Here’s my top 5 (top 8 really) and a response to the favorite character post @battiethelbb did. I might have missed some details on why I like these characters but eh it’s fine.

Honorable mentions:

Ra’s al Ghul

The league of assassins leader. This fossil of a being feels like he’s a kin to how bane is a foil to Batman. (I see why ra’s liked bane at some point.) This man not only a foil to Batman but is now part of his family cuz Talia had Damien Wayne, and help train Damien along with various members of the league of assassins. Also, he’s the leader of the league of assassins. Why does this man have aura? And this group has some influence too. Like it’s crazy. If the league wasn’t cult like, lowkey I’d wanna join.

Hush/Thomas Elliot

Hush seemed like such a fascinating character when I first saw him, and looking into him and finding out that he’s tied to main two of my favorite Batman characters and many other interesting characters within the Batman rogue’s gallery. That’s awesome. And the stories he has been affiliated with are interesting. He has a similar vibe to what venom did to Spiderman when they first met, hush torments Batman on different occasions. Who doesn’t love a character tormenting Batman? As if Batman doesn’t deal with that often lol

Catwoman/Selina Kyle

Is she a basic bitch pick? Probably. But I love her chemistry with Batman, and I love how she’s a foil to him. She’s mischievous and daring, just a fun character with fun interactions with others. And on some instances, she has been one who calms Batman down, and I love she’s the mom of the bat family. That look she gave Jason Todd in one panel just scares mom energy. Despite, Jason towering over her. Plus, cat lover. Need I say more. And yes, I know, she’s the one of the sex appeal characters in the Batman world but I don’t care. She’s a certified girlboss and I love her.

5) Deathstroke/Slade Wilson

Slade is a badass character, but I’m biased to mercenary characters. This man is usually killing just cuz it’s his job and nothing more. Unless, you’re Dick Grayson. The rivalry between him and Grayson is so petty and yet also understandable. He blames the teen titans, mostly Grayson, for the death of his son. And then, in the teen titans cartoon, Deathstroke sees Grayson as a worth opponent and a way to challenge Batman in a way. And he also has Jason Todd, and they are an even match. And Deathstroke has connections to the league of assassins, like come on that’s sick. I wanna see more interactions between Jason and Slade now. Make it happen DC!

4) Two-Face/Harvey Dent

Two-Face was always been fascinating to me. (Like a lot of these characters lol) Harvey is a broken man who lost everything when he snapped essentially, a district attorney turned bad due to everything he had going to shit. I don’t blame him for snapping. And the thing modern takes of the character make sure to get right is the DID aspect of his character. The version of him in Arkham Shadow is my favorite take on Harvey dent and the two face origin. To me, he’s like Mr. Freeze. Both of them have a lot of tragedy tied to them, but they have the potential to be redeemed like clay face and Harley. Tho, the Batman forever take has the coolest design for two face imo. I know that take on him is very joker like, the design is fire.

3) Robin/Tim Drake

The only “hero” I love out of the Batman cast. Tim is one of the many characters within the Batman cast that I relate to. It’s a similar story as to why Spiderman or Silver the hedgehog are favorites and are kins of mine. Tim has a similar energy to these two. Following the heart in doing the right thing. And the missed potential with Tim hurts. It feels like he sometimes doesn’t get the time to shine like the other Robins or other batfam members. He’s got better detective skills than Batman himself. He’s got the intelligence, the fighting skills. There’s a lot you can do with Tim. He’s a cool character.

2) Red hood/Jason Todd

Fun little fact, Jason Todd was one i predicted I’d love long before I got really into Batman. And I was right. Jason immediately became one of my favorite characters in Batman. Is he a basic bitch pick? Yea but i don’t care. I’m a sucker for tragic stories and characters and I love antiheroes and Jason checks off those boxes. I love his backstory and what he became, especially the story in Arkham knight, despite how rushed it felt. That story was heartbreaking. Jason’s whole backstory is heartbreaking, and I love that. His personality is relatable for me as well. From the short temper to having these thoughts of abandonment, that feeling of loneliness and bitterness, it’s all something I know too well. But, despite all that negativity aspects, his heart was always in the right place. He’s a broken soul that i honestly want to just give a hug because he needs it.

1) Scarecrow/Jonathan Crane

Crane and red hood are honestly tied for my number one favorite out of Batman cast. But Scarecrow was the one who started this hyperfixation. Thanks Batman begins. I love the concept of a very trusted figure like a therapist or psychiatrist being a villain. On top of that, crane’s character is fun to watch. I love his cold and manipulative personality. When this man is written right, he is a threat. And the horror aspect to him is another fact I love about him. Using fear and targeting one’s own fears and insecurities makes him a great villain to me and a great foil to Batman. Like Tim, there is a lot of miss potential. Why does most of his defeats come from him having his fear toxin being used against him? Come on, I wanna fear toxin immune Jon Crane.

Heads up tho some of these might end up changing over time lol
