Together
Summary-  Based off the song Together by Animal Island
Klaus Mikaelson-
I can't believe that I finally found you here.
Klaus made many mistakes. In fact he could never count how many mistakes he’s made however the opposite could be said about his true successes. You were probably the only success in his life he actually treasured and kept close to him. He loved the relationship the two of you had. When you first met, he was drawn to you. He couldn’t explain the desire to be near or the reason he couldn't stay away no matter how much it hurt the people around you, because wherever Klaus went there was bound to be murder and mayheim trailing behind him. He knew this, you knew this but still he couldn’t stay away and you couldn’t help entertaining the dangerous predator that was The Klaus Mikaelson. His past didn’t necessarily intrigue you but rather piqued the side of you that loved murder mysteries and true crime.
So there you were in a garden across town practically isolated reading a cheesy mystery novel about a cafe and a murder that a business savvy woman had begun to piece together. It wasn't that you purposely forgot about your phone or for that fact put it on mute but rather resonated with the silence and paper between your nimble fingers. It also was very much like you to be there that when the rustle in the bushes didn't startle you. What did, what truly did was Klaus brushing the tips of his fingers against the back of your neck.
"I can't believe that I finally found you
here." Klaus grinned as your eyes finally finding his and your book slowly shuts between your hands.
Well, where else would I be?" You question, reaching your hand out to take his extended one.
"With me." He smiles

The Other Girl in Town
Part 2
Loosely based on Season 3 Episode 8 “The Other Girl in New Orleans” in which Aurora, Rebekah’s first sire and Niklaus’s first love, takes Klaus’s favorite person in attempt to eliminate the competition for Klaus’s love.
Summary: Aurora arrives into your town after hearing Klaus has fallen for someone new. That someone being you, who has been with Klaus for nearly five years and has been Rebekah’s best friend for longer. You are no stranger to being kidnap since Klaus is the most powerful and feared original with enemies all across the world.
[semi-edited]
3412 word count
Part 1,
“Hi, your Y/N? Right?” she says with an accent similar to Rebekah’s and you get a sudden chill. Her smile widens and you nod your head. “Good, my name is Aurora. We have a lot to discuss don’t you think?” the hand that she stuck out for you shake suddenly grabs your throat.
--
“Well, aren’t you just adorable?” Aurora’s voice eases you from the sleep she’d put you in. You find your hands and feet tied and panic settles in your bones. “I want to have a chat with you,” her fingers trail your hairline. “I’ve been watching you for a week, now, and noticed a hybrid a few paces behind you but today nothing.” her hand slips to your throat again as you raise your eyes to look at her. “Care to explain?” her tone was harsh and the headache you had from crying seemed to worsen. “I have a thing for honesty, I suggest you answer honestly.” she smiled menacingly.
“I snuck out.” whether you were honest or not you knew that she would never know because you could lie better than ever. But this-this wasn’t technically a lie. You knew when Rebekah or Freya woke up they’d have seen you left and would search for you. They, even if their brother Klaus had abandoned you, wouldn’t let you disappear.
“What I want to know
” she trailed seemingly in thought. You look at your hands tied together with thick, disgustingly smelling rope and you wondered what Klaus had done this time. “What do we have in common?” her question took you by surprise and by the look on her face she wasn’t pleased. “You and I? What made Klaus like you so much he’d grow so protective over you?” when you shrugged your shoulders she slams your head to the wall behind you. “He loved me first, you know, he still loves me. You are just his pet, his human to feed on.” her tone caused you to flinch. Never in all the time, you’d know Niklaus had he ever mentioned her or anyone else before you.
“I don’t know what we have in common, why don’t you ask him?” you say itching to free your hands from the rope around them. She smirks though and it is enough to make you visibly shrink.
“If you give me his number I’d be glad to ask him.”
--
Freya woke about lunch time with her stomach in knots. Never had she seen her brother so torn. Of course, he wanted to go with Y/N but last night he was vulnerable and wouldn’t let himself lose what he loved most. He’d spent hours with Freya and Rebekah gushing about how he wanted to spend eternity with you. Freya stood outside of Klaus’s room she knew that it wasn’t what you had said to Klaus that upset him it was that he knew you were way too good for him to keep forever. So, the task of getting him to talk it out with you felt impossible. She said a silent prayer though, hoping she’d get his sensitive side and he’d leap into action to apologize.
“Go away.” Niklaus’ voice was hoarse and instead of going in she put her back to the door and slid down finding a spot on the floor.
“Just apologize.” she softly hummed. Twisting her head to listen through the door. Silence. All around her was silence.
Rebekah, on the other hand, had just knocked on your door before taking a deep breath and pushing the door open. When she took in the bright room she saw nothing. No one on the couch snoring, no one sitting behind the desk no one. Nothing. No dogs were roaming the house since none had greeted her as she called out. Rebekah’s fingers tapped the desk impatiently. Where could Y/N be? You hadn’t popped out the bathroom nor had you been seen in the kitchen as she passed it. Your phone laid on the desk as you had been nowhere to be found. Her eyes found the papers one with Klaus written on top and the other with Rebekah. Her fingers tore it open.
Beks,
Don’t worry I’m at Alex’s. Don’t tell anyone where I am. Call her when you get this if you want to hang out as I will not take my phone. I will not talk about Klaus so don’t bother setting something up if that’s the case. Tell Freya I’m fine and I love her, also, I’m not sure if you met him but my friend, Malachai, is coming over to practice protection spells with Freya. Please reminder her.
Love you,
Y/N.
Unlocking your phone Rebekah dialed your sister. To say that she was beyond furious was an understatement, she couldn’t believe that you wouldn’t tell her face to face that you were leaving and you were going to get an earful when she got a hold of you.
“Hello? Y/N,” your sister Alex answered the phone.
“Alex she’s with you, this is Bekah.” Rebekah’s blood boiled. There was a long silence and finally, Alex let out a sigh.
“She’s not with me Beks. I’m home and no one has walked through the front door. Are you sure she’s not with you? That place is a mansion.” Alex let out a defeated sigh before switching the phone to her other ear.
“No, she isn’t here. She wrote a note saying she would be with you.” Rebekah gritted her teeth. She wasn’t necessarily mad anymore but worried. You weren’t the type to run off let alone not be where you said you would be. “Are the dogs there?” there was a shuffle on Alex’s side of the line as she moved around the house and even looked in the backyard.
After a quick no, Rebekah’s patience began running thin. “Okay call me back when she gets in,” Rebekah whispers hanging up, not bothering getting Alex’s response.
Rebekah made her way back up the stairs slowly. She didn’t exactly know what you had written to Klaus and she didn’t know if you had wanted him to notice you were gone or if you wanted her to tell him. Either way, she was nervous. Beyond so. When Freya and Rebekah’s eyes meet she breathes in.
