The ringleader’s hand slid into the hat, and carefully plucked two strips of paper. He took his time, staying silent, letting the anticipation hover over the audience. Then, flattening the two folds of paper out on the lectern in front of him, his eyes raked the audience and he spoke out in a distinguished voice.
"The sacrifices for the second match are Flynn and Penny. Further information regarding the fight will be released later. In the interim, finish your preparations and any… sentimental business you may have.”
This arena is characterized by its unique flooring. Not dirt, not tile, not wood, but a bed of nails akin to the type occasionally used in the sideshows. There isn’t an inch of flooring that isn’t covered by them. How long will the contestants be able to stand the pressure before one of them falls, and the nails become the other’s advantage instead of hindrance?
OOC: Due to the need to get the fights in this event going, the match partner had to be shuffled. Lola’s name has been placed back into the hat and is eligible to be redrawn at another time.

The fight was spectacular and both parties put a brave fight, but in the end, there could be only one victor. Unfortunately for Merida, the victor this time was Leroy. Congratulations, you are one step closer to eternal glory and will be participating in future fights for the crown. For now, rest up, and await your next match.
The next fight will be drawn shortly. Video of the previous fight can be viewed below.
Note: The writing under the cut contains depictions of blood, death, strangulation, and violence. Please read with care.
MeridaDarkArrows: Merida took a deep breath as the door in front of her slid up and open. This was it. This was the fight that everone had been prepraring for for weeks now. She could hear the crowd roar, Scar was right. Peolpe loved the smell of blood, but in the crowd she knew her fellow carnies sat watching. And now all of them were as pleased as Scar was of the outcome. With one last deep breath she hefted the axe she had just had given to her not moments ago. A clunky and odd weapon that felt strange in her hands. Either way she held it like she knew what she was doing, and in a way she did. Held held high she walked into the arena, across the fighting grounds she saw the other door open to do the same for Leory. This was it, all thoughts of her friends were blocked out now, all feelings and wishes and wants. She let her anger be her focus, and her life be her goal “Okay Leory lad, lets do this.”
Meeganalakweesta: The high that was surging through Leroy’s veins was literally euphoric, he was positively bouncing on his feet from it. He hefted the chain whip in his hand, feeling the texture and the weight and the feel of it and it felt just as alive as he did. The only problem was it looked too pretty. Too clean. Too new. He’d fix that right up. He pushed away a person making last attempts at his hair, don’t touch his fuckin’ hair it was fuckin’ fine, and stood waiting for the go to go. And when it happened, he grinned, baring his teeth as he stepped out and strutted to the center where the red head was coming to meet him. He was excited that she had so much hair. All he had to do was grab it and she’d be done for real quick. Even if it was in a pony tail. Weak spot here, weak spot there, he had her. Ooh, but they had given her an axe. He hoped she knew how to use it. When he met her in the middle, he grinned at her. “Yeah, sure, alright.” He said, holding out his free hand to her. “I’ll try to go easy on you.” He lied.
MeridaDarkArrows: Merida couldn’t help but laugh a little, pacing around just out of that whips reachs, she knew that if he got her. She’d be down. He was bigger and stronger then her, and he had the extra arm length due to that damn whip. She had to draw him in, she knew abuot Leroy, little bits. She hoped it was enough. “No need to go easy lad.” she smriked. “Have ye seem my show? I do worse things then fight a strong man on a daily basis!” Jeer at him, make him lunge. She was faster, swifter, and she was going to use that as much as possible till she could disarm him.
Meeganalakweesta: He grinned at her charmingly, watching her dance out of reach of his whip. Smart girl. At least she knew that much, it would be so damn boring if it was going to be that easy to take her down. And reall,y he didn’t want it to be easy, he wanted to draw it out for as long as possible. Make her bleed, make her scream, make her suffer. “I have seen your show and you’re very good.” He said, as he tracked her with his eyes. “But that’s with a bow and arrow and if I’m not mistaken, that doesn’t look like a bow in your hands. Which is too bad cos that would have made this really fun.” He took a trial step towards her. “How about this? I give you a five second head start? Or better yet, you get one swing at me? That should make this more even for you.”
