Quick update!

The site was originally suppose to launch today at 2PM EST for everyone but we really want to make sure all the Admins have a chance to be around when we launch so we're delaying the official launch by 2 hours. So instead, the site will now officially open at 5PM EST! Sorry for the inconvenience everyone, we've been working really hard the past 24 hours to make sure everything is as perfect as possible for you guys!

are you guys doing any early reserves for powers, fcs, or any list of key roles like faction leaders or things like that? Im sure at least the staff has their characters in mind already so im curious what you guys are making

We are currently not taking any reserves through tumblr but we do have plenty of leadership roles, powers and faces that will certainly be free as the site opens! Of course, some members of staff have a lot of character ideas but we've done our best to keep a lot of powers open people will probably want and many roles of leadership of faction up for grabs! The only "leader" of a faction that's going to be taken is the Director of The Company.

I hope this answers your question! With it being so close to our launch date, it was a little late to start taking reserves now, but if you have any specific questions about a special face, power or faction I'd be happy to answer for you!

Awakened Powers: The first Gifted character created by each member must have newly awakened powers and be a novice at controlling them. This emphasizes the journey of discovering and mastering one's abilities.

Power Ratio: To maintain a balanced and diverse character pool, for every three Gifted characters you create, the next (fourth) character must be a civilian. This ensures a 3:1 ratio between Gifted and civilians.

Limited Power Usage: Each unique power can only be used twice on the site. For example, if there are already two characters with hydrokinesis, a third character with the same power cannot be created unless you purchase it from our site marketplace.

Primary Abilities and Applications: Each character is allowed to possess a single primary ability. This primary ability can have up to two applications that logically and directly correlate with the character's primary power. These applications should be detailed in the character's application.

Comprehensive Ability Descriptions: Character applications must include a detailed section describing their abilities. While not every aspect of an ability needs to be included in the app, members are encouraged to provide comprehensive descriptions. Be respectful to fellow players when using abilities in character.

Organic Growth and Changes: Powers can naturally change and evolve over time, but these changes should occur organically through in-character writing. Adjustments to the power section of a character's application should not be made solely to accommodate changes without roleplay. After 6+ months of activity and points accumulated, you can purchase an official ability upgrade or second power (if your character has one) from the marketplace.

Staff Approval: Staff approval is not required to make amendments to the power section of your application. However, changes should be in line with the character's development and not disrupt the balance of the RP. (So I think the opposite but you know)

Banned Powers:

Certain powers are prohibited within the RP site due to their potentially game-breaking nature. Banned powers include: Omnipotence/Omniscience Global Reality Manipulation Mythical Creature Physiology Vampirism/Lycanthropy Magic Power Replication Power Stealing Intuitive Aptitude (cannot be used to copy powers) Total Elemental Mastery Time Manipulation (This power will be under heavy scrutiny by the staff. They reserve the right to veto it completely or allow variations on the power to exist)

Around 300 BCE: Ouroboros is founded during the time of Alexander the Great. The organization operates in secrecy with the goal of maintaining balance between the Gifted and the Ungifted.

The Inquisition 1500: During this time gifted people were nearly hunted to extinction as they were deemed all manners of supernatural creature and even trialed as witches.

Resurgence December 1920: The dormant double helix stars to resurface and a new generation of gifted humans come into being.

March 6th 1960: Oakbrook Asylum is established as a mental institution, intended to house and treat individuals with mental health issues, including those who are Gifted.

April 20th 1968: The government agency known as Maple Publishing House is created to control and manage works created by Gifted individuals. It operates for a few years but struggles to fulfill its mandate and is eventually dismantled.

October 10th 1976: Kim Entertainment, originally a family-oriented entertainment company, thrives under the leadership of Kim Chung Ae, who expands its influence in the entertainment industry.

July 16th 1986: Oakbrook Asylum, once a respected institution, faces financial difficulties and begins to deteriorate.-

November 9th 1989: Oakbrook Asylum, plagued by financial difficulties, goes bankrupt and ceases operations.

May 4th 1993: Esther Jung purchases the land where Oakbrook Asylum stood and begins extensive renovations to transform it into Westwood Sanatorium, aiming to provide mental health services to the general public.

March 7th 2001: Westwood Sanatorium officially reopens, with a focus on mental health care. But secretly this includes rehabilitation for Gifted individuals struggling with mental health issues.