“Will you do a locator spell?” Rebekah whispers as she shows Freya the small paper with Klaus’s name on it in her hand before the door swung open. Freya fell backward and Klaus glared at the two of them.
“Go away, I can’t do a locator spell I am not a witch.” his voice came out sharp like a blade and both girls flinch.
“I didn’t mean you, Nik,” Rebekah said quietly. Her hand with the paper waving as if to tease him. Freya realizing the mistake she reached out taking Rebekah by the shoulders to turn her away.
“What is that?” Nik’s voice softens and Rebekah can feel his heartache at the loopy letters. She doesn’t say anything as she hands him the paper. Freya squeezes Klaus’s arm before leading Rebekah away.
It isn’t until the reach Freya’s bedroom and is safely inside before Klaus lets out a loud howl or cry neither really know which is more accurate. Freya sets up a map and Rebekah sits quietly in the corner watching as Freya starts the chanting.
“I want her found!” Klaus yells so loudly Rebekah notices the small shake of the powder on the map. “No one rests until she’s found!” like a war leader Klaus commands his hybrids and it no doubt startles Elijah and Kol awake.
“I can’t connect to her,” Freya whispers to Rebekah as the powder ignites a flame on the map. Rebekah puts out the flame as Freya sets out another map and collects a small red vial. The smell hits her nostrils as Freya rubs your blood on her hands. She chants screwing her eyes shut in concentration. The blood on her hands turns black and the smell is putrid. “I don’t- something is seriously wrong, Rebekah, either someone has expertly cloaking her or-” it’s barely a whisper but Freya and Rebekah know Klaus heard.
“Don’t finish that sentence-” Rebekah is startled by the door swinging open and to her relief Kol strides in. “try again, please.” by now Kol is used to them ignoring him, used to everyone judging him and looking past him but he knows for a fact you wouldn’t just disappear like that. It scares him, scares the three of them.
Freya wipes her hands turning the towel black and she lets out a frustrated sigh. “I can’t.”
--
What neither of the Mikaelsons knows is that you left of your own accord only to be taken in an effort to mess with Niklaus. You sat across from Aurora repeating the same numbers you’d dial in dreams and you listened as she’d get voicemail after voicemail.
“Well, this isn’t working. Give me your phone. I’ll call him from there.” her hand was held out and as you rolled your eyes she saw the truth you didn’t have your phone because you were hiding. “Where is it?” her tone becoming thin.
“I left it at the house.” you were tired. Tired of having your wrists tied together, tired of her giving you image after clear image of Niklaus and her in love, making love and pinning over another. She had a field day when she realized she could tell you all about their romantic relations to torture you just a bit more even as she banged your head against the wall repeatedly. “Call it if you don’t believe me.” you rattled off your own number and in the far distance as Aurora walked away you hear the click answering letting you know she had a new audience to entertain.
--
“Who is this?” Freya said into the speaker. Her hands still searching the map and Rebekah ran vamp speed to get Klaus.
“Why don’t you ask Rebekah or better yet Niklaus.”
“I don’t have time for games.” Freya gritted her teeth. She was angry, she couldn’t even do a simple locator spell why was she on the phone.
“Hand me the phone, Freya.” looking up both Kol and Freya realized how relaxed Klaus was how he moved with the storm avoiding them and hitting the enemy instead. “Hello.” his voice was strong and determined. He’d find you even if you clearly didn’t want to be found.
“Oh? Hello darling, did you miss me?” Klaus knew full well who spoke with such delight in her voice.
“Why are you calling this number, Aurora? What do you want,” he spoke so cooly Kol shuddered. He’d been on the other end of Klaus’ vengeance before but this was too organized he almost grew scared at what his brother was capable of.
“I wanted to talk to you but you didn’t answer.” they could practically hear the pout on her face.
“Do you have her?” the rage in Klaus was settling all over.
“Maybe, maybe not what do you care?” her tone was playful and that only infuriated Klaus more. “If you’re really worried, why don't you come find me?” and with that, the call ended and the treasure hunt for you was just getting started.
--
“Well, I dare say he didn’t sound too happy.” Aurora smiled at you and you couldn’t help but bare your teeth like a dog ready to rip something apart. She slammed your head against the wall the sound echoed in the room before your eyes fluttered closed.
--
Freya set up a protective barrier around the house to keep a safe space. It wasn’t until Malachai arrived stopping at the boundary around the home that Freya felt like she could find your location.
When you had awoken you were sitting in a glass rectangle. A tank? You thought to yourself. No one but a man with sharp features was in the room sulking. It was your chance to escape. The problem was that you were stuck in the glass tank magicians used. Your hands were free but you noticed the small trickle of water slowly filling the small tank. Your hands pushed and shoved against the glass trying to break it but your actions were not enough.
“No use. I think we should start the live stream don’t you think?” he spoke with such assurance in himself.
“Klaus will murder you.” your words strung together so quickly you almost questioned why you allowed yourself the thought of Klaus avenging you when you clearly meant nothing to him. “Rip you limb from limb.” the words gush out of your mouth fear 'settling in your bones.
“If he can catch me, maybe.” the man laughed and you notice the water falling in faster than before. “Welcome to the show.” his hands waved in front of your glass and you wondered what was happening. “The Mikaelsons will be glad to see you alive a few minutes more.” your head shook violently. No, you thought. This can’t end like this. Your hands pound on the walls as you got up to kick the glass. The water barely covering your feet made you shiver. It’s when you watched the water trickle in that you saw your pendant still around your neck.
Ripping it from your neck you held it in your hands like you were about to say a prayer. ‘Please, Malachai. Please hear me.’ your words mumbled so far below your breath the man stood in front of you amazed at your faith. The live stream setup connecting to the Mikaelson home showing Kol and Freya’s worried expressions.
“She’s going to die,” Kol whispered as he watched the screen showing them you in a tank that slowly filled.
“No, she’s not,” Freya said as she held her hands up to try her magic through the screen.
“Wait-” Kai had just realized what you were doing. You weren’t on your knees praying to a god you were using the necklace he’d gifted to you in case of emergency. Which was a good deal of the time since you were almost always used against the Mikaelsons as they had grown so close to you?
“I can’t send my magic through,” Freya said slipping to the floor on her knees feeling helpless.
“Let me borrow some of your magic, Freya.” Kai was already reaching forward ready to place his hands on her. When she gave him some of her magic he vanished. Both Kol and Freya looked at you now kicking the glass with the water filled to your knees.
“Klaus-” Kai appeared in front of Niklaus out of thin air nearly starting a fight at Klaus’ irritation. “Come with me.” the magic was wearing thin but they transported an abandoned building just outside of town.
“What is this!” Klaus demanded as he stared into Kai’s smiling face.
“The gift you told me to give her,” Kai took the pendant that matched yours from his neck and gave it to Klaus. “It worked. She sent a distress signal.” Kai smiled as he shoved Klaus forward to lead the way to you.
