My sleep deprived ass decided to work on my wendigo based warframe (am Native American don’t yell at me)

Some details and art forms I based them of off-
- Effigy mounds: they are the lil swirlies marked into their carapace
- Importance of long hair and braids in our culture
- Heat marking: it is said that the wendigo can only be killed if one melts its cold, frozen heart, therefore this frame’s element is cold/toxin
- Steer skull based alt helm: many natives worked as cattle ranchers once settlers started moving out west, their land would be turned into grazing fields for the invasive cattle and was one of the people’s only chance at profit other than the fur trade.
Will update as I go~

And DE strikes again with the mythology and name meanings. I suppose they have to keep to the theme they set up? Either way I love the subtle story telling and hints to the characters personalities or quirks.
Let's start with Rusalka's adoptive mother Minerva- they named this woman after the literal roman Goddess of wisdom and war. She seems to very much embody her namesake, analytical, cunning, strong willed, driven, (some of her personality flaws are also apparent right off the bat too) Correct me if im wrong here but from what I've seen on stream Minerva was more than just Neci's mother figure she was also her mentor - along side Velimir- and from what little we've seen so far of our new Saryn protoframe, Neci personality wise at least seems to take more after her than her father figure Velimir.
Speaking of Velimir (and no I will not go off the rails and talk about how everyone on that couch and in the chat is chronically dehydrated for our Frost protoframe) His name means great leader or one who wishes for great peace. He appears to be the more friendly of the couple, I'm under no illusions though while he's seemingly more personable, laid back and compassionate, he's just as dangerous (maybe more so)- observant, driven and stubborn as his wife. They appear to have complete opposite but no less effective MO's and leadership styles
I can't wait to do their arc and learn more about them both as individuals and a couple. (And how DE plans to resolve Rusalka's storyline) Their presence makes for some complicated and nuanced story lines as well as potential conflicts of interest between them (again individually and as a couple) , The Drifter and The Hex.

I saw a comment on Reddit along the lines of "Amir yaps too much during Scaldra Hellscrubber" and well that's a skill issue on your part random Reddit user. Maybe you should do a better job with the objective. Me? I edge the Hellscrubbers on purpose and let my life support get low SPECIFICALLY to hear Amir's yapping. We are not the same.

Okay, are we entirely sure Albrecht didn't use some form of Cavia protocol on Kalymos? She doesn't talk but she is far too intelligent for a normal kavat.
We know from Loid something happened to Kalymos, she suddenly got super sick and then poof! like nothing ever happened, she got better again and became more than she was.
Even Loid himself doesn't know if that is the original Kalymos or if she's a modified clone of her. Still the fact that it's brought up leads me to believe she is a clone. Otherwise, why mention it at all?
It still doesn't explain what happened in the first place though. Animals don't spontaneously get sick and not in the way Loid is implying she was. So did Albrecht use her as a sort of test run to see if the Cavia plan was viable? See if she could travel in the void with him? Void exposure would certainly explain a few things. Kalymos isn't like any kavat in existence, she appears to have some very interesting powers. She transcends space and time and hops around the void with Albrecht. So that also begs the question why is she here? Why did she stay in 1999 and not run with Albrecht.

Even the hundreds of years old space gays have to assimilate their sass to the relevant time for the greatest impact
ok but "not my type" was so fucking funny for Entrati to say. who taught him that. proof that you cannot expose gay men to the 90s without them spontaneously realigning via molecular polymorph into a Will and Grace extra.

I want to hold Amir's face and pepper him with kisses. I want to hold him close, rub his back, and play with this hair as he falls asleep. I want my Drifter to be soft to him.

So Pick A Side just dropped and honestly it's been permanently renamed in my brain as Rage Against The Indifference. You can't tell me you don't hear it too. And now you're thinking about it, you can't unhear it. So thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the word play and mythology references DE's given to our up and coming SCALDRA big bads? Pure genius.
Let's start off with the Major herself, Neci Rusalka. The name Neci means fiery, intense and passionate. Our lovely Major alongside the flaming red hair, has those personality traits in spades. Her appearance isn't just a coincidence either, which is where her surname comes in - Rusalka. In Slavic mythology, a Rusalka is the spirit of a young woman who died an unnatural death. (Neci has Efervon enhancements and mechanical parts) She is often depicted as beautiful, with long hair and large breasts. Rusalki are known for luring men into waterways with their beauty and voice and then drowning them.
Then we have her second in command, Viktor Vodyanoi. The name Viktor means Conquerer or victory, but like the Major, his surname is where it gets interesting- Vodyanoi- The vodyanoy is an evil and vindictive spirit, a bogeyman of sorts whose favourite sport is drowning humans. He can assume many different forms that enable him to deceive and trap his victims.
So Neci and Viktors surnames are not only node names on the star chart, but they're both Slavic water creatures. Their physical appearances also seem to coincide with them too. Both of the creatures they're named after are known for being malevolent - luring people in and drowning them.
Does this mean anything for 1999? No. Do I think it's cool and had to point it out anyway? Hell yes.
