Red hot actionable news: the website StopKOSA.com will send a letter from you about this godawful bill to your legislators. Zero effort. You literally just give them your e and mailing address.
You can see the text they’re going to use, and it’s editable, so you have the option (and it’s much easier than writing from scratch) to add a few words up front or tinker and paraphrase if you like, but you very much don’t have to. They will also offer you your legislators’ phone numbers — WITH handy talking points notes — for optional follow-up after the letter is taken care of.
(Hat tip to Julia Serano for alerting me to it. She has more to say about the potential of this bill to effectively eradicate LGBTQ+ content from the internet. If you thought FOSTA/SESTA was bad…)
—
KOSA is a censorship bill that won’t make kids safe. Instead, it'll put all internet users at risk, especially LGBTQ+ youth. If you believe in a free and open internet, tell your lawmakers to reject #KOSA! https://stopkosa.com/

This is one that might would have been better suited for Disability Pride Month but, as disability isn’t something that occurs one month out of the year, there’s nothing wrong with touching on a part of my daily life and identity. At the time i drew this artwork of my gremlin character Lon looking like he’d experienced a brush with Pinhead(Hellraiser) with all these chains coming from all angles and the rod sticking through his chest; I had been between treatments for my migraines and my body was feeling very out of control with intense trigger points in my back, shoulder dislocations. I was bed ridden, struggling with my asthma to the point I felt like a pike was piercing my chest. There didn’t feel like there’d be a end to my suffering and honestly there is a lot of pain that will never go away. However thankfully we found a treatment that helped me and we got some answers since this was done. Still I feel it does embody many of my frustrations at the time and even some now honestly though I am in a much better state. I tell you though, I really love drawing chains.

As Disability Pride Month comes to a close I wanted to post my disabled cowboy, Jess. He’s a jolly older horseman that’s been working cattle his whole life and he loves showing the young bucks how it’s done.

On this day of #disabilitypridemonth♿️ I wanted to highlight some cool people while sharing some book covers I was honored to put together. The author Krishna Washburn is also blind and in connective tissue disorder squad and she runs an amazing program called Dark Room Ballet.
I participated in her beginner class earlier this year and learned a lot from her about dance and my own hypermobile body though my body had other plans when it came to me completing the course. Will try again tho!
She also offers opportunities to learn to sighted performers though blind and visually impaired students take priority. She’s also involved in a documentary called Telephone and in bringing audio description to dance.
Another thing special about these is this was one of those rare times where I was to mimic another art style. Her father whom had passed, had done artwork for her previous books in the series and I was tasked with honoring him with these. I’m very honored to have worked on these.
I encourage y’all to check them out and Krishna’s books on Amazon

A letter to the CDC… I am still mad. I’m still mad that the CDC director thought it was ok to throw disabled under the bus. I’m still angry at how society threats us as disposable and a burden. We’ve lost so many that didn’t have to go. Our Suffering Is Not Your Silverlining. I was inspired by WolfskullJack’s artwork and a lot of the protest art others have created that is made up of heavy sketchy blackwork. Using a bat seemed fitting as well as a under appreciated, misunderstood bit of wild life. I apologize for the somber note but, this is why disabled joy matters. This is why disability pride month needs to be celebrated loud and showing what good is possible.

As Disability Pride Month is nearing a close and I wanted to insure I get one more post up here even if I didn’t find the energy to be more active this year. Though that in itself is something as a disabled person I’ve had to come to terms with time and time again. However while my goals to educate have fallen to the wayside, I did take time to take care of myself this month which is also a suitable way to celebrate the month.
in the name of coming to love yourself fully and living authentically I wanted to share a self portrait of sorts. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game that is very special to me and in a way it helped pave the way toward me becoming confident in myself. This is technically a character I created for a fanfic I was inspired to write to help with coping with the trauma of being disabled during the pandemic. I also just wanted more time with my fave characters but, I digress. Being such a big fan of RDR2, and as an artist fascinated by Rockstar games’ art style I took on the challenge of rendering Matt in the style of the promo material. Which is quite a undertaking when you’re color blind. This ended up a mark of great growth for me. I drew a human that looks right, I did an act of self love by drawing my full authentic self voluntarily for the first time. Matt also has my connective tissue disorder and blindness which I used to never do with my characters. I drew a horse well for the first time and I’m still beyond proud of what I’ve accomplished both artistically and personally. Self acceptance is hard at the best of times but, however the path you take toward it, it’s worth the journey even as that becomes something you need to practice versus expecting it to be one and done. I hope you find some media that you connect with as throughly as I connected with this game.

Did it work this time?
Just when I thought I was getting a posting rhythm figured out here the UI change happened and I couldn’t figure out how to post. The posting button disappeared then the site was refusing to load it and now I’m still unsure of if this site is going to let me post. Even though I’d fallen off posting here for a good while I did like the UI. Not a fan of this new one, particularly from a accessibility standpoint.

In honor of Disability Pride Month I decided I’d share one of my disabled ball player and superhero, Jackson. He’s among the first disabled characters I created with the intent to quit giving in to my internalized ableism and shying away from a big aspect of my lived experience. I hope to share more about him soon.
Alt text: side by side of a guy in the same blue, white and pink baseball uniform where the shirt is a croptop with number 19 on it and matching helmet his one blue eye and eyepatch covered right eye. He is swinging a baseball bat on one image he’s human with a light start of some dark facial hair on his warm skin tone. The other is a German shepherd, Australian shepherd mix with patches of tan, charcoal, brown and blue fur, his ears are half cocked as he swings the bat.

Since July is Disability Pride Month
(as opposed to every other month when we're all demure about disability rights /gentle sarcasm)
I wanted to highlight one of my favorite artists: Liberal Jane.

Till first blood… 🩸
As Pride month comes to an end as I try to figure out a posting schedule on this site I thought I’d share a character I’ve got labeled BBL as I haven’t thought of a name worthy of my boss bitch lesbian duelist. If you have any name suggestions please comment with them.
Generally speaking I’m pro realistic feminine armor however for this I was inspired by a historical duel where fair maidens dueled topless. Princess Pauline von Metternich and Countess Anastasia Kielmansegg dueled topless after Baroness Lubinska suggested it for sanitation reasons, having just returned from medical school. The ladies later denied it but, it’s one heck of a story.
Also was inspired by Rukis whom was working on a painting involving fencing garb at the time.

So last year I learned ace rings were a thing and also was reasonably angry with my situation and a lot going on in the world so I drew this punk werewolf chick flipping the bird with the asexual flag in the background with this analogue effect. I was offering this as a YCH and if there’s interest feel free to hit me up.