--
“Stop, please,” you screamed. It wasn’t that water was now waist high that you pleaded for him to stop it was the screen in front of you. He’d changed your screen from seeing Kol and Freya to apparent live footage of Aurora and Klaus naked laying in your bed. The witch took pleasure in showing you exactly what you dreaded seeing. Everything from Rebekah searching for you to Freya trying and failing her locator spells and now to Klaus’ apparently fast emotional switch no longer caring for you since he was in bed with another.
Your fists were sore with each bang hitting the glass. You needed to get out if not for you for Rebekah, Freya and Kol who had taken you under their wings enabling you to learn about the history each sibling had shared with another until they had met you. You couldn’t die without a word to either. Your hand wrapped around the pendant pleading with it to break the glass or stop the water or even bring Malachai himself to your rescue. Your foot stomped against the glass repeatedly. You wanted to break through even as your hopes of doing so slowly faded.
Klaus’ hand squeezed the heart of Aurora as she looked at him with clear admiration and a bit of fear. Aurora had walked out into Klaus’ path so willingly, so sure that he’d choose her that she hadn’t thought about his loyalties being with anyone but her.
“I’m doing us a favor Niklaus. Your pet will die and we can be together without distractions.” Aurora felt her smile falter as she looked Klaus dead in the eyes that tinged yellow as his wolf nature emerged. “I have to say-” Klaus squeezed tighter making her chest ache. “That I was a bit jealous that you had settled for her instead of finding me.” Aurora reached out her hand that wasn’t clenching his arm to touch his neck. She knew exactly how to calm him back nearly a millennium. Now though her movements only angered him and it was only when he jumped into her mind she saw his destruction, his brutal violence against her brother and his first sire.  She saw his willingness to annihilate any threat that came to you like how her brother had spread a rumor he’d take you only to be met with death by Klaus’ hand.
“You mean nothing to me. If a single hair on her head has been harmed you’ll begin to associate my name with pain so painful even the devil himself will weep.” Klaus was beyond angry that Aurora has weaseled her way into his kingdom and threatened your life without blinking an eye. Before he could second guess himself he bit her allowing the werewolf venom to steep into her bloodstream.
“Klaus?” Aurora’s plea was quiet as fear of death clouded her brain. “I’m sorry to interrupt, Klaus, but if we want Y/N to live we’ve gotta go.” Kai shuddered as he took in the bite on Aurora’s arm which looked disgusting as the venom made the area look like rotting skin.
Kai navigating the building as Klaus took out vampires and everyone else who stood between him, one by one. Ripping out their hearts or cutting off their heads.
The water was just over your head and you were forced to float if you wanted air. It felt like it was over. Surely you couldn’t survive with the last bit of air left for longer than a few minutes and with the screen still in front of you showing Aurora and Klaus fucking you weren’t exactly sure you wanted to survive. With your last gulp of air, you slid down one last time banging and kicking the glass. Your thoughts were everywhere as the witch smiled his wicked smile at you only to widen his eyes in surprise. The air leaving your lungs made a tightness stretch across your chest thinking about the water beginning to fill your body. You struggled to hold the last bit of oxygen in your lungs but you kicked and kicked the glass. Survival mode leaving you close to death.
When Kai and Klaus entered the room only one person besides yourself was there. “Y/N!” Kai yells. The small man who smiled so cruelly at seeing you flail your arms in hopelessness. Klaus reacted first throwing the pendant against the glass tank breaking it with such ease everything came out full force. Your body was thrown to the grown across the broken glass as you inhale oxygen quickly trying to calm your racing heart. You head pounding as the oxygen began returning blood into different areas of your brain.

Part 2
4,200 word count
“Beks, are you ready to go or what?” you had been irritated at the time crunch you’d been put in. Rebekah taking nearly thirty minutes over the set leaving time and your sister, Alex calling you every five minutes to see if you guys had left yet. It was always stressful in December since you had to remind not only your family but the Mikaelsons to get along not to mention since you turned 18 you hosted friends Christmas and new years eve parties year after year in attempts to maintain the peace with neighbors and your roommates, the Mikaelsons. But this year it was hosted by the town’s mayor who graciously invited the Mikaelsons simply out of courtesy to you since your father was a chairman in maintaining order between the supernatural and humans. “Why is your skirt shorter?” her voice was smooth and the disappointment clear within the tone. Your gaze follows Rebekah as she walked down the grand staircase she insisted on having. The glitter red top simmering as the lights flickered on at the lack of sunlight. “I hemmed it. Please, can we go?” your voice sounded strange to you, strained and tired at how much effort you had put into everything all month. At the bottom of the steps Marcel holds his hand out to guide Rebekah to the car and you silently thank him for hurrying her along. “Will you hem mine?” you love Rebekah and the simple request that falls from her glittery pink lips makes you cave. You wanted to be on time for the new years party but you were already late so what could another thirty minutes be on that times table? You nodded, your hands held out as Rebekah uses her vampire speed to collect all you need to shorten her matching skirt. That was what the four of you wanted, you, Rebekah, Freya and your sister. Rebekah finding these long sleeve glitter bodysuits that went perfectly to the black skirt you had made for your sister months ago. “It’s a quick hem, so try not to sit on anything rough that’ll rip the thread okay?” your voice came out before you could register the words and Rebekah nods as she holds out her hand to help you get off your knees. “Well, are we going or what?” Niklaus’s voice boomed from the kitchen and you could tell he’s a bit grumpy at the suit you placed him in. ‘I’ll wear it because you asked, but don’t think I’ll enjoy it, love.’ his earlier words ringing in your head as Rebekah shouts that she’ll be in the car. -- The ride to the hotel was short with Nik’s quick driving you hardly allowed him to drive since unlike him and his siblings you were human and therefore slightly fragile. When you first met Rebekah you had wanted to turn, being only fourteen you thought it would be the coolest thing to be invincible but your mind quickly soured on the idea when Marcel ripped out the heart of a vampire football player right in front of you. You later told Rebekah that if you could die just as easily you saw no point in changing. She agreed she knowing the hardships of being a vampire so since those days in high school you had not discussed it again. When Niklaus opens your car door and raises an eyebrow at you suddenly your cheeks begin to tinge pink. He helped you down and kissed your pink cheeks letting you know he found it cute when you blushed. His suit was immaculately pressed with not a single wrinkle insight. His blazer matched your silver glitter top. You had sworn to never turn into the couple that matched at parties but as the years went by and you saw more people do it you decided to take the chance that year. Buying him a silver glitter blazer and praying it wouldn’t need alterations because you were going to surprise him with it. To which he groaned lowly and playfully told you that you’d owe him another gift in return for him complying with your demand. So there the four of you were at the entrance of the hotel’s ballroom with Rebekah in her red glitter top, black skirt, and booties that matched your outfit. While Marcel and Niklaus had matching glitter blazers only his red like Rebekah. The lot of you were greeted by different people on the council who recognized you with kind eyes only to turn angry at the lot you were with. Many had concerns that you would end up like them because you