Been a really long time since I've watched Daredevil but I do remember coming away from it feeling like it presented a pretty compelling internally-consistent moral justification for the vigilante thing. You're not planet-crackingly powerful, it's just that you can hear, in detail, every awful thing your neighbors are doing to each other, every night that they're doing it. You can't not know and you can't pretend not to know and when the kid tells you the next day that he just fell down the stairs you can't fall back on the provided ambiguity to absolve yourself of your responsibility to act. I was reading a bunch of post NWH fics a while back where Peter gets like a job at Murdock & Nelson or something similar and I started reading one and didn’t realize until I was already invested that it was actually Peter/Matt and the age difference was sus but I was like, fuck it I’m too far in. Like. Age gap with someone that young is not my fav but Peter was at least an adult and I’ve read worse in a lot of the fantasy books I love so like whatever. But it ended up being like… so good? Matt used the pet name “angel” for Peter and it gave me such an influx of emotions for fucks sake I’m still affected by it.

The fic did kind of ruin me for any fics where Matt is more of a parental figure to Peter, however. Like, can’t read the ones where Peter is straight up a kid after that. Too weird and wrong.

Anyway all this to say I had never experienced rare pair hell until that moment. And since then I’ve been cursed and keep stumbling from one rare pair to the next. I didn’t realize how good I had it.

But one of the rare pairs this led me to was Matt/Clint. I want more of that so badly. Been seeing a lot of winterhawk on my dash recently and it just makes me want devilhawk more. Their dynamic is so good.

The villain must know your secret identity. There is no other explanation. All of their plans are perfectly timed with your work hours, and always take place as far away from your family as possible. You have decided to finally confront them about it.

Something I find fascinating about kpdh is that other than huntrix as a lesbian polycule, I have only seen artwork of the ships presented in the movie. It’s the ones the fans in universe made up that we’re all rooting for in real life. So rarely have I seen media where the canon or suggested canon ships are in fact the ones everyone latches onto.

i'm the guy who writes the books that the protagonist in supernatural horror movies frantically reads somewhere in act ii. job's pretty easy. lot of "legends of vampires have recurred all throughout human history" and "demonologists agree that the quickest way to un-summon a demon is to trap it in a cursed object". no citations of course; they don't pay me citation money. i had to learn html back in the early aughts when everyone started seeking their supernatural info on websites they found via top search engines like FINDLER and WEBSIGHT but that's died down now which is great because i didn't have it in me to pick up css. currently working on a new book about horses that are evil. it's called HORSES THAT ARE EVIL in all caps so the protagonist can find it quickly to yank off the library shelf. it will be published 35 years ago.
