idc there is no concept funnier than “will comes out to el but she literally doesn’t know what homophobia is.” all i can picture is will, sobbing breaking down, saying, “you don’t get it, el- i’m not normal! i like boys!” and they just sit there in complete silence for an entire minute before el goes, “okay? so do i? why are you crying, will? is it because boys are annoying and gross? i understand. sometimes i do not like that i like them either.” and will is actually so shocked that he stops crying and starts laughing instead

el being will’s biggest supporter. el buying anything rainbow colored she can find, presenting it to will, and going, “will, i bought you these rainbow-colored things. i read a book at the library that said rainbow is the color of gay pride.” el pointing out boys to will in magazines, movies, and at school and asking if they’re cute. el catching on to the fact that will only says boys with black hair and brown eyes are cute and realizing that will likes mike. el shushing will when he finally admits this to her even though she’d realized it ages ago and telling him that it’s okay, she isn’t mad, he’s her brother and no stupid boy is more important than that.

el, after breaking up with mike, trying to help will date him. el urging him on excitedly in the background every time he talks to mike, giving him a huge smile and a big thumbs up. el saying, “mike is very stupid, will, but i am pretty sure that he likes you too.” el screeching and full-body tackling will when he tells her that mike finally asked him on a date. el recruiting max to help dress him up for the date, leading to el AND max becoming will’s biggest cheerleaders. max taking will being gay in stride just like el, her only commentary being, “the only unfortunate part…is that you like mike wheeler.”

+ bonus: will being el’s biggest supporter when she eventually comes out as a lesbian. will almost crying in happiness when el says, “i think i am like you…but with girls.” will buying el any lesbian-colored things he can find. will cheering and clapping and screaming when el eventually tells him that she’s dating max.

will byers ending up with a lesbian defense squad. :)

i need more codependent steve and robin.

steve and robin sitting on each other’s laps during movie night, sharing a thing of popcorn between the two of them

constantly holding each other’s hands while joking around with each other. robin will be endlessly making fun of steve all the while she is holding his hand in her own and refuses to separate.

steve complaining that he can’t get a date and doesn’t understand why, meanwhile robin is sitting on the counter at family video behind him, playing with his hair.

whenever they are saying goodbye they kiss each other on the cheek and say “i love you.”

they have a “date night” every week where they go to a diner and get food and share a milkshake.

eddie and nancy think they have absolutely no chance with steve and robin, respectively, because the two of them are clearly dating. when robin comes out to them their entire world feels like it flips on its head.

steve and robin being each other’s unintentional beard. they didn’t mean for it at first but everyone just assumed they were dating already so they stopped correcting people, letting them think what they want. (it makes robin’s relationship with nancy and steve’s with eddie comically easy to hide. no one looks twice when they are with them bc steve and robin are clearly together)

teotfw just feels so raw. like they have great music choices and such but in the serious, awkward moments it’s like real life- awkward silences, clearing your throats, breathing hard, etc. it’s so wonderfully done

james and alyssa feel so relatable even though i haven’t ran away from home, stabbed a rapist, threatened a cashier, picked up a murderous hitch hiker, talked to a motel owner a few minutes before he was murdered, worn a wedding dress for 2 days straight, stalked a stalker for my gf, should i continue???

i feel like mike’s monologue wasn’t actually that bad. i mean yes, it wasn’t perfect and it felt kinda forced but i think he said some of the right things. el wasn’t in need of a “you have a beautiful personality” or “the way you smile is so cute” or that crap. she needed a pep talk to fight. she needed someone she loved to tell her she can do whatever she wants because she is that powerful. mike saying she’s not a monster is something she now knows but the reminder that no one she loves sees her that way is what she needed to hear. look, i’m a byler shipper but that monologue shouldn’t get as much hate as it does.

honestly the funniest thing ST could do is if ted wheeler thought mike was dating will all along. and like, just didn't care. like usual. no, actually the funniest thing would be is if he were the one to say the title drop in reference to this. karen would ask him if he was ok about mike and will dating or if he was mad or whatever, and:

"eh. stranger things have happened in this town." then he'd just go back to watching his tv.