MeridaDarkArrows: The red head didn’t glance at the crowd, didn’t try and find her friends for one last goodbye perhaps. That would be her death wish. “As I said lad, no need for head starts.” but either way her grip on the axe tightened for just a moment as she swung it- it wasn’t the first time she had fought with an axe, but it still was vastly different to the swords she was used too. Letting go of the handle she let her axe fly at high speed towards leroy’s legs before sprinting around the area of the whips reach to get to the other side. If the lad dodges she would be picking up her axe again in moments, if it hit, she could get him from behind.
Meeganalakweesta: Interestingly enough, she wasn’t looking around like a frightened little mammal which made him morbidly proud of her but at the same time, he wanted to see her with eyes rolling and gasping for breath and bleeding and it would literally be so gorgeous people would talk about it for years. “There’s always needs for head starts, little red.” He laughed. “Head starts give you the advantage. Don’t you want that?” He saw her grip tighten on the axe and thought he had gotten what he wanted - when she threw it at him. Okay, he said free hit, not free throw, but he dodged he jumped it, having to tuck his legs right up into his chest to be sure he missed it. He kept his eyes on her when his feet hit the ground again. “Aww, red, c’mon now.” He left the axe where it was on the ground and walked after her. “That was a little dirty. I like it. Do it again.”
MeridaDarkArrows: Merida couldn’t help but laugh. “OH I see what Rox likes in you, you’re a bad boy~” she teased but silently cursed, the axe was just out of reach for her. She was with nothing to defend herself for now. Banter, banter until he came at her. “SO I gues you like it rough in bed too? You do sound like a fun time lad.” she jeered as he came closer. Get that whip away from him and she stood a chance. Just a little closer…
Meeganalakweesta: “Bad to the bone, baby.” He said, still stalking her. “What an astute guess. Do you wanna find out, Merida baby? I can make it real rough for you if you want.” He gripped the chain tighter and gave it an experimental flick.
MeridaDarkArrows: Merida tooka few side steps, she was in the chains reach now. She had no idea if Leory had figured that out or not. “Would love to lad, but yer taken by one of my best friends.” she winked. “Now. you gonna come at me or not?”
Meeganalakweesta: “There is such a thing as polyamory, red. And mistresses. And you’re not making it any fun for me if you just /tell/ me to come at you. Where’s the terror? The horror?” He flicked the chain again. “It’d be too easy and too quick if I got you now. Don’t get me wrong, I love to finger paint, but I don’t go straight for the red.” But he did feint a lunge at her, trying to run her out of the corner she was backng herself into so she could have more space. He wanted the goddamn chase dammit.
MeridaDarkArrows: Merida had stuided the way he held himself, held the chain. He was too confident, to *I’m the best* The crowd loved him that was for sure, their banter was nearly lost in their screams. But Merida was just where she wanted to be, back on the wall her Leory closing in. As he walked forward, pestering her about something about painting she slid a foot up the wall. To anyone else this would look like she was cringing. “Y-You’re right.” she tried to sound feeble, she was glad her clothes hid the fact her body was tensing up. “Asking you to lunge would be silly.” with that she pushed off the wall and ramed into him so hard she felt the ground connect with them both before she rammed her knee where it hurt and tired to fling the whip away.
Meeganalakweesta: He didn’t want the fight to be oveeeeeer. She looked like she was already giving in and that was just so damn boring he wanted to gouge his own eyeballs out. Maybe working blind would make this more fun. Shit, son, he thought this was supposed to be- she lunged for him and felt an awful as goddamn fuck shit motherfucker pain between his groin and motherfucker what a cunt. But a cunt that knew how to play and things just got more interesting. He let go of the whip which had been a mistake because he felt her going for it and no no no no. He rolled them over, to much whining and crying from his dick, and tried to throw her off. “It’s gotta be the red hair where you get all that spunk from, right? That was low. It’s a shame you’re gonna die because I could teach you so much.”
