Another spot I've walked and driven past too many times before finally stopping in. There is such a large selection at @frutajuicebar, it took me a while to decide. This chicken pesto panini was everything! Here's a little step by step of the breading process for the fried Mac and a Cheese balls from my story a few days ago. My mom made some Mac that she wasn't thrilled about so I took it off her hands to transform it. The panko made it super crunchy. My favorite dip was marinara (hotsauce and ketchup a close second). Yesterday, I got to #walkamileinhershoes with 1,300 other people through the streets of Fairfield, CT to raise awareness and show support for victims of sexual assault and domestic abuse. As the crowd gathered and grew, the streets were blocked and cars were forced to stop and look. The victims who are silenced and feel alone privately were being supported by fellow victims and allies publicly to be seen and bolster more support and awareness. Centers that help house and heal these women now have more funds to continue the important work they do. Men young and old showed solidarity and pledge to make active efforts to take a stand. More people are encouraged to say #meetoo and hopefully help less people have to. This was the cheesiest and most saucy pizza I have ever made. I started with the garlic herb pizza dough from @traderjoes and covered it with a traditional marinara and vegan mozzarella cheese. Did you know their fresh pizza doughs are also vegan? I then sauteed some garlic, onion, bell pepper, scotch bonnet and pancetta to cover the cheese. Lastly added sliced tomatoes and sundried tomatoes. I used the oil from the sundrieds to cover the crust so it was nice and crispy after it baked. When she came out, she got a couple of fresh basil leaves. I also fried a piece of dough and ate it carnival style. So I've never had an acai bowl. Not even really sure the right way to say it 😅 Ah-Sigh-Eee? Either way, I wanted to try making one. I bought some frozen packs from @traderjoes (and everything I used here pretty much) and blend one with frozen banana, mango, pineapple, strawberries and some coconut water. Basically everything in my freezer for smoothies. On top I used my favorite yogurt and oatmeal toppers. Chia seeds, granola, strawberries, shredded coconut, super ripe banana and the last of my blazeberries. I made a huge bowl and it filled me up! Everything about my experience at @thaikitrestaurant was exquisite! From the enticing smell when you first walk in to the incredible service to the multitude of delicious options that you can pair with your desired choice of meat or veggie/tofu. Luckily I had been craving duck curry and no doubt I was having them in noodle form. The veggie spring rolls and fried fish cakes were a tasty start. I'm not a huge raspberry person, but I don't mind these. They are lighter pink almost gold berry that doesn't have the tartness of a normal raspberry. They paired really nicely with some vanilla flavored coconut milk yogurt and strawberries. After a fun day at the @museumofsex and just missing the spa, we worked up an appetite and needed late night dinner before the ride back home. Thanks to @yelp, we found @niupot in Flushing, NY and we couldn't be happier. There were more Asian characters than English letters on every building. Same with the menu! We went with the Ying-yang pot: half oxtail broth, half 🔥🔥🔥spicy mala broth. A ton of various handmade balls, enoki mushrooms, squid, beef throat (took a risk trying this 😅), tons of add ins. The best part was the fish noodle you squeeze into the broth. Such a fun and tasty way to customize a meal. I'm super lucky that I can come home to a tasty hot meal after the gym. My boyfriend makes the best ackee and saltfish I've ever had. He boils the saltfish and the ackee then sautees them with fresh peppers and onions. It's typically served with boiled green banana. He also threw in some cassava (or yucca) and handmade dumplings which were boiled and fried. Growing up in Bridgeport, I've been lucky to be surrounded by many different cultural cuisines. You may have heard the term Bridgeport-oRico which hints at the large Puerto Rican and South American population and influence here. This particular restaurant isn't in Bridgeport, but slightly over the border in Stratford. I remember seeing @cibuslatinfusion popping up and then passing it a million times before finally going in and seeing what is all about. They offer a fusion of Latin cultural dishes with their own twist. I got the pernil which came with llapingachos which are fried potato cakes stuffed with cheese. There's also chicharron and beef ball and tostones and rice and beans and three different sauces. Heavenly. If you watched my insta story from #nationalramenday yesterday, you would have seen me tackle a spoon of this soup that was way too big but worth the struggle. The people over at Eat Noodle in Bridgeport have a small menu serving up big flavors. The broth was light and flavorful with all that seafood swimming amongst the noodles.