hung out with them so much being so engraved into their lives. Somehow you had parted with them and found yourself standing next to your sister who wore the gold glitter set with her boyfriend, Freya with her red glitter set and your father’s co-worker. Your sister Alexandra had made it clear to everyone in the room she had supported your relationships with the Mikaelsons’ by branding herself your defender. Anytime a snarky remark was made about you or Nik, she’d rip them apart with her words. This made you unease since you had garnered a lot of enemies by being close to the Mikaelsons’ and you were in a rush to watch your sister share the same fate. Across the room, you saw Elijah and his hybrid girlfriend sparkled green and you wondered if standing in solidarity was truly the right way to go tonight. The Mikaelsons not exactly easily liked. When Niklaus wraps his arms around your waist pulling your backside to his front you can’t help but smile and agree that it was the right move to make. Your father’s co-worker rolls his eyes at Nik before excusing himself leaving you slightly annoyed. It’s when Nik sweeps your body onto the dance floor leaving everyone behind that you feel yourself relax into the crook of his neck. His lips brush against your ear as he whispers “Where are you, my love?” without much effort you sigh ready to spill your worries and anxieties to him in the middle of the crowd. “t Your so far away, why is that?” he spins you and your slight swaying motion you called dancing begins to fade as the music shifts to a faster beat. “I- I am just worried. That’s all. I know you and your brothers have been on your guys’ best behavior,” you take Nik’s hand and gently guide him away from the dance floor, away from Rebekah, Elijah and Kol’s earshot. “But I’m worried it is not enough.” you want to tell him what people say at your college classes when they whisper things about you and your friendship with the Originals but you hold back. It is always a sensitive topic between you and Niklaus mostly due to his fear of you realize he isn’t worth your time, fear that you’ll wake up one day on your shared bed and resent him for all the trouble he’s brought into your life, wake up and realize it was never love in fact only an infatuation with the bad boy that drew you in. you both have always been honest with each other never telling anything but the truth because you’ve seen how secrets fester and rot relationships all you had to do was look at his family’s relationships. “It’ll be enough. Besides, love, haven’t seen Kol this contained since we were newly vampires.” his thumb runs over the knuckles on the back of your hand and slowly but surely you nod at the comment. Even Rebekah had remarked on his self-control. He moves your hand to his lips placing a gentle kiss on the knuckles and you let out a breath you weren’t sure why you were holding. “There’s been talk
” your voice trails off not wanting to reveal the real truth, the one he ignores as he stays in his mansion painting the days away. His eyes beg for you not to ruin the night but you know it has to be said. “There’s been talk that this small town isn’t big enough for the whole Mikaelson family. That some want your brothers and you to move on, that I keep you here and if I weren’t here you all would leave.” Niklaus closes his eyes and you feel yours prick with tears not having told him all of it. It doesn’t matter what you do next because without a second pause Kol strides up to the both of you and smiles his charming smile. “I must say, Y/N, these blazers are quite scratchy.” Kol laughs as his hands slide down his glitter green blazer that matched Elijah’s. “But unfortunately I must borrow my brother. It’s-” his lips pressed in a thin line as his brown eyes glazed over you to look at your left where Nik stood ridged. “-quite urgent.” you nod your head and give Nik a quick kiss on the lips before moving your way to the bar where you’ll gather liquid courage. You knew that despite what you tried to tell yourself you knew Niklaus was still the same monster everyone cowered from. Even if you were home and could walk into his studio to find him in a long black robe just awoken mixing and swatching paint that on the days you worked late serving burgers and fries that Nik wasn’t home. He’d magically turn into the ruthless man everyone feared, with dried blood on his hands or splatters across his shirt. You knew he turned into a monster around others but never with you which is why when Kol or Elijah come strolling his away with a glint of anger in their eyes masked by a burst of laughter you knew not to ask questions you didn’t want the answers to. You knew to leave, find a book or headphones to drown the thoughts of Klaus being cruel of him being the truly wicked king he’d crowned himself to be. It had been that way for years, with all the honest talks about how cruel he had been in the past you knew as well as he that you’d rather shield yourself from that version of him than to try to change him which was as hard as pushing a boulder over a mountain. You had changed him though, in little ways, he smiled more and openly kissed you in public when before he had hardly held your hand when you both went out together before he had a permanent scowl etched across his features. -- No matter how hard Niklaus scrubbed his hands in the men’s washroom he couldn’t remove the blood that stained his nail beds or that had splattered on his white button up. He had just ripped out the heart of his first sire and was about to rip out the heart of Elijah’s first sire when Kol sliced off the head splattering blood just about everywhere. The threat had been subdued with death yet again. His family preferring to completely end the threat than allowing it to continue even though they had friendships with such people. Elijah’s call really. Ending violence with a slaughter of entire communities. After nearly two years of being with Y/N, he decided to lay low, to quit making enemies for the sake of Y/N being allowed to live in the town she loved and be able to thrive. After five years Klaus was a double-sided coin, vicious with his brothers and kind with Y/N. he had learned to navigate both worlds carefully if his girlfriend wanted to know about this side of him all she had to do was ask and he’d tell her reluctantly but she never asked and he was grateful. -- You saw Nik before he saw you and with how many shots you had taken you were sure you could tell him what you had to say without being a coward and hiding. You strode up to him and his smile instantly lit the room or so you thought. Something about him was off and you knew if you asked he’d have to tell you the world he held from you so you instead blurt out “the council got me a scholarship and accepted to a school out of state. To get my masters.” the words felt like vomit as you took in his shocked expression turn into a deep set scowl. Freya who stood next to you had widened her eyes at how blunt you were, she knew you had debated how and when to tell him and how nervous you had been all evening but she had never expected you to tell him with such a crowd surrounding the both of you. “I think we better get going. Freya, Y/N, let’s go.” Rebekah’s voice shining through as she pushed her way through the crowd to get to you. Whether she was mad or not you couldn’t tell and didn’t care. All you cared about was shoving the words back into your mouth as you watched Niklaus’ eyes turn into his wolf one’s and turn his back on you so suddenly you were sure you were going to fall on the floor crying. When Freya and Rebekah pushed you out the door followed by Marcel and your sister you sank to the ground upset at how you hurt Nik. Alex said her goodbyes and Freya slid in the back seat of her car waiting for Rebekah and Marcel. “I fucked up.” your voice trembled and you felt uneasy. Freya gave you a sympathetic smile before sliding her hand into yours. Your eyes find the clock on the dashboard: 11 pm. “It’ll be all right.” -- It was not all right, to say the least. You had come home to find Niklaus breaking his entire art studio in a fit of rage. The favorite painting of yours with a moon and stars that rivaled Van Gogh’s starry night was ripped right in front of you as tears streamed both your faces. “So they want you to leave me-” Nik smashed a vase of pretty pink roses, you had clipped from your garden from him, against the wall. “They want to lure me out of town by hoping I