MeridaDarkArrows: The red head fought to stay on top, her legs locked around his waist to keep him pinned. He was strong and she knew she couldn’t hold out for long. But she had gotten that whip away and she needed that, but a few blows to him would help also. “I don’t need teachiing.” she hissed as she pulled her arm away from him and elbowed him hard in the face. “I’m Scottish!” she lashed out of him one more before rolling away and getting up as fast as she could. She considered whipping around and kicking him in the stomach but first she had to get to that whip. back on her feet again she started to sprint to where it had skidded off to.
Meeganalakweesta: See, he had used that same move before, the whole elbow to the face thing, and it had always been so satisfying to hear the crunch and see the blood. But when it was done to him, he didn’t like it so much. Shouting as white hot pain flooded through his face and blood blinded him, he thrashed and rolled the opposite way from her. But this was life or death and he knew that and though his chances were still good to win, or he thought so, he was not at all happy that his chances had dropped even just a little. So he got to his feet and only stumbled once as he chased after her, trying to see past the blood and grab her by her hair.
MeridaDarkArrows: Merida didn’t expect how fast he was once he was on his feet. She had a head start but his longer legs had carried him to her in even less of a time. Yet she got lucky and reached the whip moments before he did. Jumping and hitting the ground hard she felt the chain bite into her skin as she rolled over it, her hands grasping the handle before swinging to her feet, whip now in hand. “That all ye got lad?” she laughed, a cut from the whip where she had rolled just under her eye. “I had expected much better.”
Meeganalakweesta: Panting, he stared at her and licked the blood off his mouth. “You ain’t got shit on me.” He said. “Come on, red. Let’s do this.” He slid down and jerked his foot out to get her off her feet.
MeridaDarkArrows: The red head hit the ground hard and scrambled away as fast as she could, flicking the whip so it wrapped around his ankle before rolling with all the strength she had in her to hoepfully trip him up again. and keep him down for a moment
Meeganalakweesta: “Goddamnit!” He yelled as he fell. Snarling, he grabbed the chain and yanked it, hoping to at least get it out of her hands or to get her to come down with it. Close and personal and he’d fucking show her who the fuck she was messign with.
MeridaDarkArrows: Merida gave a yelp as the chain was yanked and she went stumbling towards Leroy. She tired to get her footing back but she always felt the dirt meet her face. With a groan she rolled over onto her back, for a moment confused of what was going on
Meeganalakweesta: And Leroy took that opportunity to get on top of her, pinning her down with all his weight in his hips. “Let’s see, how pretty you look with bruises and blood splattered, shall we?” He grinned, teeth stained red as he brought a fist back and slammed it into her jaw while he held her head down with one hand.
MeridaDarkArrows: The red head tried to scream but no sound came out- the pain in her jaw was too much and most likey had done a lot od damage. Best to avoid more of those. She tried to whip her legs around but he was just sitting a little too far back for her to get her legs in action. Instead using the face he was holding her head down and not her arms to her advantage she swung at him with a punch of her own while her other hand tried to claw at his eyes.
Meeganalakweesta: He laughed as he slammed his fist into her again, actually enjoying her struggling, scratching at his face. He was full blown high off the fight now, not a damn thing was going to stop him from winning it. And while he was at it, he was gonna do as much damage as he could. So he returned the favor of his nose to hers.
MeridaDarkArrows: this time a scream did come out of her mouth as she felt blood fill it fight away. That was not cool. "Didn't ya ma ever teach you." she grabbed the top of his arms with her hands in a death grip. "NOt to punch a lass?" With all her might she shoved to one side, her legs reaching up {Thank the gods for Lola's yoga} and tried to kick him in the back of the head to get him off.
