Foreshadowing
Foreshadowing, though not the most important element in the story, helps craft a story (imo). It helps structure a story, set a tone and add little, subtle surprises in for the readers.
1) Add a pre-scene
Pre-scenes usually foreshadow a later plot event by mimicry.
- Example: A boy reads a story about dragons to his friends, a few scenes later the friends fight a literal dragon.
2) Irregular description
You, the author, chose to describe things that won't usually be examined. This can be something like Harry's scar in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone. The scar indicated a mystery of the past, since scar's aren't usually described in great detail, and narrows the reader's focus on what you want them to see. The scar also foreshadows Harry's future in the coming books
3) Symbolism
This can be as prominent or subtle as you'd like. This could include prophecies with different symbols and metaphors that hide the complete truth. This can be seen in Macbeth by Shakespeare. The witches bring forth a prophecy that deems Macbeth to be king and Banquo's children to be heir to the throne (misleading Macbeth to commit a crime), which was in fact proven true at the end. Any form of symbolism put forward through speech, or directly through artifacts could prove to be helpful.
4) Other ways
The most obvious one could be a character saying a particular phrase like if only the ocean turned to sand and the action taking place moments later. This allows the reader to feel as if the next action is unexpected, but still get hints if they look closely. Add a shift in the tone, this might make the character either feel prominent or distant, but acts as an excellent tool for foreshadowing. Anything that might hint on future events, even effortlessly, is a perfect form of foreshadowing.

Writing OCs
When I first started writing, I wrote this perfect OC that had no flaws. That character was just....unrelatable. So, here are some things I learned that might help :)
1) Give them vulnerability
It can be a physical or emotional. Everyone has a vulnerability, something that claws at them day and night. Maybe it is something like the OC having the need to be a perfectionist due to an underlying incident. Anything that makes them seem 'human'. It doesn't necessarily have to be relatable, just real.
2) Problems faced in the real world
Make sure to give your characters some problems one might face in the real world. This could be minor or major problems, depending on your world. Minor problems could include things like wearing socks that don't match, and getting called out by his/her/their crush for it. Major problems could be getting fired. Anything that makes the reader feel as if they can relate to the character, while keeping your own fantasy world in mind.
3) Give them an internal monologue
Show the readers their personality. There is this saying I've heard alot: "Show, not tell." By giving the reader an internal monologue, you are able to better present the vulnerability, give the character dimension, and (if in first person, specifically) drive the story forward.
4) Have fun
This probably weird, but have fun creating your character. Refer to a million muses and people who inspire you. This is your character, part of your story. You choose how to shape the character and what personalities you add to them. Be you, make them yours. You are awesome, and got this.

Multilingualism in Characters
Multilingualism is quite rare in characters, as far as I have seen, and is usually (again as much as I have seen it) inaccurate. Here are some ways you can make your multilinguistic characters more realistic:
1. Give them a reason to know more than one language
If there is no reason for the character to learn a language, it may be assumed they were born with it, which is not true. Language is a nurture thing, not a nature one. Some examples of reasons could include: an individual learning a language for the sake of enjoying it, being forced to learn because of school, having a different first language and then learning English (because of mainstreamism)
2. Find out the different ways languages can be learned wherever the character is situated
If a character is part of a world with no accessibility to technology (it being per say a different time period) give them a way to learn the language. If they are in the modern world, find ways that their personality and character is learning a language (because everyone learns differently). For example: I use Duolingo, Babble and textbooks to get even a little bit of language learning done in a week because my school course load is a lot.
3. Find out the do's and don'ts of a language
By finding out the things a person says, or does based on a specific language, you may be able to give your character more personality and allow to really showcase that language is more than what is spoken, it is entirely a culture that one chooses to scratch the surface of.
I think that is all. Feel free to add more if you'd like. Thank you soo much for taking the time out of your day to read this :)
Have a great day/evening/night! Au revoir.