follow you.” the table holding his paint and brushes slammed against the floor as he flipped it. “You wouldn’t have told me unless you were considering leaving.” Nik ripped the last of his paintings and your heart sank at how hurt he truly was at you considering on leaving. Even if you had considered leaving you would have begged him to come with you because you loved him. “I needed to-” you stopped abruptly as a low growl came from his throat. It wasn’t that you were scared, you had seen him transform into his wolf form even scratched behind his ears as he played with the dogs in that form. What stopped you were deep down you knew you would have left if he didn’t want to go with you and you don’t want that to be true like he says it to be. “What did you need to?” his voice settling on calm, the anger slipping away as he hears the softness in your tone. “I needed to tell you before someone had mentioned it. Before you thought I didn’t tell you because I was leaving without you. I wanted to tell you the week they-” your voice trailed you knew you made no sense that he was struggling to understand as he cocks his head to the side. “I’m sorry.” your voice is barely above a whisper but he hears it with such ease that he makes a few quick strides to you closing the gap. His arms wrap around your body and kiss the top of your head in surrender. “I needed to tell you because even though I don’t approve of what the council did I want to go and I want you to come with me. Rebekah says if we got away for a bit things will calm down.” your head rests against his chest and you hear his heart beating solidly underneath you almost miss the catch. “I’m not going.” his throat is raw from crying but his words surprise you into taking a step back. “Why not?” you say it so quickly you almost regret how it sounds. “If you want to go fine.” his posture and demure has changed so quickly you are almost sure he’s hiding and turning cold before anything that hurts him can come back again. “If you want to go, go. But don’t expect me to just sit here.” his words are sharp and you feel them slice through your stomach. “Why won’t you come with me or at least weigh the pros and cons with me?” you feel yourself sliding a wall between you and what his answer will be. You find yourself praying for your heart not to break. Not here, not now. You say in your head as tears prickle your eyes. “I am not leaving my family. I’ll make it easier on you-” the steps Klaus takes putting distance between you both is almost echoing. “Were over.” the simple words rip out your heart but your tears don’t come as you nod your head letting him know you understand. When you walk out of the studio you find yourself shutting the door to the library not looking up as you pass by Freya and Elijah staring what feels like through you. The dogs had followed you in even though they don’t normally come into your sacred room. There isn’t a lock on the door so anyone can come in but no one does. Even as the sun begins to rise and you ring in the new year on your own. It had been hours and not a peep from any section of the house could be heard. When you check your watch you see the time is barely 7 am and you tell yourself a silent prayer begging for everyone to be asleep. Your hand slides over the paper you’d been writing on. Carefully folded with Rebekah scribbled across and another, Klaus. When you step out of the room the dogs follow and you find that the downstairs is empty so without thinking about it you lace up some boots on your feet, disengage the alarm and slip outside the dogs following behind. When your breath clouds up around you-you cross your arms trying to maintain your warmth in the thin glittery top. Your feet do the work on their own without much thought you find yourself at your neighbor’s house just a mere 3 miles from your home. Your knuckles rap against the wood and before you know it you hear shuffling behind the door signaling they were coming to your aid. “Oh my, dear, what happened?” Mrs. Trulee said as the door opened wider to reveal you with tear stained cheeks, blue-tinged lips and yesterday’s clothing trailed by two big dogs in black sweaters. “I’m sorry to just show up like this at 7 in the morning, Mrs. Trulee. But do you work today?” her grey hair shines like your top and without much thought, she drags you into the house holding you in a warm hug. “I do, dear. Do you want a ride into town?” you nod your head and she leads you into the kitchen grabbing a tumblr of coffee offering you one. You shake your head no and you feel your lip tremble as you hold back tears. A few minutes later she ushers you to her small grey car you are sure is over twenty years old. You open the back door open for your dogs to get in before sliding in the front seat. Small ‘Thank-yous’ leave your mouth along the way not being able to tell her how grateful you are. When she pulls into her little bakery’s parking lot you give her a small smile and no matter how many times she asks you where you need to be dropped off you just say you’ll walk from her shop and smile appreciatively at how she even allowed you in the car with your dogs. When you’ve said thank you for what feels like the hundredth time you make your way down the streets finding the one apartment that was reserved for you over six years ago. It was a place that your friend rented and kept up in hopes you would clear the vampires out of your system and one day moves in to try and start a normal life. You’d never entered it until today you barely remembered which building and had to look at the names of all the tenants remembering whom you had to buzz to be let in. You finally were granted entrance after two rings and found yourself tearing up at being split from Nik. Sure there were days where neither of you would see each other throughout the day but you both still ended up sleeping in the same bed cuddled together despite one of you getting in later than the other. This was an entirely different bed that you hadn’t planned to sleep in at all. You found the key above the door frame and let yourself in to find a bare apartment, simple couch, and table set with a kitchen and two rooms off to the side. The dogs made themselves at home laying on the couch and when you find clothing in the bedroom you let the tears sweep over you in waves. Somehow you showered and replaced your festive outfit with perfectly fitting jeans and a tank top opting to wear a cardigan if you go out you settle into bed sleep greeting you instantly. You wake up sometime later and nothing hits you. You know this feeling of numbness and wish you hadn’t transitioned into this never-ending tunnel. It is lunchtime and your stomach growls as you walk into the main room. The dogs perk up and you take them down let them do their business across the street and pick up a snack from the vending machine in the building looking at the dogs you forget to watch where you are headed and bump into an older woman with what looks like her son or nephew. “Sorry,” you mumble picking at the treat in your hand. She lets you know she is your neighbor and is happy somebody finally was moving in before the man asks if you were staying a while or a short period and when tears well in your eyes he backs off saying it was okay not to answer that he was nosy. You ask if they’d mind taking the dogs out in a couple of hours that you need to run and get groceries and dog supplies. Their faces immediately lighting up as you ask for help and show in a small way that you were planning to stay a while. They offer to keep the dogs in their apartment and you give emergency contact numbers in case something goes wrong but they assure you nothing will and you make your way back into the open street. You find yourself in a small bank talking with the bank manager that you’ve known your whole life, explaining to them that you misplaced your wallet and wondered if you could just recite the bank account number to get some cash until you find it. He agrees but offers to print you a new card completely to which you nod your head and spend another thirty minutes in his company as he settles everything. You leave with twenty dollars in cash and a new debit card but being surrounded with people you take a break inside a small bookstore across the bank. You sit still in a chair in the back closing your eyes for a mere second before footsteps are heard. You are about to apologize when you see a woman with red hair sticks her hand out.

