Hi the game has been going around the fandom again and I was wondering if there are any updates :) the beta was so much fun

Hey! Okay so first off: sorry for the radio silence! It’s been a joy to see so many people still interested in this project and it’s my greatest shame that I haven’t been able to give y’all something finished and gorgeous after all this time!

Good news: after a mini marathon of episodes, the team is freshly inspired to get back to working on this project! My main focus will be getting a finished and playable project out and THEN offering an updated version with new art! The old art is fine but it’s been like 10 years and I’ve improved a lot lol but the focus will definitely be on finishing up the writing and play testing, so we can provide SOMETHING rather than making everyone wait another 10 years 😂

Thank you so so much for your patience and love for this project, and we are so dedicated to this fan space and series as a whole. We are looking forward to picking it all up again and showing everyone what our love for this show can produce! 💕

Thanks for letting me know! I think if you follow the instructions on this page, you'll probably be able to get it working! The second fix about Microsoft DirectX is probably the one that's going to work since it's worked for other people with the same error before!  

Hello! wanted to asked about this error preventing the game from starting up. I haven't deleted anything and have tried redownloading it. I barely downloaded the game. Hope y'all can help me, have a good day!

Hey guys, I just wanted to say that I am cheering you on if you are still working on this project -- making a game is no easy task!! And I also want to note that, if and when you finish, you will have made the first and only video game centered on the VB universe (I'm not counting poker night). I hope y'all are doing well and excited for the series finale coming soon!

Hey there! I know it's been 100 years since we've updated, but the project isn't cancelled haha I appreciate your appreciation for this game and we still want to finish it! Who knows? Maybe we'll do a rewatch soon and get inspired to write more. That's really all that's left: writing and proofing everything! To save time and just get this game out and playable, it'll still probably have all the old art and sprites. We'll probably do a patch later with updated stuff (Since the art is like 6 years old now?)

ANYWAYS: Thank you so much for still being interested in this project. It inspires us to get back to work!

So, i tried to open date university but it will not open. It keeps giving me an error and telling me that im either missing files/need to download the application.

Check out the FAQ. If you don't see a solution there, screenshot the error messages you get and I'll try to figure something out!

Hey,I don't know if this is still being worked on but just to say that I'm still rooting for this.I love what you guys did,even if it was just a demo!

Thank you for checking in on this project! I’m sorry there’s been such a looooong delay, but I can say that the project is definitely still ongoing. It’s just two people working on it, and I myself have a full time job, so the work is quite slow haha. But I’m confident we’ll have it finished and playable someday! The routes just need to be finished and polished, along with a couple more art pieces. Eventually I want to update the sprite art as well, but that’s something we’ll probably patch later, as getting the finished product out first is a priority. Thanks for sticking with us!

Just another update for ya’ll! I’m in the throes of writing, which I sadly can’t show you previews of in the same way I can show you of art. But trust me that it’s gonna be well-worth it for the surprises to stay surprises! That being said:

Werner’s route is officially finished being written. All 27 pages of it’s script. Done.

We’re celebrating the little victories here! XD I hope updates, even as tiny as this one, make you guys as excited as I am! It feels like real progress is happening once again. I’m gonna keep this ball rolling as long as it’ll take me!

An Update

Guess who’s been writing more for date university!!!!

These routes....are longer than I expected.... and also i write very slowly.... but at least i’m working on it again qwq

its been ages since i’ve touched this game since im busy like 99% of the time and the rest of the time I’m just BEAT YO so i hope i can keep working at this at a steady pace. I want to put out a really great product that everyone can enjoy! It’s basically just me and @tsukikoneko doing all the programming, art, and writing (5 routes gawdddd) and I’m really proud of what we have but I want to update all the sprites too but ansgkfadng thats two steps forward and one back and i’d REALLY like to be able to put this thing out there! The thing that’s taking the longest is writing and proof-reading the actual routes so if I can just kick some ass here and there in the writing department I think we’ll be in good shape.

Thanks to everybody who still checks up on us and this project. It’s purely a labor of love and we’ve been doing our best to work on it when we have a spare second. We love the Venture Bros and we know you do too!

Ahhh! Listen omg its been....9000 years since we’ve posted any updates. I know it seems like we’re never gonna post the full version but there ARE routes totally written out. Since its a side project it gets shelved every so often, but I’m so happy to see that you enjoyed the demo! I don’t have an actual release date for you unfortunately but I really really still want this to see the light of day. There’s a TON of work that’s already gone into it that we just haven’t been able to show yet (since its mostly writing haha) and since it’s been such a long time since we put out the demo, I want to update a bit of the art as well.Thanks so much for your kind words and hopefully I’ll have something to share with you! Sooner rather than later I hope! ^^ <3

idk if anyone has asked recently but are you still finishing this? and if you dont plan on finishing it, i think you should still maybe release what you have finished since? ive been thinking about this game constantly for 2 years and just wanted to say i love the concept a lot ever since i played it in 2015 and had a huge crush on dr venture

Yes we are still planning on finishing this! I know it’s been slow and we’re really sorry about that. Life just gets distracting and busy and all that! But we put a lot of hard work into it and 100% plan to finish and release it some day!

you probably won't answer this but i keep getting the error "the program can't start because fmod.dll is missing from your computer" and ive tried everything and nothing is working and im getting really frustrated.

Have you tried this from the FAQ? 

If you have and that doesn’t work here’s a video that claims to fix this issue! 

Let me know whether either of those things worked or not! 

I wish you weren’t on anon so I could make sure you see this ahhhh GOOD LUCK I HOPE YOU SEE THIS AND CAN FIX IT!

I just discovered that this exists and I need to play the full version, and I need to play it now! The demo is so, so rad. The Monarch and Rusty interaction was just perfect. I hope you will be able to release a full route soon. Or a chapter? I dunno! I'll play anything! You guys are awesome! <3 <3 <3

Thank you so much! It always motivates us a TON when people tell us they’re still excited for this! @heavensong is responsible for all the writing in the Demo (other than the typos that was me lol) and I’m sure she’d love the compliment on the Rusty/Monarch interactions! 

We’ve considered releasing a route on it’s own, but as of right now, we’re still planning to wait until the full version is totally done to release it! Thanks for your patience and support!
