The most used argument as to why Mike and Nancy can’t say “I love you” is because their parents have a loveless marriage.

So we agree, their parents don’t express love because they don’t love each other. If you agree, and I agree, then isn’t it interesting that there are parallels to their parents (that we agree don’t love each other) that happen between Mike/El and Nancy/Steve?
