Season 2 Episode 2 -> Steve and Nancy go together to a place where teenagers have fun and pretend to be '' stupid teenagers in love'', pretend that everything is okay... Nancy loses control of herself and ends up with her dress being stained, their relationship is put to the test and after the incident they have a fight about saying '' I love you'' to each other and if one of them means it or not... they get separated until the end of the season but we find out that Nancy doesn't love Steve, she only likes him, she spends the rest of her time with someone that is secretly in love with her (Jonathan)... eventually we find out that Steve was idealizing Nancy and after years he still thinks she's the one for him even if they have very different ideas about their ideal life in the future. We know for a fact that Steve felt/feels dumb compared to Nancy aka he's putting her on a pedestal in a way...

Season 4 Episode 2 -> Mike and El go together to a place where teenagers have fun and they are pretending that everything is okay between them, they are being ''stupid teenagers in love'' and having fun... everytime someone says, no matter if they're a mileven or a byler, "it's just a ship, we don't have to fight over it" my whole brain just explodes. no, it's actually not just a ship. do you know many gay movies and series are out there, that have queer people, that are not explicitly about queer people? i don't know any. and you're gonna go now "oh, but there's heartstopper, and call me by your name and other stuff" but with these there is from the beginning on clear that there are gonna be queer characters. they're romantic series and movies, if you watch these, you're watching for queer people falling in love. i've never in my whole life seen a sci-fi movie with queer people. i've never seen a thriller with queer people. i've never seen an action movie with queer people. so, it's not "just a ship". if they're canon, it's gonna be big and important

A disorganized byler rant that I CANNOT keep in for the life of me, triple realizing how much byler has actually been set up.

To anyone having any byler doubt as you’re reading this, I’m gonna need you to rewatch the ending of season 3 and then back to back, watch that airport reunion. it’s SO telling honestly it’s insane.

(I’m also going to be explaining how each season is advocating a byler endgame.)

I want to point out something else I noticed, we all can agree that heroes is a very ‘will Byers’ song , and it plays twice. Once when Mike hugged his mom after he thought will drowned in the lake(1-03) and the second time on full volume when Joyce was standing in an empty house, reminiscing on the memories in there before taking that step back(2-08).

In season 1 when Mike hugs his mom for comfort, to finally let out the tears he’d been trying to keep in(and failed, confirmed by Finn talking about the deleted scene) during the bike ride home, we all know about the “and we kissed, as though nothing could fall. And the shame…-“

In season 3 when Joyce is looking at her house one last time, heroes is playing, but very specifically cuts the part that was starred during mikes hug with Karen “and we kissed,(etc)” and instead plays “and we can be heroes-just for one day.”

I will die on this hill when I say that this specific part of heroes at the very end is reserved for Mike and will ONLY. And I think this observation could’ve been easily debunked if the production just decided to use a different part of heroes, but they used that same 15 seconds of the song. This can be because the scene in season 3 is reflected off the Byers, their house but not quite will himself, hence why that specific part of the song was cut out. “We’re on the right track.. but..”

Another thing I want to talk about is how much I never actually realized the gravity of how much they set byler up since the beginning.

I always thought season 2 was the most telling season for byler and their relationship, but season 1 Mike is SET on finding will, the entire season revolves around him being dedicated to will. Of course, a lot of characters are focused on finding will since that’s the entire plot. However, out of all the core boys and include el, when wills fake body was found Mike blew up in els face, “what’s wrong with you?!? WHAT is WRONG with you??” And while waiting for a response, snapped his head back and forth in a baffled, sassed way.

There’s so many other examples of him snapping at el when it revolves around will, like when he’s caressing wills drawings, or even when el ends up pushing Lucas against the busted up car and mike does that famous repeating line thing which is a direct contrast to the piggyback monologue saying he was ‘never scared’ of her and loved her on her bad days. Liar liar pants on fire…😐

I’m now thinking of how people’s arguement for milkvan is “they’re a foundational relationship, the main relationship of the show” and I strongly disagree?

The relationship arcs, and their plot blocking:

the entirety of s1 (if we focus on mike, will and el) is, again, mikes determination to find will and bring him back.

When he hears will on the walkie, he doesn’t give up on him and talks to him on the walkie shortly after, even getting the whole party to listen and using the school radio thing Mr Clarke brought in. This is remarkably similar to how Mike had hope el was still somewhere(season 2), talking to the walkie everyday. (This also reveals a lot about mikes character as a whole, the heart of the party 🥹❤️) Mike would 100% do the same for will, and showed that.