Broken Things, a bundle of emotions
Celeste walked home with tears running down her eyes. Her face showed no pain and her eyes held anger as a child held memories. Her hands clutched a white lity. Her own sign of sadness. As the petals fell off the lily, so did her layers. Celeste trusted one, and kept trusting another. She learned of the talks behind her back and rumors. She hoped it was just one person and another that wasn't right. She cut her personality and put her childhood in a grave. She over thought and indulged in academia. Walking home was normal. Crying was normal. Celeste cried under the covers, where she thought no one heard. They heard. Her childhood heard from the grave. Her thoughts coddled her mind. At present time, she held onto the flower as her mind held onto whatever was left of Celeste. The sky cried for her, mourned her past, but enveloped her in warmth. As the rain numbed her skin and rained down her back, Celeste let her anger go. She felt the rain slither down her back, and another down her face. Celeste seeked out shelter but found herself walking. She rubbed her face over and over, yet they were still soiled with tears. Slowly making her way forward, the clinking of her heels following, Celeste dragged herself anywhere but home. As the day changes, so do plans. Celeste slopped onto a bench in the park. The rain thundered overhead land she let her tears follow their rhythm. She felt the rain stop and an umbrella loomed overhead. Protection. She looked at the holder of this protection and saw or blank face. Nothing beyond the hand, the clothes and the hair. The world had been filled with it recently. Her art contained it just as her world, a muse. One can never know what is hidden behind the mask. The mask seen at first is never true. It is protection to some, bait for others. The face scooted closer. It was familiar, it felt like home. Perhaps Celeste did walk home after all. She looked up and saw a crack form in the face. Looking away, back towards her feet, Celeste tried to find a way out. Away to escape this misery. Playing with her fingers, Celeste thought of when she was happier. She couldn't think of anything, Not. A. Single. Thing. Nothing had made her laugh in the past days. Nothing had brought her joy. Perhaps she had become one of the broken things. One of the many broken things this world loves to collect.

Due Date, a poem by my burned-out brain
Procrastinating on a Friday evening
Spending all my time cleaning
Holding onto fears in despair
If only I can reach out and breathe some air
Worrying about what one’s thinking
Stuck in this land of overthinking
Perfection is what I crave
But it doesn’t make me brave
Here I lay, under the gray sky
Holding back yet another sigh
When will I learn to stop
Instead of forcing myself to the top
So, I get back to the computer screen
Being held together by caffeine
I start typing with whatever’s left in me
A few words away from being free
This due date haunts all who wish to succeed
Especially since it is their need
Junior year doesn’t make it easier
It just makes everyone queasier
Why is this deadline such as haste
Something that never stops the chase
Senior year might be worse
It may as well be a curse
I hope I stop procrastinating
Maybe next time I’ll have more time for ice skating
Please let there be no more hope for perfection
Since I am bathing in this exhaustion
Why, oh why, should there be due dates
When no one is in the right mental state.

Just Some Thoughts
I honestly don't know what content needs to be posted on writing blogs/accounts so I'm just going to do me. I think of this as a journal of sorts. I just feel overwhelmed I guess. Life has been so busy lately, that maybe some unwinding is necessary. Today, being the day after Christmas, might give some the perfect opportunity to do this. Be it taking the time to finally bake that cake, or catch up on that sleep. Anything that makes you feel relaxed and content with yourself will do. But be sure to do it for fun, and enjoy the task. Writing maybe relaxing to some, so go do it. Just remember to be you and have a great whatever's left of 2021. This may help start off 2022 on the right foot (as I think lol). Anyway, I'm going to stop bugging ya'll. Have a great day/evening/night :)

Just A 7am-Christmas-Poem
Here we stand, on Christmas Day
Holding onto our past year
The year that we now survey
Holding onto whatever seemed dear
But now we come near the end
The end of another day
With so many other friends
And memories that stay
Relaxing and reflecting is all
Something many might need
For this is when we call
To mend some bonds, some to weed
But remember it is time of hope
Hope that the next year might prevail
Over the sorrows this one brought
Be sure to thank those that have been with you all of this year and have a wonderful Christmas 😁

