I think the biggest thing mascot horror things need to get a grip on is the reasonable balance of cute/creepy. The mascot in question needs to be cute enough to realistically be for children but scary enough to actually make for effective horror. Most games always lean too far in either direction and idk maybe it's just me but immersion with these kinds of games are important for me to actually find enjoyment in them.

find books, movies, games, etc. on the internet archive! for starters, here's a bunch of David Attenborough documentaries and all of the Animorphs books

burn your music onto cds

use pdf24 (available online or as a desktop app) instead of adobe

use unroll.me to clean your email inboxes

use thunderbird, mailfence, countermail, edison mail, tuta, or proton mail instead of gmail

remove bloatware on windows PC, macOS, and iOS X

WIP Wednesday

Got tagged by @notanandalitebandit for this, of course its the day i spent more time planning than writing but hey. Sneak peak at Monday's Revelation chapter

"Dogmeat, huh? Well, welcome to the family, Dogmeat. There'll be more of us soon, once i find my dad." Dogmeat flopped into her lap, rolling to give her access for belly rubs, and to see that the dog was a girl.

After five minutes of belly rubs and about twenty minutes of scavving, the brotherhood members finally trickled in, all arguing.

"You know," Blair said, walking around an old rusty vehicle as the first large figure in power armor walked around the corner. "If y'all hadn't been such big cowards, these poor bastards may have stood a chance." Cutler gave her a bittersweet smile as Asher shot a hidden dirty look at the power armored figure while a couple other scribes split into the yard with somebody else in fatigues or power armor.

"Our first priority is protection of brotherhood assets," the towering figure said as Asher and Cutler stuck together, walking off. But that seemed to strike a nerve with Cutler, who turned and glowered at the figure.

"Oh, protection of assets, but you still wouldn't sign off on their marriage request so Danse would get bereavement if something happened?" Cutler snipped, and even through the helmet, Blair knew that the figure was shooting him a dirty look.

"Just because Sentinel Lyons claimed you as a squire doesn't mean you get to talk to me in such a manner," was the clipped reply. "And I was doing Knight Danse a favor by not letting him couple himself to someone too confused to understand his place in the world-"

"You shut your fucking mouth Kreig-" Cutler snarled, pushing forward, but Blair jumped between Cutler and Kreig, catching Cutler as the power armored figure raised his rifle.

"It's not worth it Cutler," Asher said, reached forward and trying to grab his arm as Blair tried to act as a shield- though she wasn't sure who she was protecting.

"You heard the scribe, woman," Kreig said. Blair watched the spark of anger in Cutler's eyes fan into a flame. She then found herself yanked away by Asher as Cutler rushed the figure. With a few movements the armor was open, and he hurled the older man out of the armor and across the ground.

"For fuck's sake Kreig," sighed one of the power armored figure who accompanied an older woman as Cutler launched to the now undefended Kreig, who looked up in fear as Cutler pinned him to the ground with a knee in the gut and began to punch his face in.

One of the most helpful things I've learned to do with ADHD is when I need to start a task, I don't think "I need to do this task" I think "I need to do (first step of task)".

I don't tell myself "I need to wash the dishes piling up in the sink." I tell myself "I need to get the scrub brush and turn on the facuet." That's easy, so I do it and bam, I've started the task.

"I need to brush my teeth" -> "I need to get my toothbrush wet and put toothpaste on it."

"I need to write this essay" -> "I need to pull up the assignment guidelines and open a word doc."

"I need to go to the store." -> "I need to put on my shoes."

Tasks are easily overwhelming when you constantly think about them in their entirety, so picking the most immediate part you need to so and only focusing/doing that helps to get you to start it with less anexity & stress.

"Hey old man," she teased, which earned her a patented Carrington glower.

"I hardly believe you come all the way from Goodneighbor to call me old," He said with a sigh, picking up his stethoscope and turning to her. "You just got your physical in February, and you're acting fine. Why are you here?" She looked around before walking closer to him.

"What passes as a pregnancy test on this side of the bombs?"

Alright so, Revelation! aka how I realized the book of revelation is singular despite growing up in a southern baptist church.

I actually introduced my Lone Wanderer in Nuclear Family as Scribe Blair Birmingham because idgaf about the game making us a knight in Broken Steel. So in Nuclear Family Blair is an incredibly nihilistic/pessimistic person who is notable genderqueer and is established to have had a chem-head phase when they were twenty which is nobody believes them when they talk about what happened on Mothership Zeta.

But when Fallout 3 starts, Blair is a very religious teenager who has a very strong moral compass that she follows even to her own detriment at times. I'm already having so much fun with it because Blair as a nineteen year old is basically a taller and buffer version of Gin from Nuclear Family if Gin never cursed. On top of this I'm absolutely putting Blair through the ringer, as the mainline fic established that Blair hit rock bottom after getting the water filter and lost that moral compass for a bit before getting it back.

I'm also doing a fun thing with the way I'm cheating my chapter headings, which is starting out with bible that are applicable to the chapter until she begins to have a crisis of faith, at which point it'll be a mixture of bible verse and songs, and then fully switching over to songs once she finally decides that she doesn't want to believe in a god that would put her through that much hell.