In season 2, el is separated from the party and we get a very byler centered season, obviously putting on display the close bond Mike and will have had since they became friends. It’s essentially a montage explaining the closeness of the two since season 1 clearly singled Mike and will out from the rest of the group in terms of bonds.

In season 3, we get Mike and el making out all the time throughout episode 1, which gives me absolutely no byler doubt by the way since people have pointed out the music choices and obvious body language that leaves you like “🤨…” Mike ends up lying to el despite teaching her “friends don’t lie” and her saying it to Mike during the phone call solidifies the importance of the saying. The breakup scene being a comedic relief in terms of cinematic choices and music choices. Mike looking disgusted, instead of sad. Their entire relationship destroying surrounding friend relationships, especially with will and Mike.

⬆️ el gets a second ‘independance arc’ like the lost sister episode, this time shortened but clearly the point gets across to the audience. There’s more to life than stupid boys. And we get to see el as just herself, what she likes to wear, what she’s interested in.

Season 4 is painfully obvious, showcases the constant lie both Mike and el put on for eachother. Mike dresses completely different to try and fit in for el, el pretends she’s thriving in high school afraid Mike will look at her differently. Mike not being able to say ‘I love you’ even though el directly tells him that she wants him to say it. Him being pushed to say it in order to help el save the world once again, only this time there’s no intimate moment that SHOULD be called for a “true love saves the world trope”, will is unblurred in the background for specific parts of the monologue, els vines tighten. She ends up losing.

⬆️ byler being at its peak (Noah quote) in season 4, wills confirmation for his love towards mike(further proved to be in love with him since season 2, HELLO) Mike and wills conversations being a direct contrast to el and mikes arguement, proving a “compatibility/understanding” theme. So much other Byler shit people have noticed that has been covered over and over again.

Season 5, we know Mike and will spend the most time together, actors starting filming a month before the other cast members, Noah’s favorite scene with Finn is in season 5, “you could never really tell if it was something romantic or just a really special friendship,” said by Noah in a 2024 panel with Cara. In the same clip, Noah starts to say “you begin to realise that will does have-..”“am I allowed to say this..?”. Why shouldn’t you be allowed to say it Noah? It’s been 2 years since season 4 came out and wills feelings were confirmed by YOU, what else is there to tell, to hide?…considering he’s already read the scripts by this time, we all know what it is

Not to mention the entire message of stranger things—Love Overpowers Hate. And knowing will is getting powers and needs to fight off a lot of things in this finale, what else would push him other than his childhood best friend that he loves, and has stayed loving for years.

So tell me, is milkvan REALLY… the main couple? Not Lucas and max, Jonathan and Nancy, or Joyce and hopper? The three main couples that show healthy behaviors that happen when two people are in a mutual romantic love?

I’ve been knew byler is endgame, but rewatching the scenes I’ve mentioned in this rant truly made my jaw drop which I couldn’t believe was possible watching media thats been up for years, but the way they’ve set up Mike and will vs Mike and el is SO undeniable.

I hope someone has stuck until the end of this, and if it cured anyone’s doubt I’m so glad, because the entire point of this rant was to give a slap on the face to wake people up, it’s always been there

Okay so I know this information is not new, but I was thinking about this image being a thumbnail for ep. 3 on IMDB. So, Mike’s hair is wet not bc of the lover’s lake. The only solid proof for the gate we had is the fact that Noah liked the tiktok about it (correct me if I’m wrong), but the tiktok had this exact shot. Mike’s hair must be wet bc of the pipeline’s leak (?), as there was smt about it in the Maya’s script.

I’m sure there are some water scenes in ep. 5, but now I’m not so convinced it has to with byler. What do you guys think? Did I miss something?

at the risk of sounding overconfident and arrogant i think so many of you have so much byler doubt because you're forgetting or you don't truly get why it has to be in the first place. rewatch the show. this wasn't like 6 years of pure shippy wishful thinking this was seeing something that looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck and saying well. maybe it is a duck. and it is a duck. you know it is a duck. if s5 comes out and they tell us no actually it was a goose this whole time we say no it was not. they made the "goose" quack like a duck. they knew what they were doing. and you better not let anyone tell you no actually the goose looked like a goose and swam like a goose and honked like a goose you were crazy because you think every bird is a duck you tell them to fuck off. its either endgame or the stupidest writing decision in modern tv and just queerbait. don't let anyone tell you it doesn't exist or that it doesn't happen anymore because there would be no other name for it.

I just came across a post on pinterest that Will is going to be Vecna’d in season 5, like it’s no surprise, we know he will. Imagine Vecna saying things like «Mike doesn’t love you, you’re a mistake, you will never be loved» etc. And then Will gets rejected and Vecna is right? Seems impossible to me.