Monster Among Men
Pt 3
Klaus, Kol, Elijah, Rebekah
Freya Mikaelson: “the stupid truth is I'm so bad for you”
You were new into town, finding yourself at a club wasn’t what you had imagined yourself doing the first weekend in but when your new coworkers invited you out you didn’t exactly want to turn them down. So there you were three shots deep with a pink colored stain on the bottom of your shirt where your coworker had accidentally spilled her drink on you. You’d excused yourself to the restroom finding the longest line possible, waiting in line you noticed the girl in the middle of the crowd dancing her heart out, everyone’s eyes roamed her body. When the line moved up and you had finally gained entrance you found yourself leaving and making your way back with the stained shirt to find the mesmerizing girl. Your coworker found you first, pointing at the stain which you just shrugged off. “Who's that?” your voice loud over the pounding music. Being a local had to mean she could tell you if the girl was also one or not. When your coworker looked at you with wide eyes you nearly change the topic afraid you hit a nerve. “That’s Freya, she’s nice!” your coworker yelled as she tugged you over to the dance floor. When you had made it to the middle where the mesmerizing girl was you froze, she was gorgeous, with short blonde/ brown hair framing her face. She danced with no effort and so did you, all the way until morning. It was six am and your coworker had left you at the nightclub but you hadn’t minded because you became friends with Freya who sat beside you on the curb. “So listen,” she said as you tried turning your phone on again, which wasn’t going to work since you knew that it had died an hour or two ago. “Do you mind if I borrow your phone?” you asked as she fumbled over herself. You hadn’t expected to hit it off with the girl in front of you, in fact, you knew you should have left hours ago instead of being there now with the green-eyed girl staring at you intently. “Here.” her phone was heavy and you could see her cards attached to the outside unprotected as you brought the phone up to your ear to talk to your roommate. With each unanswered ring, she sighed almost in relief. “My roommate isn’t answering.” you hand the phone back to Freya. There was a long pause where both of you couldn’t stop staring at each other. “I could ask my sister to drop you off on our way?” Freya said breaking the silence. “But it have to warn you, my family, is a mess and our friendship would probably not survive.” you hadn’t exactly been expecting her to be that honest but you were grateful. Nodding your head you see a black SUV pull up on the curb and smiled. “If you're being honest, the stupid truth is I’m even worse.” Freya’s head cocked as you told her this. “The fact is my dad and brothers are supernatural hunters, killing witches, werewolves, and vampires.” you gave her a shrug as you admitted this because the fact was that no one could stop the friendship that was already forming between you two.

Monster Among Men
Pt 2
Rebekah, Klaus, Elijah, Freya
Kol Mikaelson: “It's time for me to admit that I'm an Asshole”
You knew Kol when he was an original vampire. You had become his anchor at one point, allowing him to make mistakes but ultimately helping him from being a ripper to a semi-decent vampire. You had mourned him when Jeremy Gilbert had killed him. Had nearly a heart attack when he popped up out of the blue one day in some other body. “A witch.” you had repeated as he told you about the last month of his life. You knew he and his family had once been witches so finding out that his mom had put him in that new form hadn’t disturbed you as much as it should have. It also wasn’t that you were unaware of witches or any supernatural creature but rather you were concerned about this new face and the authenticity of it all. But still, you were around whenever he called, had spent hours with him researching a witch who could potentially end the vampire species entirely. That wasn’t exactly what he had told you rather he told you that she was a treat to his family and you believed him without much evidence. But you were there with him laughing and joking as he created spell after spell to locate her and her secret weapon. It wasn’t until Finn has hexed him you couldn’t breathe. The fact that you had lost him yet again had made you irritated and yet something about his friendship with Davina had made you second guess everything. When you had begged him pleading with him to ask Davina for help in healing him that you finally realized why he wouldn’t ask for her help to heal him. He had played you, pretended to care about you when he was flirting with the child he allegedly thought was a threat. You moved on though, two years after Finn had hexed him and he died you had left town starting a new life in another town, getting a job as a waitress and renting out a small bungalow barely finished because you didn’t care enough to. Nothing had prepared you for Kol Mikaelson himself sitting on your doorstep in his original body. Your heart nearly popped out of your chest. “How?” your voice was low and you were pretty sure he hadn’t heard you until he stood to his full height crossing his arms across his chest. “Hi, love.” his accent rang through your ears and you lost it hitting him in the chest with the side of your fists. You couldn’t believe him. You couldn’t believe how he could search for you after all this time where you thought he was dead. He let you hit him until your tears started down your face. “How,” you screamed, looking at him filled you with so much anger you couldn’t believe. “Rebekah brought me back,” he stood taller as you walked the few steps to your front door. You were done looking at him but your heart still kept you in place listening to him. “I’ve been looking all over for you for a year.” his words were rushed, fearful that you’d go in leaving him alone. You let out a growl. “Your such a liar!” you yelled, which was true because you had left Rebekah with your new address, had told her to come by anytime she’d like. “I want Davina more than I wanted this.” he gestured to the air between the both of you. “I spent the last year trying to make it work with her but she’s different- I just, I’m sorry love.”  the air seemed to leave your lungs at how honest he was. “I wouldn’t have cared if you had chosen Davina, I just wanted to know you were okay Kol. I just wanted you to be happy,” you screamed. Your neighbors were probably peeping out their curtains to see you with a boy whose ripped your heart out right in front of you. “Okay, maybe it’s time for me to admit, I’m an asshole

Monster Among Men
Summary: Based on the lyrics from Monster Among Men by 5SOS in which each of the Mikaelsons’ try not being a monster in your life
Rebekah, Elijah, Freya, Kol
Klaus Mikaelson: “I won't break your heart again I don't wanna be a monster among men”
Klaus’ ex-had shown up claiming they were soulmates hundreds of years back. When you asked the other Mikaelsons’ about it they ran like you had the plague. It had gotten so infuriating that you had brought it up to him as you laid in bed together. “So, who is she?”  he had brushed you off the same way he would a child throwing a tantrum yet it still bothered you. Time went by and somehow you saw less and less of Klaus and more and more of his ex. Klaus had begun sleeping in his art room leaving you cold on the massive bed you shared with him. You couldn’t exactly tell what was going on with him and you definitely weren’t sure about what his ex’s deal was. She had found her way into the compound and no matter who you asked, Freya, Elijah, Rebekah, Kol, even Klaus himself what that was about they’d all act confused to the point where your anger boiled over. Having enough of being ignored and taunted you had packed a bag and left. Finding your way back to your father’s house nearly an hour away. It wasn’t until you drove into the driveway and parked that your fists began hitting the steering wheel repeatedly. You were so angry with yourself for not confronting Klaus or even his ex and demanding answers. Your heart was aching just thinking about everything that actually happened that when it reminded you of the possibility of Klaus cheating it felt like it went into overdrive. When you had gotten in your childhood home you found comfort in your old twin bed and even more in the fresh sheets that covered it. It wasn’t until an hour later that your phone buzzed that you realized you had fallen asleep. Grabbing your phone you could see it was a message from a non-contact number and your heart swelled with anger. Padding the number lock on your screen to find