Classical musician, hater of classical music institutions ♡ "Anti anti SJW," since "anti SJWs" somehow still exist in Current Year ♡ Pro calling out classical music's aggressive focus on dead white men over talented composers of any other group

As someone who used to watch James Somerton frequently, the craziest thing about his downfall is his writer's admission that he didn't even research his topics.
Nick and James were making so much money off of their videos, especially with their patreon and mystery crowdfunding that magically disappeared. Meanwhile, I actually research anything "educational" I post from Tumblr posts that are lucky to get even one note to niche classical music tiktoks that rarely crack 1000 views.
I hate that these lazy, thieving men were rewarded so much for content that was either stolen from people who actually put in the work or made up on the spot based on vibes.
As a side note, it's wild how pretty much the only original material in the videos came from James's random misogynistic, biphobic, lesbophobic, acephobic (etc) rants. Calling Becky Albertalli a straight woman writing MLM fiction has the same energy as the people who've been calling Pandora Nox a straight woman trying to appropriate queer culture since before she was even on Drag Race, let alone won. So many people, mainly gay men, forget that women can be queer.

I've seen so much Try That in a Small Town merch for someone who lives and works on Long Island
My brother in Christ, how about YOU try that in a small town, and by "that" I literally just mean being anywhere near a small town

As someone who witnessed the prominence of anti SJWs and is now watching the same arguments be used by far-right politicians, I cannot stress enough how important it is to never underestimate the power of bad faith actors.
In anti SJW circles, I've seen people use obvious satire or outlandish takes made by incredibly small amounts of people as "proof" that certain minority groups (mainly queer people) shoot themselves in the foot when it comes to rights.
Now I'm seeing prominent politicians blow up individual stories and jokes and use that as reasoning to slowly legislate queer people out of existence.

I'm not reblogging the post because I'm not giving it any notes, but I wanted to talk about a transphobic post going around by a "centrist" that's been driving me absolutely bonkers
Big TW for transphobia
The post is about Dylan Mulvaney "stealing" a spot from women on a panel about women's issues, because she never grew up presenting as a girl/woman and therefore could never understand it.
She's never once pretended to be cis or have the same experience as a cis woman (and cis women don't exactly have universal experiences across the entire population either).
Then you've got the people calling her transition, and being trans in general, a grift, and saying that it's no different than an adult "identifying" as a small child.
I know that historical facts aren't a strong suit for transphobes, but trans people have existed longer than anyone on this hellsite has been alive. The first gender affirming surgeries were performed in the 1920s and 30s. That's quite the long haul for a "phenomenon" that supposedly only popped up in the last 5-10 years.
You can criticise Dylan's rapid rise to prominence and the privilege necessary to be able to achieve everything she has in such a short time (as well as the fortune to go viral and keep going), but taking shots at the mere fact that she is trans is not a healthy, productive, or logical way to go about it.
