some nights at yours.” He told her playfully. “I didn’t know you were in Fallcrest! It’s fate, bringing us together once more.”
Carolina was already reminiscing about old times, given just how vital they had been to each other. She didn’t have a whole lot of old friends lying around, but Dominic was that one of a kind. The one who had actually needed her and she’d ended up needing him in return. Not to mention the mind blowing sex. That too was pretty unforgettable. This place had begun to get boring, but now Carolina felt a certain sense of relief, knowing Dom was here to liven it back up with her. Thank the gods. Her grin only widened at that cute peck, momentarily able to keep from leaning in for another taste, though she did easily loop her her arms around his neck. “Bummer. I do have an awfully large bed.” She smirked at him with a sheen of mischief to both her lips and eyes, imagining all the fun that they could have. “You’re welcome to stay whenever you like.” This time she was entirely serious, hugging him tightly, unable to keep from laughing lightly. Happy, oh so happy to see him, all jokes aside. “Oh its more for convenience, and my brother, than anything else. But right? The universe clearly wants us to quit being apart.”

Carolina leaned against one of the rooms pillars, half in shadow as she watched the male with shining eyes. Now who would have thought this little bugger would have found his way into town? Certainly not her. But it was beyond intriguing, and she was all too happy to see him again. However, for the time being she was mentally clamping down on her urge to run over and hug and kiss him as she listened in to the conversation instead, gathering information. He hadn’t planned this, now that only added to her curiosity. And no place to stay huh? Now she could change that, at least for a little while. Watching the guy next to Dom get a thoughtful expression, she decided to step in, moving at vamp speed but also with vamp grace to stand right behind Dominic, leaning her chin on his shoulder as she replied to the question. “I do happen to know of this beautiful girl who for sure wouldn’t mind it if you stuck around for a while. She happens to have some space available.”
It had been less than a day in the town of Fallcrest, and Dominic was stumped. He’d already checked craigslist and a couple of other sites, and there didn’t seem to be anywhere to stay that was up his alley… ergo, he decided he’d pester people about it. The brunet didn’t usually drink coffee, but he figured it would be good to blend in, so after getting himself a small cup of the liquid, he sat across from someone, not looking at them too carefully before speaking. “So, say there’s a new guy in town, doesn’t really know anyone, didn’t really plan coming here very well… and he doesn’t have a place to stay yet. Where do you think he could find someone looking for a roommate? You don’t know anyone do you?” After a quick pause, the Brit added, “oh, and I know how strange this is. Sorry ‘bout that.”

nathanieladamson:
It was another of those days when he got a call from his sister asking him to pick her up and telling him next to nothing despite his several questions. He knew what this was – she had gotten into completely unnecessary trouble and he now had to go and clean up after her. It had been something he was doing for so many years that even though he told her off every time in an attempt to make her more responsible, he was sort of.. used to it. Used to how she could be. It didn’t make him angry like it used to years ago. It seemed, he had come to terms with the fact that this is how she is and he had learnt to be sort of okay with it. His only worry was if she would put herself in danger and end up getting hurt. She maybe an immortal vampire but she still had weaknesses. And if he simply let her do as she pleased, it wouldn’t end well for her.
His car stopped and within seconds she had gotten in the passenger side and he began to drive again. Despite her words, he was silent for a couple of minutes. Glancing her way, he sighed when he saw the mess she was and the clothes she was wearing – not that vampires got cold but he still couldn’t help but stretch back and grab his jacket which lay in the back seat and hand it to her with one hand still clutching the steering wheel. “So, from what I understand, if you did give your right details, you would be charged?” he asked finally, glancing at her again before his eyes went back to the road. “Do you want to cause more trouble by giving wrong information to the police? What are you thinking, Caro?”
While Carolina was one hundred percent expecting a lecture, she also knew that she deserved it. At times she too wondered how on earth it was possible to attract this level of trouble, or create the messes that she did. As a child she had been scared that she was cursed somehow, dabbling in religious beliefs and heavily influenced by some of her mothers relatives at court. At some other point she had deduced that her looks and attitude drew in a particular type of person, almost exclusively those who were up to no good, or were just as drawn to trouble as she herself was, amplifying what was already there. Of course she knew she had lots of flaws. A love of having loads of good and fun times, a lack of control, the urge to impress and fit in with strangers, yet a rebellious streak which had her stubbornly doing the opposite of what she was told or advised to do. All in all it was a bad combination of a lot of things.. and she had tried to change, tried to be better, walk a straight line, be more mature and responsible. But the longest she had made it was about a week, possibly two at the most with tons of good, and only good, influence around her. Clearly she should prioritize that in roommates and flirtations or friends.
Once in the car, it was not the knowledge of the talking to she was about to receive that did Carolina in. No it was always the guilt and god the looks, and that all too familiar sigh. Just as she had perfected being the sibling that needed saving, Nate had long since perfected the disapproving big brother look and sound. You’d think after 500 years he would have had enough. Told her to sail her own leaking boat and leave him out of it.. but he never did. He was always there for her. Carolina knew she hardly deserved him but she was all too grateful that he never gave up on her or turned his back on her regardless of what she had done. “Yes..” she quietly, and not without shame, replied. “But thats.. I didn’t want to be in any police database. Not now when the supernatural is no secret anymore.. can you even imagine what a supernatural prison looks like?” She pointed out, fairly sure she would be in one now if the police had been up to speed since the 1500s.