a picture from Klaus’ ex of her and him sleeping on your bed. You hadn’t wanted to believe that Klaus would actually do that to you-you shut off your phone before covering your head once more in blankets to find sleep. Elijah is the only one who didn’t necessarily run away from you had found you missing, informing Klaus to your disappearance. It had taken him a couple of minutes to sink in that you had really left him. Had packed up a bag, hopped in your car and had driven away from him not to him. To say he was surprised was an understatement given the fact that you and he had an agreement to always talk to each other about what bothered them. Considering he had been negotiating with his ex to leave and finding ways to maker leave he hadn’t considered his distance to what made you boil over. You had come back into town a week later to pick up the rest of your stuff when you noticed the compound empty which was spooky, to say the least, but you weren’t living there anymore so who were you to judge. You had made it to your bedroom before a silent prayer fell from your lips. Your prayers weren’t answered as you opened the door to find Klaus sleeping on his side of your once shared bed. Your steps falter as you made your way further into the bedroom. Klaus had woken up when you had opened the door though and by the time he opened his eyes you were in the closet picking up your clothing. “y/n?” his words a whisper as he took you in. “what? Expecting the other one?” your tone harsh as you began to rip clothes off their hangers. “Who?”  your eyes rolled at his question. “Your ex or should I say your girlfriend now that I‘ve left?” Klaus stood up walking to the closet. “What do you mean I haven’t gotten a new girlfriend, you are the one I’m with. At least I thought so until you just left!” Klaus raised his voice the smallest notch before taking in your tears. “She sent me a picture of the two of you smart ass!” you shoved your phone in his chest before moving on to the dressers. “This was taken years ago-” you stopped in your tracks “I was trying to make her leave.” you took him in, sizing his reaction “I promised I wouldn’t break your heart again. I wouldn’t-”  you could tell how broken he was to see that you had jumped to the worst of him. It hurt Klaus to know for the past week you had thought of him as a monster. It had hurt you that he hadn’t done anything to break your heart again but the fact was you couldn’t help jumping to him hurting you again. “I don’t want to be a monster among men.”

Ghost Of You
Summary: Based on lyrics from Ghost Of You by 5SOS in which you see how the each of the Mikaelsons would react your death.
Klaus Mikaelson:
“Dancing through our house With the ghost of you And I chase it down With a shot of truth That my feet don't dance Like they did with you”
You and Klaus had been together for over a half a millennium and yet Klaus had always done everything in his power to keep you safe. You and Klaus were practically inseparable and when you were human you’d joke about how crazy he was for always having one of his hybrids following you in an effort to protect you. Since you were now over five hundred years old Klaus felt more comfortable with you on your own since you were no longer a baby that could easily be overpowered. Yet somehow on the day you died, he had a gut feeling telling him to keep you at arm's reach but you being the stubborn person you were had protested his efforts, instead of opting to stay within earshot you left the compound only to be met by Klaus’s first sire, Lucien. You never thought of Lucien as a threat since his sire was Klaus and instead of running for the hills you helped him find the witch he was looking for.
When Klaus worried he was over paranoid and so when you didn’t show up for dinner and hadn’t responded to his messages he was out the door looking for you before anyone could draw up a plan. When your body was delivered to the compound a day later Klaus fell to his knees so crippled by pain that his thoughts couldn’t process what laid before him. Elijah confirming his first sire betraying Klaus sent him on a downward spiral that caused New Orleans to shake in the wake of your death. When he had met you things had begun to turn around, he slowly stopped unnecessary killings and by the time you had been with him for a hundred years he had mellowed out his murderous tendencies. And here you were dead and nothing stopped the rage that rippled through his veins leaving body after body both vampire and humans alike. Thousands dead because you were no longer there to hear him out, hear his side of things.
Nearly a month after your death Lucien was caught and Klaus kept him nearby as Rebekah tortured him in the effort to cause the amount of pain he had given her family in the wake. Klaus though had slowly retreated into himself and found himself drinking to the point of death if he were human. It was in those moments in his drunkenness that he started seeing what he’d assume was your ghost. It was then that people’s hearts truly broke seeing Klaus, once strong and undefeatable now broken as stumble over his feet as he slow danced with the ghost of you. The once delicately and smooth dance, moving from one step to the next was now clumsy and jagged. He knew you weren’t there but his brain couldn’t cope with your loss and yet he even as he danced through the house you once shared he knew his feet wouldn’t work in the delicate pattern he once used with you.
Rebekah Mikaelson:
“Cleaning up today Found that old Zeppelin shirt you wore when you ran away, and no one could feel your hurt.”
Your death changed everything for Rebekah. You had been her friend for nearly ten years and yet the time spent with you in her life had meant more to her than the millennium she’d lived without. It had been the ten year anniversary of your death and Rebekah had made it a point to herself and to every in the years before that your guys' house was untouchable. In the weeks after your death, Rebekah closed the house up, casting a spell that kept everyone out and everything fresh as when you were still alive. Rebekah would never have admitted it but from the day of your death till the exact moment of her standing on the house’s steps she knew she was running from the pain of packing up your memory.
Now with ten years behind her and her original body back under her control she undid the spell allowing the house to settle around her. The memory of you was so strong that her knees buckled. Rebekah could almost swear that you were just upstairs in your room getting ready for a night out, or taking a nap on the couch. She could smell your vanilla extract you left in the oven, ready to bake to make the house smell like a giant sugar cookie.
Hours had passed and Rebekah had set out to pack up the house, cleaning it up the dust that wasn’t there, writing notes to give the furniture to Goodwill and to transfer some of your clothing to her closet. She had been setting up boxes when the doorbell rang but she couldn’t be bothered to move to answer it. As she listened to her brothers discuss how they wanted to welcome her back into town she whispered a ‘come in’. Since the house had been registered under your name and you had died they were free to let themselves in but her brothers knew to tread carefully. Rebekah’s hands moved to pack a shirt stuffed so far under your bed she nearly had to crawl completely under and it was when her fingers trailed gently over the shirt finding a couple of holes throughout that she recognized it. It was the Led Zeppelin shirt you had worn when you both met. The slightly torn shirt caused an overwhelming sadness to settle over Rebekah.
It wasn’t until Klaus and Elijah appeared at your doorway did they realize how much you had truly meant to her. Rebekah gasped for air as she clutched the shirt to her chest, letting her tears flow as her memory of you in the shirt replayed again and again. “She was running away when we met.” Rebekah felt frail as her voice cracked. Klaus and Elijah sat down on the floor next to Rebekah unable to help. “It was raining so hard and there she was in this torn shirt with tears falling down-” Rebekah’s sobs broke through harder than ever. You both had been running away that day, her from her brothers’ manipulation and you from your depression that followed you everywhere. “She thought no one could feel her pain, th- that no one could understand how deeply she’d been hurt.” Klaus moved closer to Rebekah as she clutched your shirt tighter. It was when Klaus had wrapped his arm around Rebekah that it was clear that no one could feel her hurt that ached in her chest and spread through her body vibrating every cell.