Meeganalakweesta: He reared back and it felt like he had slipped off a very steep, very deep, edge. He bit so deep into his tongue that a well of hot blood flooded his mouth. "My-" she wrenched and kicked him in the back of his head which just made him angrier. He grabbed her by her shoulder and slammed her back on her back again with one hand at her throat. "My mother didn't teach me /nothing/ because she was never around." He said awfully soft. "Sorry, I didn't get to learn good little lessons like that." He slammed another hand at her throat and pressed deep, digging his fingers into the white skin.
MeridaDarkArrows: The red heads' eyes went wide as she felt his nails dig into her neck she could feel them breaking skin, she could feel his anger and the face he was so big, so strong she would never get him to budge off her. Merida had known that if he pinned her she was done for and she had let him do just that. She scrambled at the hands on her throat and with one last effort loosened one and bit down as hard as she could, feeling frail bones snap and not her blood fill her mouth. Yuck.
Meeganalakweesta: Roaring, jerked his hand out of her mouth, ripping skin away and smacking her as hard as he could across the face with it. And then he pressed his weight into his hand still latched around her throat and willed her to fucking die.
MeridaDarkArrows: Merida didn't want to look at the crowd, seeing their jeering faces. "Y-Ya know." She got out. "When I get choaked I normaly have a safe word." she looked him dead in the eyes, not scared to look her death in the face. She felt the black closing in on her as her breath was taken away. Then her eyes rolled and she went limp, the blackness taking her.
Meeganalakweesta: Her words made him laugh, splattering her in red and the force of it. And he laughed and laughed and laughed as he pressed and pressed and pressed until she was blue and went limp. And then he stood as the cannon went off wiped the blood from his face, though it didn't do much more than smear it worse, to the roaring of the crowd. Ignoring it, he turned and went back the way he had come through, feeling numb and and fucking uncaring.

Because of time restraints, we’re going to be switching up the first fight match I.E: the two people going against each other.
Remember that you have 48 hours to decide who the victor is going to be. We don’t care how you get to the end as long as you’re fair and no godmodding. 24 hours after noticing the main of the victor is how long the two players have to tell us when you will be online at the same time to fight.
Look out for the new tributes very soon!

Hey everyone! Just popping in with an update about the event-- we've decided to set a cap at two days for discussing fights with your partners and deciding who's the victor. This is to prevent this event from getting off a timeline.
Should a conclusion not be reached within this time, we'll be posting a poll asking the players to decide who they feel would be the victor. With this poll, we ask that people please not vote out of bias towards relationships you may have towards the characters in question, but out of who you feel has the ability to win the fight, whether by strength or wits. Also note that at any time you can let us know that you don't want your character to die. If they're not the victor, this won't change that, but it will simply keep your character from being killed. The mods will also not be participating in voting, so this is all up to you!
Here is a poll for the voting of the victor of match one! If the players of the sacrifices of this match don't get back to us within twenty-four hours (by midnight on June 23rd, Central Time), the victor will default to the poll result. The match will start as soon as both players tell us when they can next be available to be online at the same time.

OOC Note: Hey everyone! Just a reminder to make sure to send in your allegiances, as they're necessary for this event! We're going to ask that players with more than one character only have one dissenter for reasons described in the linked post, unless your character is strongly known for being rebellious. Thank you for your cooperation!

The games have been going on for four years. Some of the carnies joined before they started, and were already contracted into them by the time they realized what was happening. Some came seeking fame and glory. Some were brought unwillingly. But no matter how you came to the games, you're in them. But how many of the carnies support the games?
OOC Note: This post will be a list of where everyone's characters' allegiances lie. Keep in mind that Scar uses tactics to influence his carnies' opinions, so many of the carnies will be support of the games because they've been glorified into something amazing, rather like gladiator games. Choose carefully which of your characters feel rebellious about them. Send in their allegiances in via the event main's inbox. These allegiances aren't known ICly, this is just for documentation purposes.