vampirerosalie:
Rosalie had nearly fallen asleep on the couch in the living room of their apartment after reading for a couple hours, but was jolted into an upright position at the sound of Carolina yelling her name from outside the front door. Standing up and stretching for a brief moment, Rosalie made her way over to the door, unlocking it before immediately opening it up for the dark haired girl. “I take it you forgot your key again?” She replied teasingly, before furrowing her brows in confusion at the other’s words. “Hold on, what do we need trash bags for? And you know I have a car… Care, what’s going on?”
She wasn’t the put together type of person, at least not when something mildly stressful had happened. Trying to gather herself just a little, Carolina forced down some unnatural breaths, yet still as a vampire the illusion of needing air had a calming effect. “Yes! But also there’s just a slight.. ahm.. hiccup.” She said, pressing her lips together while unsure how to phrase it or to even explain. While Carolina was fairly sure Rosalie would help her out, she still suspected the other would be just a bit mortified by her actions, not unlike her big brother would have been. “Just.. please get your keys so we can take the car and uhm.. trash bags or a blanket or.. something to cover him up so people won’t scowl at us carrying a ninety pound, half dead male. I just.. he tried to feel me up and was so damn clingy and I snapped, okay? You know I have some issues with my temper sometimes..”

Lucy nodded “It’s fine, it’s extra money so I can bear with it.” She let out a heartless chuckle, maybe not feeling as if the money was worth it at this exact moment “I guess I just haven’t seen you around then. I don’t normally work this late. I hope you don’t hate it, but there are always customers like that.” Lucy sighed a little, knowing all too well the feeling of angry old people yelling at her “That’s why I normally stick to being in the kitchen, where they can’t yell at me. Not to mention I’m terrible in situations like those. So kudos to you for dealing with them.”
“Every little bit helps.” Carolina smiled a bit. She knew very little about wanting for money to be honest. Her step father had been a wealthy duke and taken her into the family to cover up her mothers indiscretions, and after she turned she had already a lot of money to her name, as well as the ability to steal, con and use society in order to always have decent cash on hand. It wasn’t the most legal nor upstanding way to earn, but when you were over 500 years old you at some point ceased to care about legalities, laws and the limits society tried to put on the average human. She had seen empires rise and fall, seen the change first hand. Knowing it would never end but always change left her plenty careless about whether or not she earned money in an honest way. “Its totally alright, I mean there’s not a bucket of employees but enough that you shouldn’t be expected to know everyone on a first name basis. I manage. Its not a dream job but its something to do and learn from.” She shrugged a bit. “There will always be people like that. I’m sorry you’ve experienced that though. Its not a pleasant situation to be in. If it happens again and I’m around I’ll be sure to take the jerk off your hands. Cause I really don’t mind, dealing with them. Allows me to blow off steam on someone who actually deserves it.”