Elijah Mikaelson:
“Here I am waking up Still can't sleep on your side”
You and Elijah were like two peas in a pod. So when Klaus began fighting for a kingdom that wasn’t his to take, Elijah’s feared nothing but you getting in the crossfires. When you had been taken he nearly slaughtered the entire town looking for you and when he did find you he was too late. You had your heart ripped out laying on the floor next to you. This destroyed Elijah. He had loved you, still loved you with everything in his body and then some. He loved your sweet smile and your protective side. Nearly a month after your death he found himself alone. He blamed Klaus of course but nothing changed the fact that you were dead. Beyond dead, as you had been human and therefore there was not even a chance of him seeing you again.
Elijah had taken to drinking in the bar Klaus’s army had spent their time in. His brothers had begun to worried more as each day with you gone Elijah had become unpredictable, always drowning out the noise and the people with drinking and now venom concocted by a witch that could guarantee the death that could kill any other vampire. Being an original kept him from dying but that didn’t mean that the poison didn’t affect him just the same with pain some would consider the absolute worse yet to him did not come close to the pain he felt at your loss. When Elijah had collapsed from the constant poison and lack of blood to feed him Kol managed to carry Elijah’s limp body back to the compound and into bed. Every time Elijah closed his eyes he saw your heart thrown on the floor next to you and there was nothing that kept your gruesome death from torturing him during his unconsciousness.
When Elijah woke up the next morning he noticed his body half hanging off the bed in an attempt to stay away from your side of the bed. The glass of blood in a small glass on the nightstand brought your rosy face to his mind causing him to roll over on the bed letting his nose breathe in your scent. He couldn’t bring himself to sleep on the bed he shared with you let alone your side of the bed. Smelling your strawberry body wash made him cry out as images of you dancing in the rain flickered across his brain. Just being on the bed you once shared made him want to rip his own heart out.
Freya Mikaelson:
“If I can dream long enough You'd tell me I'd be just fine”
Your death had shaken Freya to her core. She never expected you to pay the price that kept her safe but you did and you’d gladly do it again, over and over again. You were her confidant, she had come to you time and time again when her brothers were over-demanding or worst on their vengeance streaks that meant no one was safe from their fury. She had come to depend on you, you both did magic together and had loved drawing from one another. Rebekah was traveling the world finding a spell to resurrect Kol but Freya had stayed to be a buffer between Klaus and Elijah. And yet she’d never imagined that her brother’s actions would lead to your death. The covens paid her the respect when news spread that you had been killed, the vampires and werewolves had called a truce with the news in the effort to make it right with Freya. It had been their fault that you had died in the crossfire and since she was one of the most powerful witches with an original vampire and hybrid on her side it was no coincidence that the man responsible for your death had been pushed forward to collect his punishment. Your death had crushed her spirit nearly to the point of no return. But with you gone she found herself in her bed, unable to connect to her magic. She’d close her eyes in hopes of having a glimpse of you. Sometimes she’d swear to Rebekah that she could see you, feel your presence in the room next to her. Being a witch yourself you had been stuck on the other side staring at Freya’s fragile self. “You’ll be just fine” you whisper as your hands faintly brushed Freya’s hair out of her face. Freya’s sleeping frame turned over and you knew better than anyone how truly broken she was. Freya woke up with tears on her face as Rebekah came in to help her. “I just need to dream long enough-” Freya’s voice trembled “then she’d appear and tell me I’ll be just fine. I just need to see her again, Rebekah.” Freya whispered laying her head back on the pillow closing her eyes.
Kol Mikaelson:
“We're too young, too dumb To know things like love But I know better now”
Kol hadn’t processed your death like everyone had assumed he would. In fact, he did the exact opposite, he had sat quietly mourning you, mourning the non-judgmental ear you gave him, mourning his friendship with you that had made him a better person. He hadn’t murdered people or manipulated anyone since he saw you die right in front of him. He hadn’t even murdered your killer which terrified everyone, including his siblings. At first, they had assumed he was in a trance from seeing you die but when he hadn’t even begun looking for your killer something was definitely wrong. Which was true, you were dead and he had curled into himself allowing your killer to walk free but to everyone who knew of Kol’s reputation and even the killer himself had assumed Kol was playing a psychological game but in reality, Kol had just stopped caring.
He hadn’t shut off his humanity simply because he wanted to be better for you, he wanted to show you that he was making an effort to be the man you had always saw him being or becoming and shutting off his humanity had meant he’d turn ruthless and he wouldn’t do that to you even if you weren’t alive anymore. Day after day of Kol’s collectiveness he began to understand why he wanted this for you, began to understand why he’d rather live with the pain without seeking vengeance. He realized how exactly much you had meant to him. How he always thought of you as just a good friend, someone he could depend on to go to the bar with him at midnight to release steam or someone he could call on a long trip to explain the strangest day he had or someone he could vent to about how much he had missed being a witch, being connected to the earth in a way that made everything so small so significant.
‘I love you!’ you said it in such a tiny voice that had he not been a vampire he wouldn’t have heard. But you had said those words to him with such ease that he had just assumed you meant it in a platonic way, the way you both always ended a call or said goodbye. ‘I love you like really love you.’ you spoke much louder and he turned to face you on the bed. You had been sleeping over after you both had hit the town drinking shot after shot, bar after bar that when you both were highly intoxicated Kol didn’t even think twice about letting you come over to sleep, or sharing his bed that you always slept in to take a nap when he was off fighting battles that weren’t his. “Love you too.” Kol’s response that night was platonic and automatic and it hurt your feelings but you had kept going. ‘No I mean, I actually love you.’ you weren’t scared of being rejected because you had known that he loved you just as much so you said how you felt with drunken courage backing you up.
'Y/N, you're too young to know what romantic love is, trust me.’ his response to you was playing back in his head even after it was too late to take it back. That night you had just nodded your head quickly falling asleep but now he knew how much he loved you on a level far beyond platonic and the fact that you had jumped in front of him to save him showed how much you truly loved him. When you had told him he was just too dumb to realize how connected you were to your feelings but he knew better now. Which was why he laid in bed staring at the side you often took regretting everything he ever did after that night that wasn’t showing you how much he cared. Now that you were gone it was too late for him to which was what truly crushed him about your death.

“aw Mr. Grumpy.” you giggled when you saw his face, “what makes Mr. Grumpy so mad?”
Damon waited a moment before turning and flashing you a smile, “nothing. its fine.” he let out a deep breath, “does Mrs. Grumpy have something for Mr. Grumpy?”