September 2002: Kim Entertainment's Chung Ae dies and his children move the company's base of operations from Seoul to New York City and undergoes a transformation, becoming Atlas Industries. The company diversifies its interests and becomes involved in various aspects including entertainment, shipping and biotech advancements.

June 26th 2006: Phantom Order, a group of villains seeking to control the destiny of the Gifted, starts making moves and plans to seize power.

February 12th 2007: Helix Academy is established as a boarding school to provide education and support for young Gifted teens and children.

August 2nd 2008: Lightwell Printing Company rises from the ashes of Maple Publishing House, adopting a new purpose of protecting and serving the Gifted community.

November 1st 2009: The Government establishes the Special Abilities Control Unit (SACU).

June 18th 2015: The first video of a Gifted using their powers goes viral.

January 1st 2019: The US Government announces the Registration Act for all Gifted citizens in America.

April 5th 2021: Eclipse P.I. is born when a group of Gifted friends comes together to solve a missing person case. They decide to officially establish their investigative team to assist Gifted individuals and handle cases involving superpowered individuals.

June 8th 2021: Phantom Order intensifies its efforts, particularly in response to government initiatives to control the Gifted population.

January 6th 2023: Westwood Sanatorium, with its secret mission to support the Gifted community and rehabilitate "villains," continues to operate discreetly under the leadership of Esther Jung.

The Discord is currently under construction, so if it's all done before the site launch, we will totally consider opening it for everyone to join before launch, we're just trying to get everything done by now, so make sure to look out on the tumblr for updates & thank you for the question!! ^^

Base Groups:

Lawful Good: Characters within this group uphold a strong sense of justice and morality. They follow the law and strive to do good in a lawful and ethical manner.

Lawful Evil: These characters are disciplined and organized but prioritize their own interests and ambitions over others. They may use the system to achieve their goals, even if it involves morally questionable actions.

Lawful Neutral: This group represents those who value order and structure without a strong moral inclination. They often follow a strict code of conduct or adhere to a personal sense of duty.

Neutral Good: Characters in this group are driven by a desire to do good but may not always follow the law if it conflicts with their moral principles. They prioritize helping others above all else.

True Neutral: These individuals tend to act in their own self-interest without a strong moral or ethical inclination. They may adapt to various situations and make decisions based on circumstance.

Neutral Evil: Characters in this group prioritize their own interests and ambitions over others and are willing to engage in morally questionable actions to achieve their goals. They do not adhere to a strict code of conduct or a strong moral compass, making them unpredictable and self-serving.

Chaotic Good: Characters here value freedom and individuality while working for the greater good. They may break the rules when necessary to achieve their goals for the betterment of society.

Chaotic Evil: This group consists of individuals who prioritize their own desires and will go to great lengths to achieve them, often disregarding rules and causing chaos in the process.

Chaotic Neutral: These characters embrace chaos and unpredictability. They act on their own impulses and desires without a strong moral compass.

Faction Groups:

Lightwell Printing Company: A company that serves as a cover for a former government agency, now dedicated to protecting and serving the peace for gifted individuals.

Helix Academy: A boarding school created to help young gifted teens and children learn to control their abilities and live harmoniously in society.

Phantom Order: A group of villains united against the government's efforts to control the gifted, willing to take extreme measures to ensure the superpowered community's dominance.

Eclipse P.I.: A team of gifted individuals who solve cases involving other superpowered individuals, helping those the authorities cannot.

Westwood Sanatorium: A mental institution specializing in the care and rehabilitation of gifted individuals, including those considered "villains" or dangerous.

Ouroboros: A secret organization with a mysterious origin and a mission to achieve balance between gifted and ungifted individuals through any means necessary.

On "Caught in The Sun" We follow the basic rules and regulation. Respect and inclusivity. Harassment, hate speech and threats will not be tolerated! We want to create a safe space for everyone to have fun and write together. And with that being said, here's some of the more specific rules you all might be interested in knowing:

Mature themes are accepted, as we are also Jcink Premium, so there will be a lot of darkness on the site. Player discretion is advised!

Members are required to post a minimum of one in-character post per month to maintain activity within the community for that character.

First character must be a newly manifested character .

Your first four characters are free! After that your previous characters must all have at least 10 IC (threads, not comms) posts!

We also follow a 3:1 ratio for non-gifted (aka "civilian") characters. So for every 4 characters you have, one of those must be a Civilian.

Character powers are limited to 2 of the same singular power by default, but you can purchase an addition 3rd slot in the marketplace!

Characters must be at least 18 years of age and faces must follow the 3 +/- rule.