Carolina leaned back against the wall behind her bed with a small sigh. She had cleaned out her closet for the millionth time. Washed the kitchen counters, tried to find a series to watch by herself, called Nate just to talk, and now she was out of excuses to stay home. Which wasn’t good. Something she was trying to be at the moment. Good and stable and.. more normal maybe? Pressing her lips together the vampire looked longingly at this incredibly cute dress she had found the other day which hung on her bedroom closet door. It was the perfect one for a night out dancing. But a night out never turned into ‘just a night out’. You could bet that she would end up doing something else she shouldn’t, pissing someone off and creating chaos or just plain get ensnared by someone to participate in something trouble-like. A temptation began to tug at her, Lina slipped off her current outfit to put the dress on, studying herself in the mirror as she lifted her hair up to see if a ponytail would be better or not. In the middle of the process, there was a knock on the door. Padding out of her room, barefooted, Carolina opened the door. Not surprisingly, the sight of a distressed Hugo had the same effect on her as always, as she steeled herself for the gut punch of guilt, her eyes going wide and concerned by default. “Of course hon come, come. Doesn’t matter what time it is.” She said, taking both his hands in hers as she gently led him inside, the door shutting on its own behind them. “Can’t sleep?” Lina guessed, her mind racing at top speed in order to come up with anything that might make him feel better.
The past few days had been rather busy ones for Hugo. He almost always managed things fine but sometimes, it got difficult to balance study and work – which usually ended with him losing sleep. A completely exhausted Hugo had fallen asleep at an odd hour that evening and before long, he woke up with a start, stiffing a scream. Blood. It was all he could see. Blood everywhere. Not in his room, it was in his mind. The images of his dead parents was back to haunt him – their cold, dead, lifeless eyes staring up at Hugo. His hands had been covered in blood. He could taste it, he could taste their blood on his lips now.. he had to stop thinking about that night. He quickly got up from his bed, looking at the time – relieved to see that it wasn’t all that late at night. He didn’t waste any time, quickly stepping out of his apartment to get some fresh air to clear his head. He hadn’t consciously thought about where he was going but he found himself in front of Carolina’s door before long. She would understand him. Standing out there, he knocked the door, the smallest of smiles on his lips when she opened the door. “Sorry – I know it’s late but.. is it okay if I come in for a bit?”

“Yeah, I do. Ah, I don’t normally at this time but it looks like the other person who does this decided to take take the day off without warning me.” Probably more than Carolina cared to hear. “I haven’t seen you around though. Are you newer? Or have I just not been paying attention?” She glanced as some people left, the door ringing on their way out “I feel bad I didn’t come in earlier, I didn’t realize it was this busy.” Lucy felt like she was rambling. Usually not the most talkative, she was surprised she had spoken this much. “I hope you’ve been managing, people haven’t been getting too upset at the lack of stuff prepared.”
“How very rude of them. Sorry you had to come in on such short notice.” She said with a certain amount of empathy. It really was the worst being called into work when you had other plans or just wanted to stay in bed. It did not occur to Carolina that someone else might not have plans every night which involved more than Netflix and chill. There was only a few people she would sit still on a couch with without some other type of action going down. “Ahm new-ish. I started a couple of months ago but they haven’t really needed me to come in a lot until recently.” she explained with a slight shrug. She had only taken the job to appear to be doing something mildly productive and responsible. “Don’t feel bad, its just been one of those days.” Lina shrugged a bit. She had actually ended up using some of her vamp speed at work for once, just to get things done. “Oh this one guy tried cussing me out but he picked the wrong girl. I do not take that sort of shit from anyone so he was put in his place before getting his precious coffee.. you’d think he’d die from waiting two minutes total..” she shook her head a little. People really had no appreciation for time or hard work.