Quote Prompts
Whenever I sorta get stuck, I just like skim through quotes. They have some pretty good prompts hidden within so umm ya. Also, these just happened to be the quotes that got me though the first few words of my WIP lol. Here are some of my favourite ones:
1. "I used to build dream about you" F.Scott Fitzgerald
2. "Hell is empty and all the devils are here" William Shakespeare
3. "I love you at your darkest" Romans 5:8
4. "I resist everything except temptation" Oscar Wilde
5. "With freedom, books, flowers, and the moon, who could not be happy?" Oscar Wilde
6. "What is beautiful is good, and who is good will soon be beautiful" Sappho
7. "Carpe diem. Seize the day!" (I just found this on Pinterest, I don't know who said/wrote it ;-;)
8. "boothi kya baal calane gayi thi (rough translation: did your knowledge go to plow the field)" Hindi proverb
9. "We drink the poison our minds pour for us and wonder why we feel so sick." Atticus
10. "Veni. Vidi. Amavi. We came, We saw, We loved."
11. "Our love was made for movie screens" Kodaline
12. "We were kissed by poems, taken away by seas of prose." Rudy Vitkauskas
13. "There seemed to be something so tragic is a friendship so coloured by romance" Oscar Wilde
14. "My existence is a scandal" Oscar Wilde
I aspire to be the last quote lol. But ya, that is all I have at the moment. I hope you enjoyed this post. Again, thank you soo much for taking the time out of your day to read this :)

Questionable Tropes (according to me)
These are my own personal opinions. Obviously, everyone is entitled to agree, disagree and place their own opinions forward. But here I go:
1. The immortal and teenager being soulmates
2. love triangles (unless done with a certain *chef's kiss*)
3. Trauma suddenly disappearing after MC falls in love
4. Perfect characters (i'm sorry but they just aren't relatable ;-;)
5. Forced romances, without any chemistry (it just seems too...bland I suppose. It just not it for me)
6. The Chosen One, with nurture skills told as nature (i.e., being born with the ability to swordfight -- I doubt that can actually happen)
7. Vague prophecies (unless its done really well and fits in with the theme of the story)
8. Weak magic systems (systems with no limitations known)
9. 'Girl has powers, falls in love with love interest and turn out to be SIBLINGS' (it's just....gross in my opinion)
10. Making abuse look normal (this is a big one cuz in a few YA books, abuse caused due to main love interest is waived off as normal since they are soulmates.....just no)
I've honestly forgotten what else I just....distaste I guess. I might make a part two idk. But ya. Have a great day!

Hey!
Hello! I am new around here and am honestly trying out writing. I currently feeling very confused about everything and procrastinating on writing yet another book, that I may or may not leave in between (may my wip write itself ;-;). I am just trying to figure out the best way to write my book and hoping to share any struggles I had, to make someone's life out there easier. Thorough this account I hope to discover my own writing style and maybe some of myself (though a lot of failure, which I really need to get used to.)
Anyway, a bit about me before I go on and ramble. Um, I like to read like a lot. I'm taking one book a day on a light load work day. I have read the SOC (six of crows, for those who are unaware) duology a million times and am hoping to get to The Violent Delights by this weekend! I love to ice skate, roller skate, just skate. I stress bake anything and everything. I have tried to draw, paint and do a whole bunch of other things (spoiler alert: I crashed in all cases and burned). Well, I think that is it, unless my taste in music is inspiring enough.
I might not be able to post regularly, and honestly this is a blog (i doubt anyone cares) but, umm ya. I hope to learn something though..whatever I am doing (I honestly have no idea, impulsive decisions?) and am really thankful that you'll took some time out of your day to read this UwU.
