Secret
I'm not used to keeping secrets.
None of my own, certainly.
The weight feels unfamiliar
And though it's just one, I am aware of its presence every single day.
I feel it incubating within me;
Forming,
Developing,
Waiting to be let out.
My morning sickness comes in the evening when I am alone with myself
I think,
I could get rid of it
But I don't know if that would make me feel better or worse
And it's nigh on impossible to kill an idea -
Part of myself.
Part of myself.
When did you take such a hold in my subconscious?
How did we become so intertwined?
I don't know where our journey ends
And I don't know the way
But until then
I will carry you with me

how many times has a story never come to fruition for you? and do you ever become discouraged by not finishing these projects?
Things mostly get completed when the time is right. Sometimes it takes decades. I'm used to it. And so I'm never discouraged when something doesn't get finished immediately.

I don’t know what writer needs to hear this
but you can write something very plain.
You don’t have to write some genre-redefining masterpiece. You can write a story about two people very simply falling in love. You can just write a story about a person going to the store. You could, if you were so inclined, just re-write Star Wars but like, make all the names start with M.
Don’t let the fear of not-writing something transcendent stop you from just writing.

Trapped
The feeling sweeps through her
The wave unrelenting
Sucked under its current, she feels it prickle over her body
Drenched in cold sweat
The realisation,
Clutching the bathroom sink,
Finally and fully engulfs her
The End.
The only certainty.
The only thing we all share.
She stares into the abyss opening below her
No
It was always there
Hypnotised by it
She swears it stares back

forgive yourself. forgive yourself for all the versions you couldn't become. forgive yourself for the wrong things you said. forgive yourself for not knowing any better at certain point of your life. for fucking things up so much that the grief still haunts you. forgive yourself for the darker and shadowed parts of you. you have to learn to integrate all parts of you, even the ones you desperately want to disown. it'll be alright.

#PardyPrompt #4 - August 26-31, 2022
Trapped in the Cycle
To be stuck in a repetitive situation.
What’s a #PardyPrompt? Once a week I’ll post a word, phrase, or concept that anyone can write for! Be sure to use the tag #PardyPrompt within the first 5 tags to be sure it gets seen! I will reblog some of my favourites each week.

Stop censoring yourself ❌
I see this a lot in writing.
You just wanna write something, but then...the idea seems a little crazy. Or you're as afraid to use swear words. Afraid to be yourself because people could find that weird.
STOP IT RIGHT NOW.
I was afraid of my own style of writing, because it's very weird, surrealistic, and shows too much emotion.
But then I decided to stop thinking like this and write a story completely in my own style.
And it was awesome.
You shouldn't be afraid of the way you're thinking and sometimes put your dark side into your stories. Trust me: it has potential.

Is the story circulating tumblr about how "Coraline," got published - what with the publisher's eight year old daughter, Morgan, and all - actually true? (Btw, I love your books and read Coraline as an eight year old as well. I loved it! Terrifying, definitely, but also one of the best books I've ever read)
This is from the Horn Book,