Hot mess | Nate&Carolina
“You better leave before I rip your throat out. And like it.” She hissed at the deputy, wanting to rip the idiot to pieces for being such an ass, but she couldn’t very well do so in a populated human precinct. Reluctantly dialing her older brothers number, Carolina gave as few details as humanly possible, sure that the damned car ride home would be an interrogation regardless of what she said. It wasn’t as if ‘normal’ people ended up almost two towns over each night they went out for a small drink and was arrested and detained, having to sleep in a holding cell with no breakfast when they were so rudely shook awake by police. The deputy escorted her all the way to the door, lingering by the window inside as she perched on the bottom step of the buildings stairs.
Carolina didn’t really bother to check her watch, nor had she calculated how long it would take Nate to drive over here. The feeling she was stuck with was all too familiar as she stared into the air, running tired fingers trough her long hair, sure her mini skirt and halter top with no jacket would for sure only add fuel to the fire. Worst of all she felt.. dirty, wrinkling her nose a bit as every smell coming at her had her throat ache in hunger. When the car pulled up, she got in the passenger seat, chewing her lip a little before speaking. “Before you say anything, they’re not actually charging me-me.. I gave a fake name and everything. And its.. the jerk was asking for it.”

“And I told you that if you want something edible, please don’t ask me to make pastries or anything having to do with food. I’m terrible at it, really.” Carolina tried explaining to today’s manager. He wasn’t the one she had trained with, neither was he the one she had worked for the day before. Or was it the week before? She couldn’t really remember, nor did she care all that much, as long as she wasn’t set to make anything, she would do her work in silence and get out of her, sooner rather than later. Picking up another coffee cup to dry off she was leaning against the kitchen counter, taking her sweet time in the hopes of the evening rush ending before she had to go back out there. She had finished with yet another cup when a unfamiliar girl came over. Able to hide that slight unwillingness to shake a over floured hand, Carolina extended her hand as well. “Hi Lucy, I’m Carolina. Its nice of you to come say hi. So you bake?”
Lucy didn’t work many evenings. No, she was a morning person through and through, she didn’t mind waking before the sun rose, she did it most of her life. So when she was asked to come in late one day she wasn’t sure she would actually be able to physically do it, at least not without coffee. When she walked in that evening, it looked like she had just missed a rush, things in disarray, a lot of food gone, and a new face at least to her working. Making a note to introduce herself when she had time, Lucy set to work, mostly to prepare stuff for tomorrow, but she couldn’t help but walk over to the unfamiliar face when the opportunity arose. “Hi, I don’t think we’ve met before. I’m Lucy.” She wiped the flour off her hand on her apron before extending it to shake the other girl’s hand.

Knocking, and knocking Carolina was nearly jumping up and down with panic climbing up her spine as there was no answer on the other side of the door. “ROSALIE!” She all but shrieked after another minute, running her hand trough her hair with shaky fingers, muttering to herself as she couldn’t exactly go anywhere either. She needed help and she needed it now. So when her friend came around the hallway corner, the raven haired vampire moved in a flash, reaching out for her friends hand to grip it tightly. “Please tell me you have ahm trash bags and.. oh god.. do you have a car here? If.. I mean we could steal one but thats just gonna bring more attention to it ahm..”

Carolina really couldn’t believe she had been here since seven thirty pm in the morning. Why on earth hadn’t she pretended to be sick when she had been called up? After last night she had deserved a night in bed. Her headache proved as much. Glancing up with a purse of her lips she didn’t move from the counter as one of the first customers came inside and her co-worker all too happily greeted them. Well wasn’t that convenient. Meant she could stay behind the register and drink her latte in peace. “They won’t keel over if you need to take a sec, its not like we’re overflowing with customers.” She said to Marcy when she came back from her latest table.
Macy enjoyed working at the cafe, even on days when it got so busy that there weren’t many seats left open. Today, however, the cafe was pretty dead, with only a couple people staggering in and out throughout the whole day. When she heard the little bell on the door ring, signalling that someone else had just walked in, Macy glanced over and smiled at the person who entered. “I’ll be with you in just a moment!” She called out, carrying a couple drinks over to another table before she approached the person by the door. “You can sit wherever you’d like.”
